"2018 Will Be Another Great Year For Boxing"

We're kicking things off with Errol Spence Jr vs Lamont Peterson on the 20th. Since Thurman is sounding shook anytime Spence is mentioned, I'm glad Spence was able to find a willing participant. He and Wilder are probably the most avoided fighters in boxing right now. The undercard will find Robert Easter Jr (a 5'11" lightweight) defending his belt against Javier Fortuna.

Feb 10th will be Mikey Garcia (the last person to defeat Adrien Broner) moving up a weight class to face champion Sergey Lipinets. Garcia has also been called out by Lomachenko who would have to move up a weight class to face him... they've actually called each other out. Garcia said the fight will happen whenever Lomachenko's "daddy" (Bob Arum) let's Loma fight lol.

Then on March 3rd we have the big one. Deontay Wilder will finally get his chance to fight Luis "King Kong" Ortiz after Ortiz tested positive for banned substances last time, leaving Wilder to fight Stiverne after paying him off to fight Ortiz. These are two undefeated KO artists and very avoided guys at heavyweight. Everyone wants to see Wilder vs Joshua, but until then, this is next best thing at heavyweight. Ortiz moves great for a heavyweight, so this may not be the easiest fight for Wilder, but no one will be able to say Wilder "hasn't fought anyone" after this... and if Wilder KO's him, that's a helluva thing to have on his resume. I can't wait for this one. Funny thing is Stiverne will be fighting Dominic Breazeale on the undercard. Shawn Porter will also be facing Adrian Grenados on the undercard... a great night for boxing.

Jarrett Hurd just called out Erislandy Lara, and Lara is completely with the shits... told Hurd on Twitter to be careful what he asked for, b/c he (Lara) pushed for this fight. Jermell Charlo says he wants the winner of that fight.

Jermell's twin Jermall is about to fight Centeno in a middleweight interim bout ordered by the WBC. Should Jermall Charlo win, he'll be the mandatory challenger for the winner of GGG vs Canelo 2, which takes place in May. Neither of them want smoke with Charlo. Actually the walls seem to be closing in on both Canelo and GGG, because neither of them want it with Billy Joe Saunders either after the way Saunders did Lemieux last month. Canelo's team even said he "runs too much" as if Canelo didn't box exactly the same way against GGG. What they really mean is he does it better than Canelo. GGG's trainer keeps asking what Charlo has done, saying he doesn't bring in money etc... all excuses.

There's still no date for Terence Crawford vs Jeff Horn, but it's gonna be lovely watching Crawford (best p4p right now) do his thing at Welterweight.

2017 was one of the best years for boxing in a very long time. 2018 is shaping up to be another really good one.

That Ortiz/ Wilder fight is gonna be nuts. It's extremely dangerous fight for Wilder though, because even though he beat Stiverne and Arreola he never looks sharp to me and is really wild with his punches. Ortiz to me is a lot better puncher though I haven't seen him fight a ton, so I'm not sure if he has other issues like gassing out in late rounds. Doubt it goes late anyways.

I think Lara beats Hurd. Hurd got hit a ton against trout so what you think Lara's gonna do.

I think Jermall Charlo will be the one to hand GGG his first loss. GGG has no advantages against him. I can see GGG fighting backwards a lot that fight and it won't be good for him. Plus Charlo will go at him unlike Jacobs...who should have beat GGG had he not shown him so much respect. Curious to see how Canelo does against GGG in the 2nd fight though, because to me he should be able to beat GGG.

Whoever fights Spence at WW aside from Crawford to me is an automatic loss. They'll be the elite of the division once Crawford makes it official. Spence is already there obviously he just needs Thurman's name crossed off to seal the deal.

Very quality year of boxing shaping up indeed.

I mentioned in the OP that Hurd called Lara out, and Lara responded saying "remember, I wanted this fight." Hurd has said that his game plan is that he walks through punches until his opponent gets tired (he does this because he's huge for the weight class... dude looks like he walks around at heavyweight). That worked against Austin Trout, but I don't see Lara gassing like that. This will be an interesting one.
But look at these guys face-to-face and tell me they don't look like they're in two different weight classes:
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/JRVcS-kNfJk/maxresdefault.jpg
Still tho, all the excitement.
April 7th will be a great day for the fight game, as Khabib v Ferguson is happening in the UFC on the same day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O_mLQ6XdeI

He called out the boxing writers who gave the Fight of the Year award to others who accomplished less than him, as he beat 2 olympians in 2017... not only beat them but STOPPED them. Said Lomachenko is his guy (no shade) but he didn't beat any real comp in 2017 (Jason Sosa, Miguel Marriaga who was coming off a loss and moving up in weight, Rigondeaux was moving up TWO weight classes and only fought 2 rounds in 2 yrs AND is old). Then he names pretty much every notable fighter out there around his weight class and says they all can get that work. Says he's "kinda pissed off" that they disrespected him like that. He's 100% right about everything he said. Don't take my word for it tho. Listen to the clip.

2017 was definitely a banner year for the sport. Numerous truly competitive fights between young fighters in their prime. Problem being, most of those fights ended up being split decision fights where the outcomes were debatable. I'm not sure if that encourages competition (Risk) or if it goes back to regularly scheduled programming where we only see those kind of fights in mandatories or if there is a lot of money on the line.

The only guy willing to fight Gary Russell Jr. was Lomancenko. Selby and Mares act as if he doesn't exist. Have you ever heard anybody at 147 mention Errol Spence without being asked. Who can Andrade or Jermall Charlo realistically fight at 160. Hurd/Lara is a good sign. 154 seems like they are on a collision course to unify the titles. I just wish the same could be said in just about every other division. It will be hard to beat 2017. Showtime has started on the right track, hopefully they will continue the momentum later on in 2018.

Some of them, but we saw Anthony Joshua KO
Klitshko, Errol Spence KO Kell Brook, Terence
Crawford KO Diaz AND Indongo, Jermell Charlo
KO Lubin in the first round. Alotta people
got busy definitively.

