"It's official: Lebron is the best all around basketball player ever"

And by about 40,000 miles at this point. It's embarrassing.

You'll probably never see a man of 33 average a triple double
over a month.

You'll almost surely never see another 30K-8K-8K in your lifetime.

It's special.

The comedy part is even the plea cops are in his favor:

"HE CAME RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL!"

LOL. Exactly, dickhead. Dude was a legit highly skilled
elite level player, and not just a big man dunking on
people, from post puberty.

its kinda an arbitrary bar to set for lebron in terms of elevating his rank in history (and he will prolly end up breaking it in a few years anyway).

rings is obviously a legit standard tho. even if he caught or passed jordan...the winning percentage would still be an issue. jordan made himself peerless in that regard (in the modern era).

It’s better to win 6 of 10 than 6 of 6.

6 of 10 means you made 4 more Finals where as the other player got bounced early in the playoffs and assuming they would’ve won if they had gotten there.

It’s knocking someone for the negative of not winning the Finals but not knocking someone for getting bounced earlier in the Playoffs. You can’t have it both ways.

Shit is borderline idiotic by any measure.

If you look at that draft class, he’s the only guy that’s still playing and that hasn’t fallen off significantly. He’s only 33, but at the same time he’s played a ton of minutes and has carried a huge load the whole time.

It’s pretty incredible that he hasn’t slipped at all. Will be interesting to see how long that goes.

dude is the goat by most any other measure tho.

nobody has been better at all of the sum parts of playing basketball than he has.

and I won't get into the G.O.A.T. arguments since that's a fairly complicated debate, but nothing but respect to him for averaging a triple double in February. Very commendable stat to maintain given all the mileage on his tires.

It's now abundantly clear that he's in a league of his own when it comes to all-around basketball ability. It's crazy.

He has but one peer on the mountain-top of all-time Greatness. It's Jordan. Mentioning anyone else is laughable at this point.

The dude played 4 years of college and still played into his 40's and is atop the scoring boards.

There's an argument.

I meant it as absurdly bright - like - so bright it makes you squint to comprehend how he did it. Which is why I can have nothing but respect for what he accomplished. His career stats shine so bright that it's almost blinding. He's more accomplished than even Jordan - but he's not a better basketball player than Jordan - nor LeBron.

Big players weren’t shooting 3’s and handling the ball back then. So any big that wasn’t doing so can’t win the “all around” debate against anyone with versatility. Scottie Pippen, Grant Hill, hell Steve Smith were better “all around” players than Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, etc. if we’re focusing on the “all around” part. Which is why it’s meaningless.

Bron is the next evolution of basketball player. Some say he's a "big" but he has the speed, handle, and skill of a much smaller player. The reason we have to say "different era - different type of player" is because we've never seen a player like LeBron in any era - at any size.

Sure - but they never accomplished even close to what LeBron has accomplished (and throwing Steve Smith in there is a stretch lol). Kareem is on Rushmore - but he won't be considered a better basketball player than LeBron when it's all said & done (save for Laker fans and old head nostalgics).

Well, there have....but LeBron has surpassed them all. Fair to say he’s the most well rounded great player ever.

That’s usually how it goes. As time passes fewer people will have seen Kareem play, and those that care enough to look up old games might have a tougher time putting things into context. Comparing great players that are several generations apart from each other is pretty much impossible IMO.

It's just that he's so talented that he can do anything. Shoots the 3 ball better than other pure scorers of the past (like kobe/jordan) - but it doesn't get him syced up to score. He's literally a hybrid of Magic/Jordan possessing their best respective traits.

Will never be seen again.

And think about his peers in his draft: Melo & Wade -- both hall of famers and truly *great* players. They are both physically wearing down in dramatic fashion (with significantly less basketball mileage on their bodies).

To be *this* great for *this* long is astounding.

Lebron will be an elite grade basketball player for a longer

Lebron's maximum is as maximum as it gets in basketball.

His career doesn't make any sense.

