In response to Reply # 71

that jersey burning shit that damn near every other fanbase does... including the Miami Heat's, who took it to an extra level of salty by painting over the LeBron mural, is not some pathological Cleveland shit.

nor is being so bad you're at the top of the draft, Browns be damned.

this was proven to be extra fake news the day LeBron announced he was coming back and all the fans threw an impromptu parade in the city, all wearing their old shit (since there was no new shit to buy). you would have thought they had already won the championship.

ask a Bear fan what they think if one of their own players goes to play on the Packers.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Houston Rockets’ players James Harden, Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green pushed into Clippers locker room post-game looking to confront Austin Rivers, league sources tell ESPN. Security escorted Rockets out before anything turned physical.

Admittedly, I didn't watch the game as it happened, so I don't truly know heated things got. But it's a crying shame for three key players from the Rockets getting potentially suspended for a scrub like Austin Rivers. Even worse given that dude wasn't even playing in the game and way jawing while he was riding the bench.

I wonder if the Rockets will activate Harden prematurely from his injury to try to game the NBA suspending him in a sense. I remember the Knicks going something similar with Noah last season.

"Sean sparks like John Starks, nah, Sean ball like John Wall" - Rest In Power Forever Sean Price.

Put the clamps on them real strong when it counted the most. Don't love that they coasted through those first three quarters defensively, but they sure knew to lock them down during the final 12.

KD, Steph, Draymond, and Klay all balled out. Loved Steph's dunk. And I loved that they used Swaggy P in the 4th, and he did everything he needed to do.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

IT is still playing his way into shape. It's game #5 and dude JUST played his first 30+ minute game. He looks winded and his rhythm is off. Shots he hit all of last season are falling short or off or getting blocked. He's still finding his angles.

I saw enough C's games last year to know we haven't see him as he was yet. I'd say around all-star break is when he'll start to feel normal and should hit stride in the last few months of the season.

Not playing competitive ball for 7 months takes some time to get use to. Unfortunately, the Cavs are going to have adjustment pains while it happens. Once they get all their bodies back (Rose will be back later this week/early next) they can start to work on what they will look like at playoff time.

They found a defensive flow for about 20 games and I think they'll get it again.

Still gonna lose to the W's in 6 though. lol

if you wanna say IT won't be enough, sure...fine. But, to actually watch them and say he won't improve the offense is just false. He has ability that no one else on that team besides Lebron has. I watched every game he's been back. He doesn't even have his game legs and it's still evident what he can do. He can handle the ball, run pick and rolls and get his own shot...and actually knock down a three on the move...not just set and waiting for Bron to hit him. AGAIN...because I know this is OKS. I'm not saying he is going to be enough or make the difference "all of the sudden". I just feel like people are dog-piling dude for not being Kyrie...but, WHO THE FUCK IS????

they aint beating whoever come out the west tho.

and when i say improve the offense i mean in comparison to what it was then kyrie was there. idgaf about what happened when IT was out other than them already having a shit defense before the worst defender in the league came back. this trade is judged on how it looks vs when kyrie was there.

that's sexy in the reg season. Without their motor at his peak level, they are ripe for a second round loss.

CP3 gets hurt every year in the playoffs it seems and Harden has now folded up his chair and called it quits in two series (last year vs spurs and 2012 finals).

I'd give benefit of the doubt to SA if somehow they were to topple G-State.

The Rox though...only way they get in is if Curry and Durant or Draymond is hobbled.

I think the Cavs would beat them.

they're already really really good offensively. top 5 in point per possession and true shooting percentage. how much can they really improve there? not a lot of headroom.

they went 19-2, won 13 and 6 straight and held teams below 100 points 8 times, 101 or below 10 times. Most of that was with Calderon starting as Shumpert got hurt.

If they go with:

Love
Bron
Crowder
Smith
IT

Tristan
Green
Shump
Wade
Rose

And get a consistent rotation (and Lue uses his lineups appropriately) they should be fine on D.

They just need to be mediocre on D and explosive on O to make a run.

That's attainable as they've done it before this season. As IT is able to carry more of the O load later this year, Smith and Shump can be interchangeable depending on how much defense you need at the time.