>
>The only guy willing to fight Gary Russell Jr. was Lomancenko.

True. I don't see anybody calling for him.

>Have you ever
>heard anybody at 147 mention Errol Spence without being asked.

Nope, and we won't until Crawford makes his name
at 147. I think he's the only guy who has that
kind of heart.

> Who can Andrade or Jermall Charlo realistically fight at 160.

I'm cool on Andrade until he actually starts fighting
more often and coming through. As for Jermall Charlo,
I'm excited about him becoming the WBC mandatory just
so we can see what ducking tactics the winner of GGG/
Canelo 2 will use to avoid him lol. I almost think
Billy Joe Saunders might want that fight tho.

> Hurd/Lara is a good sign. 154 seems like they are on a
>collision course to unify the titles.

Hell yeah. That 154 collision course is all thanks
to the PBC. Jermell Charlo wants the winner of the
Hurd/Lara fight... those are all PBC fighters. I
love how they set up matches without all the fuss.

Yeah, most of the wack stuff going on in other divisions
is due to fighters on different networks and dumb
politics. I really wish Crawford was with the PBC
so we could see the Welterweight division pop off
like it should. Top Rank just sucks. Heavyweight
has Eddie Hearn using snakey business practices to
postpone fights forever. It's a mess. Showtime
is getting it right b/c of that partnership with
the PBC. Back in the day, HBO was the place where
you went for the best competitive boxing matches.
Now it's Showtime hands down.

In response to Reply # 17

I said Saunders might be more willing to fight
Charlo than GGG or Canelo, but it was just
reported that Saunders doesn't even wanna fight
Jacobs. If he doesn't want smoke with Jacobs,
he definitely doesn't want it with Charlo.

I thought maybe he would be off that cherry-
picking BS after the Lemieux performance, but
he's still the same paper champion he's always
been.

If he watched the Julian Williams fight, I can understand why he would focus on Charlo. Charlo might be the biggest middleweight in the division. He tends to load up at times, relying on his power and allow himself to be out worked. Up into the stoppage, you could argue Williams won every round. Even when he was dropped early in round 2 he came back very strong to finish the round. Charlo just caught him with a beautiful counter but Williams was doing well until then. I think Charlo might be the most vulnerable to a boxer that has a lot of movement. Nobody can question his power but if he is in there with a full blown middleweight that is not interested in standing there waiting to get hit things could get interesting. I think Jacobs is the more accomplished boxer out of the two.

Defeating Lemieux was a solid victory for Saunders. He was the most feared puncher in the division outside of GGG. I think Saunders wants a lucrative fight and the only guys that can provide that is Canelo or GGG. GGG has all of the other belts at 160. Fighting Charlo or Jacobs is risky before you've had a chance to unify. I'm not going to say he is ducking just yet.

You're right about Charlo, but Saunders just
has to have the balls to get in there and get
that work. We'll see.

Say what you will about Broner and his

you can't call him a cherry-picker. He
consistently chooses to face high-level

Let's see if Broner has taken enough

but when Loma was asked about it after the Rigondeaux fight, he said Russell doesn't really want the fight. In the aforementioned Russell interview, he said that since no one wants to see him at 126, it's time to move up to 130 and "bully some of these bigger guys." Lomo is now talking about moving up to 135 tho. His next fight is supposedly against Pacquiao at 140, which is just a stupid fight imo.

Anyway tho, Russell probably will have to move up to get some fights. I'm sure Gervonta Davis, Tevin Farmer, Berchelt, Merchado, Ogawa would all step in with him.

If Loma wants to be a money fighter, that's cool and all, but I don't wanna hear anymore about him being p4p when he keeps fighting over-the-hill fighters and guys who are both coming off losses AND moving up weight classes. I was legit excited about Loma as a fighter at one point. He's obviously not interested in being the best tho. Dude won't even fight for an organizational belt other than the WBO who's been known to have juicing champs... Pacquiao being one of them... and they both happen to be on Top Rank... lol. The rabbit hole is deep there. Pac is way past his prime and is a shell of his former self at this point, and I'd rather see him retire.
Oh well, at least there's Crawford, Spence, and Wilder with the hunger to unify.

I purposely don't report on Canelo or GGG, because they get way too much undeserved attention... especially when other boxers have better resumes but don't get the same.

As for this situation tho, Clenbuterol is a weight-cutting drug. They say it's a very common additive in meat in Mexico, but knowing this, Canelo shouldn't be eating that meat. He's a millionaire afterall. So I agree that there's reason to believe there's something fishy going on there.

Mikey Garcia stepped up in weight, but Sergey Lipinets stepped up in level of competition. That's probably the best I've seen Lipinets look, but unfortunately he was fighting one of the p4p best of this era. It was funny to me that Lipinets was asked in his pre-fight interview about how Garcia's power might translate to 140, and he said everyone knows that your power decreases at higher weight divisions, but then Garcia knocked him down for the first time in his career with a counter left hook lol. While the whole fight was competitive, it became very clear after that 7th rd knockdown that Garcia was in complete control of the fight. A very fundamental boxer who's a joy to watch. He wins a belt in another weight division. Congrats to him.

On the undercard, Kiryl Relikh gets a much deserved victory, dominating Rances Barthelemy in a rematch after being robbed in their first match.

I noticed you calling him that in the Wilder/Ortiz post too.

Anyway, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn needs to cut the lies and set up the fight with Wilder if Joshua wins. They've been running from the fight for years now, asking what Wilder has done to deserve the fight, saying Wilder asked for too much money (even tho Wilder said he'd take any split they give him as long as Joshua takes the same split in the rematch after he gets knocked out lol). I'm hearing rumors that they're going to set up a fight with Jarrell Miller if Joshua wins, which would just be some BS... especially since they're saying Wilder hasn't done enough to deserve the fight. It's VERY clear now that they're afraid of the Wilder fight and making excuses. All of this sucker shit is why I didn't report this in the OP. I'd said after the Takam decision that I don't care about Joshua until he and his team set up the Wilder fight. Pretty shameful that they've resorted to literally lying on team Wilder to the point that team Wilder had to reveal emails to let everyone know they're being ducked.

