"Shooters shoot" = "Shooters have a short memory' = "Fuck it, I've missed my last 10 threes but this one's going up"

James Young better save his money, but in hindsight he was damn smart to leave after one year. He got a first round contract off being 6'7", left handed, a "pretty" jump shot form, and that dunk against UConn.

Passing skills nonexistent, matador defense, no real handle on the ball? I guess they assumed he would learn that in the league.

But hey, he had some nice games in the tourney that year, plus I heard he's a fan of cigarettes. That's oddly charming to me in this era for a basketball player to burn squares. Dude just doesn't give a damn.

stauskas and glenn robinson are both 2014 draftees just like young and are still on guaranteed contracts with picked up options

Stauskas is making almost as much this year on a team option that James Young made on his entire rookie deal. Total NBA earnings after this year...$12M to $5M.

glenn robinson earned his guaranteed contract in Indy as a 2nd round pick and theyre gonna give him another one this year.

and Caris Levert, sure he entered 2 years later but hes going to play like 8 more so it really doesnt matter when he entered.

before this backfired on you my only point was that Young wouldnt have been 1 and done at UM. and given Beilein's track record at developing lightly regarded players into NBA prospects, he would have probably been better off for the extra year or two of college. oh well.

So I gotta consider your best case scenario (guys on the fringe of the NBA) for James Young?

Lmao!

James Young went to Kentucky because he wanted to win games, make a tourney run, and get to the NBA quickly. Check, check, check.

If he wanted to stay in college, he would’ve. It’s pretty simple. If he’s guilty of anything it’s impatience & poor work ethic once in the pros.

Going to a shittier basketball program that’s going to hold you back isn’t the solution.

the whole point that you still seem to be willfully neglecting is the idea that getting to the NBA as quick as possible probably wasnt his best path for sucess on the floor or in his bank account. especially since you yourself just named impatience as a critical flaw lol

YOU brought up the Michigan guys better than him AND making millions of dollars more than him...not me.

And you’re also ignoring how the team you get drafted by factors into the end result.

Your solution is Michigan would’ve taught him how to bounce pass for 3 years.

The overall success of the Kentucky pros is substantially greater than that of the 5ish Michigan pros. Is there even a starter in the bunch? Lmao.

Why not? It worked for Caris Levert, Tim Hardaway, Trey Burke, and DJ Wilson. Why wouldnt it work for a player with more natural talent?

The law of probability would allow for nothing else. Obviously the group with more top 10 overall recruits is going to have more pros...thats not saying anything. UM *has* had twice as many NBA players as theyve had 5* recruits over the last 5 years, so obviously they are doing something right.

And Boston now is the same as Boston 4 years ago? Some players that get drafted and don't end up playing right away sulk. That's just the truth.

And out of those players only 1 is a starter. And 3 are fringe NBA players. James Young obviously did not view himself as a potential fringe NBA player.

Lol so it's only the 5 Stars? I just did a quick search, Michigan has 7 players in the NBA. That have combined to start 33 games in the league this year.

Subtract Jamal Crawford who was not a Beilein player.

So that makes 6. 3 were 4 Stars. The other 3 were 3 stars (One is a horrible bust Trey Burke). None are 5 Stars.

Kentucky has 26 players in the NBA. 3 out of those 26 were 4 Star recruits.

So again... if you were a 5 STAR Recruit. Which school do you go to if your ultimate goal is to get to the NBA and be successful?

Whatever Michigan is doing right, the NBA doesn't give a fuck about. There's no parallel. There's no either or choice. If you're a 3 star recruit that wants to make the NBA, go to Michigan. Enjoy your 4 years. Maybe you'll make a Sweet Sixteen or something.

But it's pretty clear and obvious why James Young chose Kentucky over Michigan.
