"Ferguson vs Khabib UFC 223, April 7th. Conor finally stripped."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAbeWQs4Eb0

Dana White starts off talking about Conor
and confirms the Ferguson/Khabib fight for
the belt at 7:59.

It's about time they strip McGregor. This
dude doesn't want either of those fights,
so he needs to be out of the way. This
Ferguson/Khabib fight is now one of THE most
anticipated fights of the year.

CAN'T WAIT (c)

while making no effort to get in the Octagon to defend the title.

He wants to fight in September. That would be 22 months since he won the title. I don't care if you spent time boxing, were hurt, had a kid, or whatever else he's been doing, if you can't or aren't going to defend a title in a reasonable time you aren't a champion.

Isn't the old adage that you aren't a champion until you defend the title anyway?

thing will be an annual stop for the UFC, with good reason.

Amped as fuck for Ferguson vs Khabib. I feel like it's a better fight than Conor vs Khabib anyway, to be honest.

Master top game (pause) vs. master scrambles. There's gonna be some wicked transitions. Tony is super creative in the clinch, so against the fence and standing he can find some ways to do damage to Khabib. Tony will take advantage of a sloppy takedown with a fancy / creative sweep but the problem is Khabib is so sharp and doesn't use unnecessary movement in his takedowns

Tony is a gamer and will fight through adversity if he's on bottom. I think his guard and bottom game are actually pretty good, but it could be a case similar to Yair Rodriguez vs. Frankie Edgar, where a guy with creative submissions from the bottom gets smashed but a guy who can avoid all the traps while dealing heavy punishment from top position

JUST IN CASE Khabib pulls out again I would want some really good other fights on the card to round this one out, cause it's gonna be expensive.

They're both hell on the ground with some holes
in their stand up game, but Tony's stand up game
is a little worse imo with the way he likes to
keep his chin in the air. Khabib is just so
relentless with the ground and pound, but Tony
is tough as nails and could be the biggest
ground threat in the division aside from Khabib
himself. If I had to judge from either of their
last fights tho, I'd choose Khabib all day.
Should be an exciting fight.

Tony just has really awkward stand up but I think it's enough to give khabib problems. He's no Tyron Woodley when it comes to take-down defense so he's gonna need tricks up his sleeve to delay the inevitable

I went to the last Barclays show (Holm vs de Randamie) and it was truly the worst PPV ever

But the MSG shows have been stacked. And this fight is can’t miss.

the worst ever. I know that was a pretty common statement amongst fans after the event. Holm / Randamie was boring as fuck, for sure, and it was a night chock full of decisions, but there was star power on the card. Had potential, just didn't quite pan out.

I'm not sure if it would pay Conner enough to get him in the cage, but maybe. He's only fighting for big paychecks now, though.

I’m curious how far apart you think they are cuz I don’t really have a clue. Would $20 mil do it for Conner? Would it take more like $40 mil? I could see UFC maybe in the $20 mil ballpark.

The UFC created this mess when they agreed to the Mayweather fiasco, so it is interesting they are willing to potentially burn that bridge between them and McGregor. Just so I am clear, I am for this move for selfish reasons, but it's interesting WME-IMG would be cool with this move since I'm certain they are eager to pay back that $4 billion loan they used to purchase the UFC and Connor at the moment is the only fighter that brings in guaranteed top dollar returns.

Very interesting way to start off the new year.

I hope they keep going and go all in on this card.

Make it another “biggest card ever”.
Connor will probably be in the house, and if Tony vs Khabib can happen— get in a wwe style promo to hype up connors return and try to get him as much money as possible to make it happen.

Throw might mouse on the card since he can’t draw a headline anyway, give ngannou or stipe winner a fight on the card if they finish quick tonight. Ngannou especially would be good for promo. He’ll put cyborg and nines in it too.

Also important to stack the card since Khabib and Tony may not happen lol.