If Parker wins, that's just gonna be hilarious.

In response to Reply # 0

For the first time, Lomachenko is fighting for a belt other than the WBO, which is in his promoter's pocket. Linares isn't the best comp Loma could fight and has been knocked out before, but he IS a belt-holder in the lightweight division. He's also no soft-touch. This is much better than Loma fighting guys who are moving up in weight AND coming off losses. Should Lomachenko get past Linares, we need to see him against Mikey Garcia. If Bob Arum has the gall to disrespect legends like Muhammad Ali and Mayweather Jr by saying Loma is better than them, then stop protecting him from dangerous fights and let's see the proof. Linares vs Lomachenko will be on ESPN.

In response to Reply # 0

Many suspect that this is fabricated, because Top Rank failed to promote this fight in ample time for fans to fill the arena. Top Rank is so focused on trying to make a star of Lomachenko that they're setting Crawford up for financial failure as far as ticket sales are concerned. He really needs to leave Top Rank ASAP.

46. "Anthony Joshua wants Deontay Wilder BLOCKED ...."
In response to Reply # 0

from entering the ring IF Joshua himself beats Parker on March 31st. This is the sucker shit I was talking about lol. This dude is terrified of Wilder on every level. Here's why this is some true sucker shit: Anthony Joshua did an interview in the UK where he was doing some impression of Wilder AND he's said he'll "ram his jab down Wilder's throat", but he don't wanna see him face to face? Joshua actually already showed that he was terrified of Wilder last year after his fight with Klitschko, because there Deontay Wilder was present in the front row, and when Joshua was asked about his next possible opponent, he named damn near every heavyweight in the world except Wilder... even Tyson Fury who was suspended and not even rumored to be returning at the time. Whenever he or his promoter are asked about Wilder, they some Wilder hasn't done enough, but they fight other guys who've done far, far less. They're obviously trying to stall Wilder out until he's older or just avoid him forever. If Joshua beat Parker, Wilder will have the only belt keeping Joshua from becoming undisputed... so Joshua will have all the belts keeping Wilder from doing the same.

So yeah, 2018 will be a great year for boxing, but Anthony Joshua is out here making sure it's not as great as it could be.

Fury is the only heavyweight with a real chance to beat Wilder.

He has all of the tools that Ortiz has, but has something that Ortiz doesn’t have. That is head movement. If he comes in shape and serious about fighting I see this as a big obstacle for Wilder.

I was thinking this while watching Wilder's last fight with Ortiz. If Fury comes back as the Fury he was before he left, he definitely could be Wilder. He's the only person who'd have size advantages AND skill that could neutralize Wilder. What's funny is that Fury posted a video on social media right after that fight, saying that he promised Wilder year ago in a post-fight confrontation that he'd knock him out, and after seeing the fight, he was sure he would lol.
If Wilder won THAT fight by KO, I'd be very surprised... even more surprised than the Ortiz KO.

If he can get over the mental aspect, he can beat both Wilder and AJ. It won't be pretty, but he could do it and then ride back off into the sunset

50. "Al Haymon"
In response to Reply # 0

On second thought, if we don't see the fights we want to see it is probably because of him. I have been critical of these guys all seemingly wanting to avoid Spence. You can call out whomever you want but at the end of the day it is the manager/promoter/networks that have to put together fights. Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, and Errol Spence all have the same manager in Al Haymon. They all fight on Showtime, what is stopping them. Danny Garcia is arguably the biggest draw in the division even without a title. He can make money fighting anybody and Haymon is in no rush to put him back in with any of the other 3. Keith is probably the 2nd biggest draw and is the current champ having defeated everybody except on the list except Spence. Spence is the IBF champ and a headache just waiting to happen for anybody. With Haymon's stable, he can milk it for a minute and save them from each other.

What is in the water in TX? All these aggressive, gun powder eating, to hell with a decision jokers. You have the Charlo brothers, Spence, and now this kid Regis Prograis at 140 looks to be a legitimate problem. I know he is from New Orleans but he started his boxing career and trains out of Houston. These jokers come in the ring simply to lay hands.

In all fairness, you're talking only about the welterweight division. As much as I like Al, the fighters in that division who are avoiding Spence are indeed under his management. One thing about him is he doesn't force people to do anything, which can be both good and bad. The good thing about it is that he absolutely won't stand in the way of a great fight happening. If the fighters want it, he's like 'have at it.' If the fighters don't want it, he's like 'do as you wish.' So with Al, we're seeing the will of the fighters on display.
When we're talking about the best fights not happening, we're usually talking about promoters (which Al Haymon isn't) intentionally and deliberately keeping their guys away from threats and setting them up only to win. Top Rank, Golden Boy, and Match Room are all guilty of that.

I dunno man... some tough dudes coming up outta TX.. Funny you say that tho, b/c Charlo tweeted the other day that he and his brother used to hang with Prograis when they were kids, shooting BB guns out of car windows lol... says Prograis is a real one.

I'm sure it would be satisfying to Fury to beat AJ, since AJ's pretty much wearing belts that belong to Fury. But Wilder's been here calling AJ out this whole time and the whole boxing world wants that fight, so either would be fine for me.

Wilder's puncher's chance and improving boxing ability would make a fight with Fury very interesting to me.

Danny Garcia vs Shawn Porter has been ordered for the vacant belt.

Thurman still holds the WBA super title, and he'll get an immediate shot at the winner when he returns.

I don't see any of them wanting to fight Spence tho. They all bark at each other and act like Spence doesn't exist lol.

While not a PPV draw - this fight would still see a huge ROI for Garcia. It's the biggest purse Garcia could likely see in the next year or two. Even if he loses - it's not a huge hit and he gets props for fighting the guy everyone is ducking (think of how the Mayweather loss never really hurt Canelo in the long-run). But if he wins? crazy upside. No real downside to me in taking this. Garcia ain't scared of anyone.

