"Wizards fans come hither. Let's talk."

Let's talk about why John is back to his 2015-16 version of himself. He can't shoot and refuses to defend and its even more obvious than ever that he doesn't care.

Let's talk about Beal being the better star player right today (I actually remember Basaglia predicting this some years back)

Let's talk about Otto Porter. I like Otto. His contract is terrible. I was hoping he would break close to 20ppg this year. Has not happened.

Lets talk about our lack of quality big men...again. Markieff has been terrible. Gortat can't rebound. Ian is useless. Mike Scott has essentially crashed back down to earth.

Let's talk about Scott Brooks. Brooks is a fraud. I said that shit in other forums when he was hired and its still true today. He runs almost no sets and his offenses always devolves into depending on his star players. If he coached any other team (like say Milwaukee) the losses would pile up. This team is also non-existent on defense. He was supposed to be hailed as a defensive coach. What happened there?

Let's talk about Ernie. Oh yes. Let's talk about this man who has had his job for almost 15 years without this franchise even sniffing an ECF appearance or 50 wins. Let's talk about how he signed Mahinmi to an outrageous contract and he has done nothing of value. Let's talk about how he traded for Bogs and got essentially nothing out of that trade. Let's talk about how he fired Wittman (rightfully) and hired a coach who is of the same ilk. This team is currently in the 5th seed. It is very likely that they don't get a playoff spot this season. And he can't fix it. Wall, Beal, and Otto are all on their max contracts. He can't move any of them and get the value he wants back.

Let's talk about this.

I KNEW this road trip was gonna amount to terrible things, giving way to deservingly bad ink. It's clear that there has been discord mounting for years. I can't prove that John and Brad hate each other. Think there was some jealousy over Brad's contract, a year or so ago. Even still, it's translating to the court. The lack of defense and overall GAF is lacking, man. Ionno!! I will say that Brad has been the MAN this year. It looks like John is tired and ready to roll.

I know he had that knee issue a month ago but he has no explosiveness out there. But if he healthy and just dont GAF....then yea, the discord is deeper than we thought. He let Westbrook embarrass him.

Brad is doing his thing and should be the focal point but when your PG is salty then... *shrug shoulders*

Otto....!?!? If you even have to THINK about giving someone 100 mil then maybe it wasnt a good idea to begin with.

And Brooks was brought here for one reason...to try to lure Durant so he could have a familiar coach, he didnt come and well, now we gotta ride it out cause Ted dont like firing people.

Ernie................... *threw up in mouth and spit it out on Ian contract*

Usually check in if they're on TV, and have been to four games so far this season.

They're difficult to like. Gortat is done, Markief Morris couldn't care less, Otto Porter is the most overpaid max player I can recall, and, for being All-Stars, Beal and Wall are the least consistent "stars" I've ever laid eyes on. The last point is the most important point - this team sucks mostly because Wall and Beal only play hard when they feel like playing hard. That's it.

Brooks must hate this team. How could he not? The sole bright spot is Oubre, and I understand his reluctance to start him given what Otto is being paid. Brooks took a team to the Finals, but he took a team that had, at the time, two transcendent players in Westbrook and Durant whose effort never wavered night-to-night.

It seems these guys think they can just turn it on in May. I wonder if it wouldn't serve them right to lose in the first round.

This is the crux of the issue. The entitled play has to stop.

Hmm....Brooks is part of the problem IMO. His philosophy is to give these dudes free reign over the offense in clutch situations. I do agree that Brooks did much better in OKC. At least when he had Westbrook, Durant and Harden, they were overly dedicated to doing the right thing. Brad and John seem more intent on doing what makes them look good. Not a good way to go about playing basketball. But Brooks not having any set plays or any real offensive philosophy outside of drive and dish, makes it tough for the both of these players to shine mainly because they don't exercise much IQ to manipulate defenses. Yeah John and Brad have their ways, but Brooks offenses pretty much sets the tone for them.
>

Nah. Their problems are above just their attitudes. Is a first round ouster or them missing the playoffs gonna be enough to get Ernie fired? Will Ted choose a front office guy that is better than Ernie? This is all on management IMO. All of it. This is the house that Ernie built.

Obvious they're not going anywhere this season. Could miss the playoffs entirely if the Pistons figure it out and John misses more like eight weeks.

But despite clearly needing another top-flight talent, they've been reluctant in the John/Brad/Otto era to fire up the tank. They just trade picks and make shitty signings.

