Duncan had the better coach. He was also a better player, who didn't shrink at crunch time and wasn't fazed KG's meanmugging Cobra Kai bullshit.
If not for Ginobili and Parker, Duncan has two more titles.
If not for fleeing to Boston, KG has zero, and unlike KG, Duncan's teammates actually like and respect him
Duncan also wins in post-basketball life so far by going off to do something and sparing us this sort of ten minute long self-mytholigization trying to rewrite a career that's been over, and tell everyone again how tough you were although you never did shit but flap gums same way you doing now
The number of absolutely disastrous playoff flubs those two guys have had is amazing.
Ginobili's inexplicable foul on Nowitzki in Game 7 of 2006 being one that was particularly bewildering and costly. Manu fouled Dirk Nowitzki as he drove the lane even though Spurs were up two and the clock was ticking down. The basket counted, Nowitzki made the free throw and the game went into OT and Spurs lost.
One of the worst plays ever.
And there are several more.
Ginobili is that kind of dude though, and his brilliant moments outweighed the bad…the bad ones were just so, so, so, so bad, and so very costly.