Not sure about the Spence fight for Garcia. Garcia has options at 135 and 140. Spence is not a pay per view attraction. Errol made it clear off the break he wanted to unify the titles and had little to no interest fighting manadatories or gatekeepers. What's in it for him fighting a lightweight?

Spence is fighting a mandatory on June 16th in TX, kinda a homecoming event for him. I've never seen him say he's uninterested in mandatories. You can get your belts stripped for not fighting mandatories. "Free Smoke" Spence will give that work to anybody. He posted up an eye-rolling emoji on instagram like "yeah whatever" when Garcia said he wanted to fight, because it's really hard for Spence to find boxers who are seriously willing to fight him. I'm 100% sure Spence will take that fight, but Garcia said he wants a couple more fights and then fight Spence at the end of the year, so we'll see if Garcia sticks to it.

67. "Wilder offers Joshua 50 mil for the fight"
In response to Reply # 0

I don't like sharing negotiation news, but goddamn this is checkmate. I'll give the condensed version of recent events.
Wilder has been calling Joshua out for years. After being pressures by fans and Sky Sports, Hearn (Joshua's promoter) recently offered Wilder 12 mil flat fee, which is ridiculous for a fight of this magnitude, because not only is it a flat fee instead of a percentage, but it's a hella low flat fee. Hearn, the habitual liar, claims the fight would only be a 40 million dollar fight, so 12 mil was a good offer. Meanwhile, Wilder's team argued that it's at least a 100 mil fight. Joshua then says "well if it's a 100 mil fight, then give me 50 mil, and I'll take the fight tomorrow." So Wilder does this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BiAcB1SHcZE/?hl=en&taken-by=bronzebomber
Story has it that this offer comes with no rematch clause and the fight will be at a venue of Wilder's choosing.

I can't wait to see what excuses Team Joshua come up with now.

In response to Reply # 0

At the end of April, they were given 30 days to reach a deal or have a purse bid scheduled. However, a unification bout between Hurd and Charlo could trump the rematch provided Charlo comes out victorious over Trout on June 9th free of injury.

I'm a little torn here. I think Lara deserves a rematch for sure and I'd love to see it, but I really wanna see that fight between Charlo and Hurd too. Fresh blood, new champs. If the rematch happens first and Lara and Charlo both win, Charlo and Lara are two friends who've trained together. That would be interesting. If Hurd and Trout win, we've already seen Hurd stop Trout once. Charlo and Hurd are the two guys who'd make for the most interesting and exciting fight imo.

I'm not saying Lara doesn't deserve a rematch but nobody wants to see the same fight twice. Good fight for Hurd. Just not sure if Brook wants to be in there with such a big guy like Hurd after being stopped in 2 of his last 3 fights. One thing you can definitely say about Hurd is that he is a confident young fighter. There are clearly easier opponents out there than Austin Trout and Kell Brook.

Dude gets both of his eye sockets busted, then comes back and beats a bum and starts calling out killers like Errol Spence, Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. Spence already crushed him once, and he's only gotten better. Hurd is just too big and not the guy you wanna fight with a fragile face. I'd want the fight too if I was Hurd. Brook's handlers obviously don't care about him at all.

He'll be out until at least December, so his plan to grab that WBO belt off Beltran in August has been postponed. What a fucking weekend for boxing

Horn vs Crawford will only air on the ESPN + app (4.99/month)
There's a 7-day trial option when you sign up

Charlo vs Trout will be on Showtime on the Santa Cruz vs Mares II card.

I've been waiting for long to see how Crawford performs at Welterweight.
And Charlo knocked Lubin out so quickly that we haven't really gotten to see him fight since he began training with Spence. Trout will be a good gauge to see how much better he's gotten.

Yes. I was at his fight against Diaz. I think he is the best boxer in the division right now. Still uncertain how he will do when men that walk around at 170 start touching him or not deterred by his punches. Will he be able to keep these jokers off him for 12 rounds?

>And Charlo knocked Lubin out so quickly that we haven't really
>gotten to see him fight since he began training with Spence.
>Trout will be a good gauge to see how much better he's
>gotten.
>

Yes and No. 5 years ago I agree but Trout just came off the most grueling fight of his career at age 31. And now he's in with a young lion and the most feared puncher in the division. Austin has the ability to beat someone like Jermell Charlo. We've seen Charlo look bad recently when guys chose to box like his fight with John Jackson. I "think" he's gotten better since then while Trout has gotten older. He looked great against Hurd for the first half of the fight but ultimately he took a beating. I still want to see it.

Jermall Charlo is still his mandatory for the WBC belt, so dude will probably get stripped of that belt too rather than take that fight lol.

LOL! Whyte talked all that crap when Wilder fought Ortiz as if Ortiz was some bum in an attempt to downplay the victory Wilder was about to add to his record. Now he's saying he feels "betrayed" that he has to fight Ortiz. Oh this is gonna be funny.

In response to Reply # 0
Fri Jun-15-18 08:46 AM by Boogie Stimuli

Here's the most recent tweet:
Send me in the Jungle with lions... I’ll come out wearing one. ⚡️ #ItsAStormComing.
(w/ pic of him wearing a lion's head... the Charlo's call themselves young lions)
https://twitter.com/Swift_JHurd/status/1007057441484394496

Immediately after Charlo fought Trout, Hurd posted:

"And y’all really think @TwinCharlo could beat me? 😂😂😂😂

Soon as he get some real competition in front of him... that KO streak goes out the window.

He fight me ANY way like that he’s getting stop! #KeepRunningYourMouth 😂😂⚡️"

"Keep Running Your Mouth" is the Charlos' motto. Hurd was the first to STOP Trout. Charlo fought Trout like he was trying to KO him as well... probably b/c he knew his performance against him would be compared to Hurd's, and Charlo's been on a KO streak lately. This is gonna be a highly anticipated fight when it happens. I'll definitely be excited.

