Royals offered 7/147 last month and Padres offered 7/140. Dude wanted that eighth year, Padres gave it. So...Cain gone, Hosmer gone and Moustakas looking to be gone. KC about to pull the tank out the garage?

if you're gonna take the rest of your prime as an opportunity to go on an extended vacation, and you're a so overrated he's underrated sort of player, might as well go to San Diego (it would've been fun to see Miami spend this money on him after the offseason they've had, though). He did the hard midwest work, can't really fault him for essentially retiring in the middle of his career on a fat contract.
Hope he has fun, I already miss the 2012 - 2017 Royals.

He would do so good in those smaller stadiums but you are its hard to call what even type of player he is...overrated? underrated? just average with power?

I get that we are talking about an eight-figure difference in the contract but come the fuck on. 7/147M is a very competitive offer and he did the old Mr Burns "I'd trade everything I have for just a little more." He will fall off in PetCo. The Padres will be trying to figure out just how much of this deal they have to eat within two years, three years tops.