Not sure why there's so much doom and gloom for a team that won 19 of 21 not a month ago. *shrug*

8 of those have been on the road

2 losses to G-state
1 to the C's
1 to minny

Most teams in the league go 0-4 to those.

Other 4 losses all on the road to Toronto, Utah, Indy and Sac.

2 of those losses were bad losses (utah and sac).

They SHOULD have gone 5-5 or 4-6 over that run given the injuries and IT coming back and them having to incorporate him.

But if you look at it...their offense has been more problematic. In those 10 games, they broke 100 4 times and only held opponents below it twice. I think they'll look much better in Feb and they face similar competition to this stretch, though not with as many road games:

2/3 Houston Rockets
2/6 @ Orlando Magic
2/7 Minnesota Timberwolves
2/9 @ Atlanta Hawks
2/11 @ Boston Celtics
2/13 @ Oklahoma City Thunder
2/22 Washington Wizards
2/23 @ Memphis Grizzlies
2/25 San Antonio Spurs
2/27 Brooklyn Nets

That was a brutal 10 game run too. AND they not at full strength. They need shumps defense and once Rose settles into a productive 20 mins a game as IT's back up. They'll flow better.

I'm just saying...can't call this team washed over a bad stretch.

D sucked last year too but they still made the finals and point blank, if KD wasn't on the Warriors, I'm not sure G-State wins that series.

And I think this years team is better than last years team.

even though this is the yearly "Cavs (under LeBron) suck before the All-Star Game apex", there is no fix for this. no opening in the skies. no trade that can fix this mess.

Kyrie was better.

and even if they still lose and play bullshit defense, Ky still better.

and they traded him to the team that will eventually be the #1 in the East for the forseeable future. that is unforgivable, and I will be the lone Cavs fan who will beat that drum until the end. that was the "letting Harden get away" move for the LeBron Cavs, and the "adopting Harden onto your team" move for the Celtics.

LeBron can't cheat code the way he, Wade and Bosh used to nor the way he can Ky used to. he also can't carry a team the way he has been. and the ISO ball (a hallmark of LeBron teams) is a fast-track to the toilet bowl.

I'll wait to see where he lands next season. if it's the Rockets w/CP3 and Harden, I'm rooting. but the same ol', same ol' problems are here.

also, fuck Donkeylips just because.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

No trade fixed it last year. This is basically a half new team. They are still figuring it out. They hit a stride then lost a few other guys and now are gaining a few others.

>Kyrie was better.

Nobody is disputing that but this Cavs team is better/deeper than last years.

I can see that. But Kyrie wanted to bounce. Not like they just gave him away either. The Nets pick will pay dividends. If it ends up top 6 and the Cavs get Porter Jr, Doncic, Ayton, Young, Bagley or Bamba...they'll have a building block for the future and possibly more younger talent to help another title run next year (see: Jayson Tatum).

I think it'll be Cleveland. Houston makes the most sense outside of Clev though.

they had the right idea last summer, when they were trying to land butler *and* PG. they knew what type of team they needed to build to compete with the dubs.

pivoting to rose and wade, and swapping out kyrie for a lesser version of kyrie, was definitely a plan b.

just go small and load up on wings. crowder the right type of player, he's just been terrible tho. they need more guys like that. bazemore. whoever. pj tucker / mbah a moute types.

or maybe on Twitter. You need wings, wings, wings, and dudes that can defend wings. That's why the Clippers were never worth a damn. Doc never thought it was necessary to get an NBA wing player.

Reports: Multiple Cleveland Cavaliers players concerned about state of team

http://www.nba.com/article/2018/01/16/reports-cleveland-cavaliers-discontent-growing-locker-room-among-team#/

After last week's blowout loss at the hands of the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue and star LeBron James knew there were issues the team has to fix and quick. Following last night's loss to the Golden State Warriors -- a defeat that gave the Cavs' rivals the season series -- talk of discord and concern about the season among the Cavs is growing.

According to ESPN.com, Cleveland.com and TheAthletic.com, multiple players acknowledged to those media outlets that there is a growing concern that the root of the Cavs' issues cannot be fixed. The Cavaliers have dropped eight of 10 games dating to a Christmas Day defeat at defending champion Golden State. As well, last night's loss dropped the Cavs to 10-12 against teams over .500, with their last win over a .500 team coming in a Jan. 2 home win against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports that multiple marquee Cavs -- as well as several league sources -- spoke about a sullen atmosphere surrounding the Cavs of late:

Multiple marquee Cleveland players spoke without attribution to cleveland.com, ESPN, and The Athletic after the loss to the Warriors, and league sources separately spoke to cleveland.com to describe a sullen and dour atmosphere on a team that a few short weeks ago was toasting in Napa, Calif.