In response to Reply # 83

His last two fights were Trout and Lara, and he claims Trout prepared him for Lara since they're both southpaws.

He's talking about fighting Julian J-Rock Williams since Kell Brook and Jaime Munguia are both occupied (they both said they wanted to fight Hurd). He obviously realizes Charlo is a real threat. I was looking forward to that fight being next, but oh well. He says it'll be after his next fight (if he's victorious). Imo tho, his shit talk about Charlo is too big to be talking another fight to prepare. Sparring and camp is preparation since he claims the purpose of this is too get back in the groove of fighting righties.

at all. I don't even know how this Ocampo kid became the mandatory for the belt. He's being thrown to the wolves. It'll make Spence look great tho. I'm gonna watch, but I'm doubting I'll be entertained by such a lopsided affair. All of Ocampo's fights have been other Mexicans in Mexico, and from what I've seen of him, he likes to get into trades, which is gonna get him smashed by Spence. Somebody pray for the kid. I really do feel bad for him lol.

The IBF does get it right sometimes tho...
Spence was a mandatory at one point, which is how he got the IBF belt from Brook.
GGG just gave up the IBF belt, b/c his mandatory was too much of a risk.
Ocampo was just one of those really weak ones.

Showtime tonight 6/22.
Women's Super Middleweight
Shields won 2 belts in five fights. The quickest woman boxer ever in history to do so. I got respect for her fight game, because she doesn't shy away from tough fights. Gabriels has one loss that she later avenged, so she's also beaten everyone she's faced. However, she's 35 and Shields is only 23.

Not sure where to find these next two on TV yet if they'll be aired at all.

Men's Junior Welterweight, Saturday 6/23
Viktor Postol vs Josh Taylor. Postol's only loss was the Terence Crawford, so I mean... do you really count it? lol. Skilled veteran boxer albeit somewhat slow. 34 yrs old. Josh Taylor is 7 yrs younger and is an undefeated prospect currently at 12-0. He's looked really good against the comp he's fought so far, but Postol is sort of a step up. I'll be interested in seeing how he performs. Both guys are pretty tall for the weight class (5'10" and 5'11").

Women's Middleweight, Friday 6/22
Christina Hammer vs Tori Nelson. Hammer (27) is doing her thing... has two belts, trying to make a real name for herself, undefeated. She's fighting Tori Nelson (41) who took her first loss in January to none other than Claressa Shields. Hammer has the edge in this one, as Nelson moves like she's every bit of her age, complete with apparent knee problems, despite being tough and hard to KO.

seeing if Yarde will give that guy his first KO loss, since Sek's 3 losses have all been by decision, and Yarde has won all his fights by KO except one. Can't wait to see Yarde fighting some bigger names and more important fights. Light Heavyweight is kinda stacked, but these guys aren't fighting each other... especially these eastern european cats like Beterbiev, Kovalev, Bivol and Gvozdyk. Kovalev was supposed to fight Marcus Browne but somehow that fell apart. I was excited about that one. It'll be great when all these young "champions" start clashing and/or giving shots to worthy opposition like Browne and Yarde. Stevenson at least fought Badou Jack, but Stevenson needs to retire lol.

My favorite heavyweight prospect. 20yrs old.
They're calling this a slight step up for him, mainly because this is the first time he's fought a taller opponent.
(edit: Little's walkout music was MJ's Bad lmao)
For those unfamiliar, he's rumored to have KO'd Anthony Joshua in sparring.
He's KO'd all 7 of his opponents so far.
Let's see if he does the same tonight.
Dubois is going to win for sure tho lol.
This fight is on in a few minutes on Box Nation.

If I overlook anything, feel free to mention it. Everything except the schedule is off the top of my head.

WOMEN:

Cecilia Braekhus vs Kali Reis became the first female boxing match to air on HBO. HBO behind as hell lol, but congrats to Braekhus for that accomplishment, as it happened because of her. She's also the only woman to ever be undisputed champ in any weight class. Cyborg wants to fight Braekhus once her UFC contract is up. She has 2 more fights left on it.

Claressa Shields has only had 6 fights and has won 7 titles. Quickest fighter to ever do that, male or female.

Lightweight phenom Katie Taylor picked up a 2nd title this year.

Claressa Shields and Christina Hammer are talking unification. It's a strong possibility that it'll happen this year. That is must-see boxing.

MEN:

Terence Crawford enters his 3rd weight class (welterweight) after being undisputed champ in his last weight class and scores a 9th round stoppage of paper champ Jeff Horn.

Vasyl Lomachenko enters his 3rd weight class (lightweight) and scores a 10th round stoppage of Jorge Linares w/ a liver shot. He's won belts in 3 weight classes in the least of amount of fights of any fighter in the history of the sport.

Nine-time amateur national champion Joey Spencer made his pro debut at super welterweight with 3 early KO's. Two in the 1st round and one in the 2nd. He should be one to watch. Others on my up-and-coming watch-list are Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, Money Powell IV, and Daniel Dubois.

Wilder proved he can beat more than "bums" by knocking out Luis Ortiz, becoming the first to defeat Ortiz.

Jarrett Hurd vs Erislandy Lara was FOTY nominee with the decision going to Hurd.

Mikey Garcia moved up to 140 to grab a belt off of Sergey Lipinets then abandoned the belt right after winning it.

GGG ducked his IBF mandatory, Sergei Derevyanchenko, and lost the belt because of it.

Tyson Fury returned to the ring against a nobody with a lackluster performance. Fight was stopped after 4 rounds, I think. I don't care enough to check.

Anthony Joshua picks up another belt against Joseph Parker in another terribly refereed bout. In other Joshua news, the fight with Wilder isn't happening this year, because Team Joshua is full of shit, to say the VERY least.

