Yeah, I know that the narrative will continue to center around him "having" to leave, but I still don't see it. Again, he wants to be on a contender for title for the rest of his career, and very few teams he can sign with can offer that. Especially out West.

So he'll stay in the East, where he'll have an easier path to the Finals, even with the rise of Boston and Philly.

And if he does leave, it'll be for Philly. And the board will explode.

1) Philly. Soft landing spot for his twilight years, has the Klutch connection to Simmons, gets a pile of shooters for non-Simmons lineups. But, yeah, he and the two stars' games don't exactly line up. If rings that he is the best player for is what he desperately wants, he might not get those here. Also, should Philly prefer PG for fit reasons, even if they're preferring him to a far superior player? This is going to be a fun summer just off this.

2) Houston. On-the-court fit is as good as possible. However, seems like the easiest place to get into a dick-measuring contest with a star because Harden's game basically demands the other players take a seat, and Bron doesn't really always like to do that. Highest potential for greatness, but highest combustability factor.

3) Insert-a-squad (most likely the Lakers). Wherever he, PG, and CP can join up and have some collection of useful roleplayers might just do it for him. The fit with those three would be great, and it's kind of a reasonable thought that Paul leaves as long as the Rockets disappoint (lose in 4 or 5 to GS or lose in the second round). A few teams can "make the money work," but it's not so easy for me to see both PG and CP leaving a spot after a year.

4) Cleveland. Sure, it could happen. But why would it? Because of the backlash? Who's hating on him for leaving THIS team? With that owner? Even if so much of the failures of Cleveland this year can be at least somewhat tied to Bron (his D, his friends' contracts), he has to feel like this is a sinking ship. Maybe he stays if they make the Finals. They might not make it to Toronto (or Washington).

I used to have it 1, 2, 4.

even after this shit.

I think there was a personal relationship with LeBron/Wade and LeBron/Cavs (well, really NE OH) that prompted the 2010, 2014 moves.

there isn't really that with Philly. Sort of is there with Houston, because CP3. the thought of LeBron and another wing shitting on the East with Simmons/Embiid makes me grin. The Whores ain't beating that.

Either one of those two I would root for because LeBron gets to shit on Boston still (if Philly, plus it's Philly so...)

and Houston deserves REAP after D'Postrophe and the refs jobbed them out of a WCF. CP3 should have gotten a damn chance for a ring this year.

any other team I just can't see it. San Antonio is too structured. the Lakers, LOL. They might get Lord NyQuil but that would be a disaster for them IMO. you gotta have a disciplined player alongside a NyQuil player.

The league served them up a bunny with the Utah deal but I don't know if they can get what they need now. Houston I don't see why they are being pushed, they can't add him without losing everything they have except their other two ball-dominating players. A super team type situation with the Lakers maybe, Philly still seems like a glove-in-hand fit but who knows?

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

...and a make a deal with OKC for Paul George. But they're not going to be able to just pawn off Smith, Thompson, Hill, or Clarkson to another team without something in return. Teams aren't going to just absorb those guys out of the goodness of their heart, especially since they all have two years left.

I still think LeBron stays tho.

at least, according to Gary Payton. Glove says Bronny has committed to a high school in LA...where Kenyon Martin Jr and Scottie Pippen Jr already attend. The school says he, in fact, has NOT committed. LOL...this next 18 days is going to be nuts.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

on how Bron to Houston could get done...and I just don't see it. It would require a TON of coordination between Bron's team and Gilbert to "work together for the sake of both parties". Houston simply cannot take him on as a FA, unless they let CP3 walk...and that defeats the whole purpose. Bron, Chris and James would amount to over 100 mil of their cap...and that's before Capela or the other 10 or whatever roster spots. For it to work, Bron has to opt in and then a CLE/HOU trade has to happen...which comes with difficulties of it's own. Shit was pretty interesting.

Maybe the Lakers can be the Heat Part II.

I do *not* think he will stay in Cleveland. I do *not* think he will go to Houston.

Philly, LA and possibly Boston. Boston has pieces to move around even though they don't have the cap space. Ainge is that dude. Kyrie sort of creates an odd situation but maybe he gets moved, who knows? I just can't rule it out because they are so flexible.

Some are talking San Antonio now? I can't see that at all

In response to Reply # 2

He's trying to get his Supermax deal. He's a year away from being eligible for it with the Warriors. He's not leaving and starting the process over again.

Plus, staying with the Warriors gives him the best option for longer term success. Not a lot of teams under the cap that'll be contenders next year.

In response to Reply # 35

So I figure he signs another contract with a player option after 1-year (whether it's for two or three years total), then decides whether he signs the super-max deal.

And that is of course predicated on whether the Warriors win it all this year and/or next year. They win both, sure he stays for the Super-max. They win one and not the other, he probably stays for the supermax. They lose both, he at least explores other options.

I have no idea what other team's salary cap space is looking like after next season, but I imagine that it will make a lot of difference.

As his best landing spot. He'd bring more of what they need there and not be relied upon as often for leading the team. And that team's defensive potential... goddamn. Would still be relying on Embiid a ton, so that could be a reason he doesn't go there. But after a year of Russ... man, how nice would it be to play with a point guard who genuinely is looking to set you up first?

As long as you've got the player's rights, you can hypothetically pay them each the max they can get. You've just gotta be okay with paying lots of luxury over the years of the contract(s).

It’s their surest play. And will at least keep them in contention. I know, if the Cavs lose, there’s going to be a lot of “GO AFTER BRON!” talk. But I still don’t see how either team makes it work.

Good restricted free agents never get to leave. Team always matches them. They might get traded a few years down the road if the team's fortune turns, but they never outright sign with someone else until they become unrestricted.

He seems to be begging for a big contract offer from a bad team looking to make a splash. PHX, Dallas, LA.. all of em could be making Houston shell out 20+ annually this summer.

Capela's probably worth it, but the Rockets' new-found prominence as the L's de facto second-best team made this summer a little trickier than it otherwise would have been for them.

FO is kinda committed to him since they gave up Butler
and created this so-called core w/ Dunn and Markkanen.
I am however kinda curious on the number.
Granted LaVine just came off a knee injury,
but he didn't look the best the last few months.

It's a great spot for him-- he brings a lot to that team that they need in terms of shooting and veteran leadership, and they bring a lot to him in terms of a spaced floor and title contention for the foreseeable future.

if they hit it out of the park (e.g. add two big guns), then he has to go and the offseason will be a smashing success. if they whiff completely or get PG and that's it, then they probably pay him (less per annum but longer deal) and it'll mean they didn't maximize the offseason.

i have mixed feelings about him. he was great down the stretch but man was he wack AF in the boston series.

Always fucked with Rondo heavy ____.

He's a true point guard none of this Russell Westbrook stat padding shit either. Get me assists and run the offense. He'd be a great vet mentor for a young point guard coming out of college. Tell the rookie you can't start until you get 11 assists on the second unit consistently within two years.
