"PATERNO (HBO)"

Caught this last night...

Great movie IMO

As much as this has been covered, I was truly even more disgusted after watching the movie

I didn't read the grand jury indictment

I didn't even really follow the story too closely TBH

...and I was still pissed at the whole situation and everybody involved in it...

but watching it unfold in a re-enactment

with alot of information...

FUCK JoePa FOREVER!

That came out later in the proceedings, as testimonies came out over time

It sticks to the facts...mostly

There's some creative license with just a few scenes

It does ebb and flow

Some parts elicit sympathy, understanding, etc... (I'm assuming that's what you mean by split the difference)

But by the end of the movie, it's a nail in his coffin (I can't say final nail because more info could come out)

Members of his own family start to question his ethics

Mostly an indictment of the entire system that enabled Sandusky, but focused on and told through the context of the Paternos

+1, Pacino will win an award for this

The writing was good. But Pacino didn't even attempt to act in my opinion

Pacino doesn't do voices

...but he nailed the portrayal of JoePa IMO with inflections and language...

When he told his kids...you have your own homes to go to now...nailed it

Also, the character does evolve from denial to realization

I honestly think it's one of the best acting performances of his career

But I get it

I had the same reaction to Oldman in Darkest Hour = he's dressed in a fat suit waddling around and mumbling for 2 hours

<shrug>

or whether they'd go soft on him.

What you describe sounds pretty good. Blame Paterno, but blame the system too. It could have happened at any sports program, and probably has.