The way the center position has fallen off in the past 20 years and the shifts in the game to account for it really make for tough comparisons to Kareem, Wilt, and all the great bigs, tho

the other week I was putting away all my Cavs/Eagles gear and was folding this one shirt that had the 2016 roster on the back listed.

I looked at that roster beyond Bron, Kyrie, and Kevin Love and was LOLing

this team is the only one to come back down 3-1 in the finals

EVER admit or agree that he's better than MJ, no matter what he does.

He can become the all time leading scorer, he can win seven rings, and he can be an all star for 8 more seasons. That still won't be enough.

But he still has to get to 5.

Then, he has to get to 6.

And then after 6 he has to get to 7.

There's Gatekeepers. And he's not even at the first Gate.

Well - he's the only player in nba history who *has* done that, so there's that.

>Well - he's the only player in nba history who *has* done
>that, so there's that.

turnovers were not an official statistic until the 1977-78 season, so we only know that he's the first player since then who has done it. we don't know that it has never been done in NBA history before then.

also, you didn't just say he's the only player in history who has done it, you said he's the only player in history who *could've* done it. which is a baseless and fairly uninformed claim.

I would be too if I tirelessly attempted to denigrate the legacy of a top 2 player of all-time, and was proven wrong time and time again, for all to see in plain view.

It's been fun, though.

this late in his career, he's maybe the only one. iverson had a 44 pt 15 ast 1 to game late in his age 31 season, and payton had a couple close ones at the same age (35/15/2 and 30/16/1)

guys who've had 30/15 games with 2 turnovers or fewer at any age: http://bkref.com/tiny/j81KO

In response to Reply # 116

that he's somehow just a "stat" machine - or that he lacks "killer instinct" because mj-kobe purists think there's only one way to hunt. This is the Skip Bayless Cambridge Analytica lunatic faux-take news that has diseased sports fandom - and of course - it's just patently false.

The truth is this (if you want to look at the evidence): LeBron shines brightest in the biggest moments - when everything is on the line - and both the eye-test and stats show that he's not only the most clutch player of his generation - but he's breaking records in clutch situations with performances that are mind-blowing - and in year 15 - he's still the apex predator in killer-instinct moments.

But let's just look at a few examples of his clutch play in big-time games to illustrate:

-the Detroit massacre:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx4z_pCA_6k

Bath Salt in Boston:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-VzBeOrdAg

Game 7 - Spurs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JBSpqThhxw

Dagger Three to halt Thunder in Game 4:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkH8W3OGgHQ

-the late-game comeback to obliterate MVP-led 1 seed Chicago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgLMI784M4E

-Most historic NBA Finals performance/comeback in league history:
http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/finals/2016/06/22/lebron-james-big-block-on-iggy-game7.nba

You'd be hard-pressed to find *any* player in nba history who has the Rolodex of big-game clutch scalps in their dossier that Bron sports.

He has made indelible memories in big-game, killer instinct required situations so many times - and the evidence is replete.

Nobody has performed better in game 7 situations:
http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/news/nba-finals-game-7-lebron-james-mvp-history-cleveland-warriors-miami/77f0y38xfpeh1uwsscmy123wa

Lebron's top of the food chain when it comes to clutch buckets in tying or go-ahead situations in final 2 minutes - and his aggregate clutch stats are bananas - particularly via TS% & usage rates in final 5 minutes of close games:
https://twitter.com/MikeSGallagher/status/861982794066481153/photo/1

FiveThirtyEight nerds even reported on this way back in 2015 - and in the 3 years since, LeBron has racked up legendary clutch moments that puts his legacy over the top:
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lebron-may-be-the-most-clutch-playoff-shooter-of-his-generation/

They were even talking about in 2013:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1649232-lebron-james-heat-star-statistically-most-clutch-player-since-nba-debut

Yet you're still crying in 2018.

It's time to heal.

It will see other great defenders come and go. Freak athletes will always find their way into the league's highlight reels.

The game will see great passers come and go. But the game will never see an all-around talent *this* accomplished. It's one-of-a-kind.

Sad that some can't appreciate it.

But Lebron is pretty obviously the best all around player