FIGHTS with dates I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO:

*Regis Prograis vs Juan Jose Valesco 7/14 (Teofimo Lopez also fights on this card)

Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysse 7/15

Murat Gassiev vs Oleksandr Usyk 7/21

Jaime Munguia vs Liam Smith 7/21

*Mikey Garcia vs Robert Easter 7/28 (Andre Berto vs Devon Alexander on this card)

Joseph Parker vs Dillian Whyte 7/28 (Kell Brook vs Brandon Cook also on this card)

Sergey Kovalev vs Eleider Alvarez 8/4 (Dmitry Bivol fights on this card)

*Shawn Porter vs Danny Garcia 8/25

Fuck GGG vs Canelo

*=must watch for me

Jarrett Hurd REALLY surprised me. First fight off his I saw was against Austin Trout, but the way he handled Lara was impressive. Def a FOY candidate. Wonder how Lara comes back from that. Can't wait to see Hurd and Charlo fight.

Welterweights need a tourney...bad.

Terence Crawford/ Spence/ Thurman needs to be hashed out. I got Spence coming out on top though.

Looking forward to Mikey Garcia vs Robert Easter.

I'm with you on GGG vs Canelo. They're both living on borrowed time. Gonna need Andrade to get his shit together so he can enter the fray. I think Ultimately it's gonna be Charlo that runs that division.

I really want to see Wilder beat Joshua as soon as possible.

In response to Reply # 98
Wed Jul-04-18 05:27 AM by Boogie Stimuli

Andrade just became a free agent a couple of days ago. We'll see how his career progresses from this point on. Hopefully he starts fighting again, b/c dude's prime is passing him by.

And for welterweights, I forgot Josh Kelly when I listed my favorite up-and-coming fighters.
The welterweight tourney would be a good idea. I'm a huge Terence Crawford supporter, but Errol Spence is a difficult fight for anybody. He's really strong for 147 and could easily fight at 154. However, if there's any welterweight who can pull it off, it's Crawford. I don't think anyone else has a shot. Thurman either has a truly serious injury, is scared, or took time off to improve b/c competition got real. We'll see IF he ever returns.

I'm not very impressed w/ Hurd, but I won't get into that again lol.

Gervonta Davis looked sensational in his return to the ring stopping Cuellar in the 3rd round to reclaim the junior lightweight title. It was disappointing that he was even in that situation to lose the title but his last fight was impressive. I don't see any problems for him at 130. He should take his time getting to 135.

Gary Russell Jr. had to dig deep in his last fight with Diaz. Diaz is a young strong fighter that will only get better in years to come. He forced Russell to go to plan B to win the fight. If he can't get a unification fight with Santa Cruz he's been talking about going up to 130. I just don't see him wanting any smoke with Tank.

I don't like the way Easter fights. He is like the tallest lightweight ever and fights like he is 5'5. Hopefully he can make the adjustments and fight like someone 6'0 against Mikey Garcia

Pick em fight but if I had to choose I like Porter. He has the higher work rate. Danny can get too comfortable waiting to counter and allow himself to be outworked in rounds.

Can't wait to see it. I think Canelo showed he was the better fighter in the last fight even though I gave GGG the nod in the decision. Canelo will have to get in the best shape of his life because we know GGG is relentless.

to possibly November. Danny Garcia needs to decide whether or not his heart is in the sport. The extra downside here is that everyone wants to see Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford, but Spence wants the winner of Porter/Garcia before fighting Crawford. It looked hopeful that Spence/Crawford would happen in 2019, but who knows now.

Andre Berto vs Devon Alexander was on the under card, but that fight will now be pushed up to 8/4, so that's one good thing that came outta this.

103. "Luis Ortiz now fighting on the Mikey Garcia/Robert Easter card 7/28"
In response to Reply # 0

He's fighting some cat named Joe Hanks. Hanks is 35 yrs old and 22-2, but his level of competition looks pretty sub-par, so I'm definitely picking Ortiz for the win... probably the KO... unless the Wilder fight aged him significantly or knocked the coordination or confidence out of him. I say that kinda jokingly, but the guy IS getting up there in age.
This isn't the level of competition I'd love to see Ortiz fighting, but I'm just glad he's getting a fight since NO top level guys will fight him except Wilder. Joshua ducked him and Whyte whined and weaseled his way out of a fight with him. Others won't even mention his name. Wilder vs Ortiz was truly the battle of the boogeymen.

104. "Daniel Jacobs vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko (the guy GGG ran from)"
In response to Reply # 0

Slated to take place in October or November with Oct. 27 being the most likely date right now. So Jacobs will get another shot at the title. This'll be for the IBF title that GGG vacated out of fear of fighting a real threat who might jeopardize the Canelo rematch (Derevyanchenko). This should be a good fight. Derevyanchenko is a good fighter, but he only has 12 fights and isn't as professionally battle-tested as Jacobs even though he's slightly older than Jacobs. From the eye test tho, I think Derevyanchenko actually appears to be the better fighter... but I'm on record saying I'm not very impressed with Jacobs. However, his strength and durability can compensate for what he lacks in skill. This should be a competitive fight.

Andrade has been in some weird management situations and made very questionable decisions with regards to refusing bouts... he's been MIA for a pretty long time, when he once showed a LOT of promise. If he doesn't take this bout, I'm done talking about him. This would be a really good fight.

He recently bought himself out of his promotional deal with Joe DeGuardia. Great opportunity for him. He is going to have to go the UK to get it done tho. He will have to be impressive if not outright stop Saunders, might not get the nod in a close decision.

Word. I mentioned that in reply 99. I just hope he starts fighting more.

That's the thing. This is the type of fight that's almost bound to go to decision, and with it beingin the UK, Saunders will get the decision even if Andrade outclasses him... Andrade will be giving up 4 rounds just by going over there. It's also for the WBO, which is a corrupt organization. Part of me thinks Saunders' people paid the WBO to order this fight, because Andrade supposedly said recently that he'd need a couple of fights before fighting Saunders. Saunders has already responded to the ordering of the fight, saying he wants to get it on in September.
With that said tho, Andrade has passed up on too many opportunities. I actually understand why he wouldn't wanna take this fight, but I don't know if he can afford not to at this point.