A low Top 10 pick this season could land you Wendell Carter. Gortat's 33, Mahinmi is 31. Get a high-potential, high-motor young big who can step out and pop 3s. Or shit, get anything. Back end of the top 10 this year should have some money.

on one hand, he's got them bought in on giving effort more consistently and moving the ball around

on the other hand, his rotations sometimes are just maddening. They beat the Cavs, but he nearly took them right out of it leaving Mahinmi in there as a parking cone for Lebron to bulldoze for almost the entire fourth quarter

This season is a total mess. Never seen a team so out of it before the playoffs. I'll be surprised if they make it out the first round. I see them getting swept with the way they play defense.

Wall was hurt. Kieff was hurt. Gortat's in decline. Bench rotation didn't solidify until second half of the season. Otto's still coming into his own.

Might as well just make the playoffs, bow out early and rest/retool for next season.

Nah, that shits not gonna cut it no more. That's what this team says every year when they underacheive. Oh our players got injured and weren't themselves. Boston don't use that excuse. Cleveland doesn't use that excuse. Like when is Ernie gonna be held accountable for his failings as a GM. This man got 15 years here and ain't even sniffed a ECFs or a 50 win season. When does he get held accountable for that shit?

I ain't never seen the media hold Ernie to the fire for being subpar. That man has skated here for so long. Ted seems like he doesn't care as long as he's making money. That whole, "We'll get em next year" steez is so tired. Especially for a fanbase that hasn't seen a winner in almost 40 years. Snyder is still leaps and bounds the worst owner here in the DMV as far as sports goes but Ted's underacheiving is catching up.

They missed the playoffs back in 2016 down from being in the second before. While changes were made, they didn't fire Ernie back then.

I will say though that the difference would be salary. If they get don't get out the first round and they are paying the tax, then Ernie gotta go.

What are their options besides getting rid of Ernie and bringing in a new GM to make some moves? No FA's sign so whats the resolution?

Ernie Grunfeld has never won anything and wouldn't be employed by any other team in the league

Scott Brooks is paid 7 million dollars per year, despite a record that includes -one- trip to the Finals (on the backs of three transcendent players)

John Wall's bar by which he measures his own success is so laughably low that he jumped on the scorer's table after hitting a buzzer beater in game 6 last year, only to lose game 7

Bradley Beal couldn't spell DEFENSE if you spotted him the "EFENSE" and told him to guess a letter between C and E

The Caps choke in the playoffs annually, and the only consistent thread from their first choke in 07 to this year's inevitable choke is Ovechkin and Backstrom. When everyone else comes and goes and you consistently fail, maybe it's YOU.

There's not a bloodthirsty, desperate, must-win culture over there. It seems that by preaching loyalty, Leonsis is enabling a passive culture. A culture that allows Bruce Boudreau to survive a 3-1 series collapse in 2010, a culture that continually brings back Ernie Grunfeld, a culture that gives away first round NBA draft picks like candy, a culture that asks only that Barry Trotz take his team out of the second round despite having never been out of the second round himself.

The worst part is that these teams just aren't likeable. They don't seem to care that they're letdowns. The Caps STILL commit costly penalties in crucial parts of important games. The Wizards STILL play defense like they're being sponsored by Xanax.

The bar at Capital One Arena is so low, and these SOFT teams can't get over their own knee-high hurdles. Another Spring, another playoff season with no teams to be inspired by.

(Watch Ernie be brought back too)

At least they did what they were supposed to at home. Game 5 is where I see what the team is made of.

Unfortunately though, John is the only consistent one, everybody else is up and down for various reasons. I'll give Oubre some credit though for his energy. Wiz wouldn't have won this one today without it. Didn't look like the team was taking John's lead in the first quarter.

Otto, man, somebody needs to beat his ass every game. Dude is going so slow out there. Least he picked it up in the second half though. The team needs him to be more consistent. He gotta step it up.

Gortat got one more good game in him.

Morris....was good Keef today.

Brad's 6th foul was bogus. But it made the refs eat whistles. haha! I wish he would stop dribbling so much though. He hasn't learned that his defender doesn't matter so much as what is going on around the rest of the court. Leave the playmaking to John and Ty.

All in all though, if we win game 5 we winning the series. Period.

Where Otto looked like he couldn't move all that well. It may have been diagnosed suddenly as worse than what it was, but Otto clearly didn't look like himself out there. He got banged up near the last game of the season and some folks thought that maybe it was that injury lingering, but it didn't show up in the injury report so *shrug*. I don't blame him for trying to fight through it but dude was doing his best disappearing act and it hurt the team at the worst time. I think its bad that he's being ripped to shreds for his injury, but I do understand where some folks are coming from. Maybe he should have sat. But even with all of that, I don't blame Otto, I blame Brooks. He could have given his starters some rest before playoffs. I'm surprised Brad has held up this season.

I mean, Ernie was horrendous, but he'd skated until now...somehow.

4 of the last 5 GM's who acquired Dwight have been canned. Morey's the last man standing and he let Dwight go. Hilarious.