"Rotations are awful. IT (Isaiah Thomas) is so much worse than Kyrie defensively it's insane," said a league source. "There is not a great feeling anywhere. They need to limp into the All-Star break and get away from each other."

Concerns range from a roster (the league's oldest) that appears ill fit to match up in a seven-game series with the mighty Warriors, who have beaten the Cavs in two of the last three Finals, in seven of the last eight games overall, and are again the NBA's best team at 36-9.

There are questions as to whether the pieces put in place by owner Dan Gilbert's new front office team, headed by general manager Koby Altman, fit together -- regardless of opponent -- and whether the Cavs will make a trade by the Feb. 8 deadline.

...

Communication between the front office and players and coaches is different -- not as frequent -- as it was when former general manager David Griffin was here, multiple team sources have said.

In terms of the roster's future, writes Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com, a trade may not seem likely and the return of some familiar faces will alter what happens next in Cleveland:

Several prominent players, speaking on a condition of anonymity to ESPN, Cleveland.com and The Athletic, expressed doubt that the problems -- an aging roster, defensively-challenged personnel and a glut of redundant role players -- could simply be worked out through patience and a chance to coalesce when fully healthy.

With the trade deadline looming Feb. 8, the Cavaliers do have some options, including their own 2018 first-round pick, which could fetch interest on the trade market. In addition, they also have Brooklyn's unprotected first-round pick in this year's draft, acquired in the Kyrie Irving deal. However, several league sources told ESPN that the Cavs prefer to hold onto the pick as a potential franchise-resetting asset should LeBron James leave as a free agent in July.

...

In the meantime, they have two more players on the mend -- Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert -- who could further disrupt the rotation whenever they return healthy enough to play.

That could also include an adjustment period that any sort of major trade would bring. And midseason trades are just as much an annual tradition for the Cavs as midseason slumps are -- with deals completed the last several years to acquire Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Timofey Mozgov in 2015; Channing Frye in 2016 and Kyle Korver in 2017.

"I'm not anticipating anything," Lue said before the Warriors game when asked about potentially accommodating new pieces into his rotation.

Cleveland's schedule may not make life much easier on it going forward. Eight of its next 10 games are against teams currently in the playoff chase in either conference, including a game in San Antonio (Jan. 23, 8 ET) and a home game vs. Houston (Feb. 3, 8:30 ET).

fuck the cheating ass Warriors, when you're getting blown out by teams left and right the way they are at this stage, after a trade supposedly "improves" the team....collapsing in the 4th quarter. they were up GUILE levels on the Pacers ALL game, the 4th quarter hit and they can't do shit and lose by 2.

when the coach goes away from what works on the bench (Channing Frye) to play a player (TT) who has become absolute trash since getting his Klutch Kontract? and in many other situations don't seem like he knows WTF is going on?

biggest ether of what's going on now is with a squad of B-listers, the Miami Heat is still a rather... compelling team/offense under Spoelstra.

(link: https://www.sbnation.com/2018/1/14/16890850/miami-heat-ball-movement-offensive-execution-vs-bucks)

well, that and the Kyrie "defense" talk that lingered for years. he would play when inspired. IT? Mmmmrrgh.

this isn't overreaction; this team is playing like a crock of shit relative to expectations. they have every right to be concerned: the end is near.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Not surprised they were foolish and immature after

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Rockets center Clint Capela walked down the main corridor and banged on the front entrance to the Clippers locker room, league sources said. Soon, a Clippers staff member opened the door and looked up to see Capela, a formidable 6-foot-10 figure standing in the doorway. She shut the door in Capela's face. For a few moments, Capela stood there, unsure how to proceed. Before long, Capela walked back to the Rockets locker room, showered and headed for the bus with the rest of the Rockets.

Two squads who haven't done shit popping off to one another - the perfect illustration of Mike D'Antoni and Doc Rivers.

At least Doc won a title tho.