In response to Reply # 0

Mattysse went down from a left uppercut in the 3rd took a knee at end of the 5th after two right jabs. Got taken out by the left uppercut. PacMan made me proud tonight. Great performance... especially for a 39 yr old. His last KO was in 2009. He didn't wanna talk about who he wants to fight next, so maybe he just wanted to go out on this high note. I'd advise that, because as a title holder in the welterweight division, he'd have to face Crawford or Spence eventually, neither of which I think he can beat. He's had a great career. Either retire or drop the belt and get money fights.

In other news today, Regis Prograis will be going to the super lightweight boxing super series with his victory over Juan Jose Velasco, an 8th round KO from body shots. Velasco told his trainer he didn't wanna continue after the 7th, but his trainer pushed him and ended up throwing in the towel.

Teofimo Lopez dominated in his 10th fight against William Silva with a 6th round KO.

Lu Bin challenged for a light flyweight title in his 2nd pro fight against Carlos Canizales. Bin was KO'd with 10 seconds left in the 12th round. That was a good fight.

The cruiserweight super series concluded with Oleksandr Usyk becoming undisputed by beating Murat Gassiev. Usyk is trained by Lomachenko's dad and has the duck and pivot to the right move that Lomachenko does. He also shares Lomachenko's high-volume punching with alotta feints but very little power. These super series end with the winner getting the #MuhammadAliTrophy which is presented by Muhammad Ali's wife. Congrats to Usyk. The next super series is to be held at light welterweight (140) if I'm not mistaken.

Also on that card was the great First Lady, Cecilia Braekhus, who fought Inna Sagaydakovskaya. Cecilia is bold, fighting fighting people in their own backyards, but she's also skilled, which is why she's still undefeated and the only undisputed female boxer ever. She gave Sagaydakovskaya a boxing lesson and would've KO'd her if the women's boxing rounds were 3 minutes. This was a beautiful, technical performance. Braekhus' punch selection was nearly perfect, and her overhand right and left hook were very at-home on Sagaydakovskaya's chin.

Jaime Munguia got a victory over Liam Smith but was somewhat exposed as basic fighter by Liam's skill. Even tho he lost, I have a newfound respect for Smith. This fight pretty much looked like Hurd vs Lara where the more skilled boxer loses because he doesn't have the power to truly hurt the much bigger, younger guy.
After watching this fight, it really makes you wanna see Munguia vs Hurd, since they're both just guys who are huge for the weight division who use their faces as defense and walk their opponents down. That fight has Ward/Gatti or even Hagler/Hearns potential.

Welterweight prospect Jaron Ennis scored a 3rd round KO over Armando Alvarez. This Ennis guy is one to watch. Very quick hands, only 21, and flashes of Roy Jones Jr. His record is currently 21-0 with 19 KO's.

Next weekend is Mikey Garcia vs Robert Easter Jr. Yeeeeeee!

I think you might be selling Hurd short. It's more to him than what he showed in his last 3 fights. He's not this one dimensional guy that a lot of people have him figured out to be. I will admit, of his last 3 opponents, all of them were better boxers. Lara is an exceptional boxer and Trout although past his prime still has skills. Since he was the bigger man, he chose to impose his will on all 3. I first saw him against Frank Galaraza and he fought a completely different fight against him. He will not fight Jermell Charlo like he fought Austin Trout. I have him stopping Mungia.

aka the battle of the true heavyweight champions (AJ only picked up his belts because Fury left)
Fury says Hearn is a muppet and Anthony Joshua is a puppet who's afraid to fight any real comp and that if AJ isn't gonna fight Wilder for 50 mil then he's not gonna take the fight for anything. Fury says he want to represent the UK better than that, and doesn't want the world looking down on them b/c AJ is too pussy to fight Wilder. This is actual stuff he said on video lol. Fury has a fight 8/18 that he'll win. Then he says he'll fight Wilder in November or December.

In other news, Mikey Garcia seems to be serious about fighting Spence. He reiterated it after his win over Easter Jr where he picked up another title in the lightweight division. His brother and father don't want him to take the fight and would rather him fight Pacquiao. It would be great to see him unify with Lomachenko, but Arum previously claimed he didn't wanna negotiate with Garcia (Garcia left Top Rank on bad terms). Now Arum is claiming the fight can be made. Fuckin promoters, man. Errol will mess around and hurt Garcia badly. Dunno why he wants to do this to himself. He says he wants to fight Spence before the end of the year, so that'll also be in November or December.

Shocked if Garcia/Spence actually happens. There are more reasonable and profitable fights out there for Garcia. Spence has been consistent about wanting to stake claim as the best of 147. He has only talked about unification since Day 1 of being a champion. What's in it for him to fight the 135 lb champion? Possibly, Garcia is simply trying to raise his profile/interest to lure Lomancenko or Pacquiao in the ring. Appearing to want to fight Spence raises his credibility and stature in the sport. None of the guys at 147 are calling out Spence and here comes this guy that just came up to 135 saying he wants all the smoke? Hummmm!!!

Since he says he wants to "clean up his side of the street" before fighting Crawford (the only guy who'll say Spence's name, but there's alotta politics in the way to make the fight), he says Garcia is the "biggest name" he can get right now due to Thurman being out and Porter and Danny Garcia fighting in September. This is what he said when asked about the fight.

somebody who's taking risks and taking fights that they aren't supposed to win. Champions aren't doing this these days, and it's making the sport way less exciting than it should be. With that said, most of us feel that Fury is the only heavyweight who gives Wilder real problems. Wilder is a true warrior, because he seeks out these kinds of fights. Regardless of the outcome, he's doing what I wish all champions would do, which is to go out and prove you're the best on the planet.

Should Wilder win this fight, he becomes the lineal heavyweight champion aka the man who beat the man, and Team Joshua really look like paper champs, holding on to hand-me-down belts while only taking fights where he's the favorite.

Kovalev was piecing Alvarez up pretty good right before the KO, but his so-called "krushing" power just wasn't having the affect that one would expect. Adonis Stevenson kept paying Alvarez step-aside money to fight other people, and I guess now we see why. Dude comes off a 14-month layoff and KO's Kovalev LOL. HBO and their bought commentators looking real salty right now, and John David Jackson probably hasn't stopped laughing since the fight ended.

125. "Another big upset this weekend: Natasha Jonas vs Viviane Obenauf"
In response to Reply # 0

The womens lightweight division is getting interesting. Katie Taylor is probably the most recognizable name (and best boxer) in the division, but there are also Chantelle Cameron (the KO artist) and Mikaela Mayer. Another prospect was coming along by the name of Natasha Jonas. She was beaten in the amateurs by Katie Taylor and had planned to fight her for the first time in the pros after her victory over Viviane Obenauf, who Taylor has beaten by UD and Cameron has KO'd. However, Viviane had other plans and KO'd Jonas in the 3rd round after knocking her down twice in the 2nd and once in the 3rd. Jonas' corner threw in the towel and the ref waved the bout off simultaneously. NOBODY was expecting this. It's shocking enough that she lost, but the way she lost was wildly unexpected. Obenauf is pretty much a gate keeper. All it'll take is a rematch with Cameron or Taylor for that belt to come up off her waist.

On another note, I had no faith in Jonas beating Katie Taylor, but her loss isn't as surprising to me as it is to most. It's a little ironic, because I was just telling a friend that I talk boxing with that I don't like Jonas' attitude toward the game, b/c she says "I'm just going to try to do my best" and live with the outcome. I think that's a losing attitude for a boxer to have. Fighting isn't something you "play" like other sports, and it's a one-on-one, so wins and losses are more in your control than other sports... so the objective should be to beat your opponent... to be the best, imo. Sure, she's free to view her career however she likes and to not take it very seriously, but I couldn't get behind a fighter with a "just do my best" attitude. Then lo and behold she gets knocked out the day after I say that.

In response to Reply # 0

Wilder vs Fury

The only heavyweight fight that really matters.

Wilder is aiming to be the man who beat the man to become the Lineal Heavyweight Champion.

Anthony Joshua is steady losing fans for ducking Wilder as he and his promoter hate on the Wilder vs Fury fight. Joshua's fighting next month, and it still isn't sold out, yet Hearn kept claiming that all his fights sold out in 3 minutes LOL. Stubhub changed their model to where you can't buy more than like 6 tickets at a time, so Team Joshua couldn't scalp the tickets anymore to push their lies. Their whole shit is falling apart, and things are moving right along beautifully for Wilder.

Now that Fury has had his 2 tune-up fights, he accepts Wilder's challenge, and the fight is on for Nov or Dec. The only date I've heard thus far is Nov. 10th, but I don't think the date is in ink yet.

In response to Reply # 0

Jose Pedraza captures the WBO belt off Beltran
That was a much better fight than anticipated... beautiful uppercut landed by Pedraza in the 11th to score the knockdown. I think Beltran needs to retire. At 37, he's never had any head movement, and he made Pedraza's jab look almost legendary, b/c it connected nearly every time it was thrown. That was just pathetic. Congrats to Pedraza for a dominant performance. He really overcame the odds, because ESPN's biased calling of the fight made it clear that they would've given it to Beltran if it was close. Pedraza seems to have really gotten focused since his only loss to Tank.
Pedraza will now unify with Lomachenko on December 1st. I got friends who are picking Pedraza, b/c they hate how Loma gets the media hype over other fighters who have better careers. I hate it too, and there are fighters I'd pick over Loma, but Pedraza ain't one of them lol. I think Loma beats him even if his shoulder isn't fully healed.

Super Featherweight, Robson Conceicao did his thing on the undercard. This guy was 405 - 15 in he amateurs, so people are expecting big things from him the pros. I got hip to him on this card and watched some older fights of his. Good fighter... one to watch. The 130 division gonna mess around and get hot out here.

Isaac Dogboe beat the shit out of another guy on the undercard. 2nd round KO. Lil tough ass super bantamweight guy with alotta punching power, complete with a Wakandan chant lol. I don't find him very impressive as a boxer, but power is always a factor. See also: Regis Prograis. They both take quite a few punches but just relentlessly come forward and smash opponents.

130. "Sept 8th... decent weekend. Props to Amanda Serrano."

Ladies first, Amanda Serrano joins Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya as 6-division champions with her UD victory against Yamila Reynoso.

Featherweight prospect Chris Colbert wins another decision against Fatiou Fassinou after taking Dulay's 0 back in April. They call Colbert "Lil B-hop." The kid is a joy to watch for any fans hitting and not getting hit.

Both of those fights were on the untelevised part of the undercard of the Shawn Porter vs Danny Garcia fight (you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3_gN06-kOc ), which Porter won due to outworking the more accurate Garcia.
It was announced some weeks ago that Spence would be fighting the winner of that fight, but Porter doesn't really appear to want to get in the ring very soon imo. I don't really blame him, but he gotta give up that belt.

Adam Kownacki beats Charles Martin in a very spirited heavyweight battle on the televised part of the Porter/Garcia undercard. Also on that card, Yordenis Ugas dominates Cesar Barrionuevo for a UD.

Amir Khan beats Samuel Vargas but proves his chin still ain't shit by getting floored in the 2nd. He did knock Vargas down twice tho. Not sure why he's had the nerve to call out Spence or Crawford if this level of comp is giving him problems.

132. "PBC / Al Haymon inks a super sweet deal. 2019 might be huge."
In response to Reply # 0

Right now, PBC pays for their spots on tv.
They just inked a deal where Showtime, Fox, and FS1, and Fox Deportes will pay the PBC. All 3 of the new channels will get about 20 fights per year if I'm not mistaken, so we'll see a LOT more televised fights. This is great for exposure. This is a big money deal that looks great for everyone fighting on PBC as well.
