Kuzma was a steal, and Nance Jr is criminally underrated, but otherwise whats there to point to and say "WOW!"

not busting on Ingram and Ball is not the same as making GREAT picks.

im not gonna defend Luke bc I havent watched them enough, but it sounds like Rob & Magic are being given passes they havent earned yet.

a truly great move would have landed them some veteran leadership.

i am seldom one to give credit to the lakers but given the situation they inherited they have made the right moves. drafting ball remains to be seen but they were decisive. kuzma was a nice pick. they got out from under the mozgov deal simply by moving on from a guy they wanted to move on from and they got kuzma in that deal. they have positioned themselves well for potentially two max UFAs or trade acquisitions in the summer. the new management is doing things right, even though they haven't made a huge splash yet

now mind you i am the most ardent opponent of the whole "CLEAR CAP SPACE FOR UFAS!!!!!" strategy. i have been a huge proponent of danny ainge for years and he, despite having signed hayward this summer, generally eschews the virtues of cap space. you are putting all your money on getting the one or two potential prizes that may or may not be out there in a given year and overwhelmingly in the NBA you are getting damaged goods in the UFA market. there are a lot more ben gordon, charlie v, elton brand and mozgov types in the UFA market tha there are lebron and bosh types.

but i dont think they should have gone overboard and besides they have guys like bogut (well, not for long), deng (experience is *all* he has left) and caldwell-pope. they aren't totally bereft of veterans, they just don't have much talent.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

they might free up the funds for two max contract stars, but will the stars come?

i mean, L.A. don't look like a GREAT place to play if you look at the basketball and not the locale.

kuzma is appealing, but ingram looks like a maybe and do you really wanna deal with hearing Lavar run his mouth about you in the media cuz you didn't sit with Lonzo on the team plane, or whatever his stupid weekly beef will continue to be with the teams his kids play for?

as said, the team is missing vets across the board and if one of those "splash" signings is Paul George? i mean, George is a nice player but he's not a "lead your team to a ring" type player.

point is, people should definitely slow their roll on patting magic and pelinka on the back.

this core of young guys isn't good enough to win but maybe combining it with two big-ticket guys will work. i have been extremely critical of the lakers but i can't hate this strategy. it's their only play really. will it work? maybe. will it bring them back to being a title contender? the odds are stacked heavily against that. but you have to look at the situation pelinka and magic took over and what they have done since. i think in terms of penny thrifty moves, they have made the right ones, and nothing says they are pound foolish just yet. they have an exit strategy from the mess they inherited and a vision for the future, even if that vision doesn't stack up against say those of boston, philadelphia and milwaukee.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

watching Swaggy P, Sweet Lou and J Crossover walk to other teams this offseason in FA

I have to scratch my head at the LAL's continued issue with having a legit 3Pt threat

if you're going to say they made the right moves

I guess Lopez, Bogut and a few rookies were suppose to fix that?

They have hit HRs on their late picks

maybe they should just trade any subsequent lottery picks and move down in the drafts

If they've made all the right moves, why are they the 2nd worst team in the league?

injuries and young players given, they should be better than just better than the hawks.

made the right moves implies the FO did their job
are you saying the players aren't doing their job
or the HC

they are mutually exclusive

---------------------------------------------------------------

If you can't understand it without an explanation

you can't understand it with an explanation

>watching Swaggy P, Sweet Lou and J Crossover walk to other

you're cysing swaggy p? shall i say, BOY, BYE now or wait until the end of the post? i'll continue.

>I have to scratch my head at the LAL's continued issue with
>having a legit 3Pt threat

i mean they just had two of the three guys you named and it didn't exactly buoy them in the standings.

>if you're going to say they made the right moves
>
>I guess Lopez, Bogut and a few rookies were suppose to fix
>that?

dumping mozgov's deal AND making what seems like a fair deal in the process (russell for kuzma) is pretty much a transactional coup. kuzma and ball have been among their best players this year. yes, this group made the right moves out of a shit situation that they inherited.

>They have hit HRs on their late picks
>
>maybe they should just trade any subsequent lottery picks and
>move down in the drafts

i still think ingram will be a player. i wasn't really on board with the ball pick but they already had a SF and the guy they want to lure in the offseason is also a SF so did tatum or jackson really make sense there?

>If they've made all the right moves, why are they the 2nd
>worst team in the league?

jesus christ, dude, they were already that and you don't go from worst to first in the NBA. this isn't the NHL. it is a long process. they have set themselves up well after multiple seasons of reeling from the howard/nash debacle.

>injuries and young players given, they should be better than
>just better than the hawks.

>made the right moves implies the FO did their job
>are you saying the players aren't doing their job
>or the HC
>
>they are mutually exclusive

dude i just spent years cysing hinkie while the sixers were in the cellar and i was right. i don't see this as being *as* good of a job as hinkie did (or ainge did while the celtics sucked) but the moves they made have been positive and the real trial will be this coming summer if they manage to do anything with the cap space they have.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

he can be sorta hard to avoid if he's talking about the coach. even if he's mostly up to foolishness, he can be entertaining.

I mainly read the articles on him if he's talking about Luke. otherwise, I can pretty much stay clear of anything else.

from the games I've seen, consistent rotations seem to be an issue. nobody knows how long they'll play. I get going with the hot hand or pulling people because of effort, but does anyone ever play for a specified set of minutes?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Definitely a game changer

Marked difference without him

While all the haters continue to focus on his shot...no argument about all of the other areas he excels in...which is basically everything

Shot starts dropping, homie climbs the ladder

I work in med devices

Dr I worked with yesterday is close to my age and we have more of friendly relationship

He calls me over and says look at this, with smartphone in hand live streaming the game yesterday

Over 100K viewers

...and you're calling him a dumbass...

I don't have a problem with him saying whatever he wants to

I have a problem with outlets giving him a platform and then complaining about it

Try to focus on the message instead of the messenger

He's been right about more than Luke

and so far he hasn't actually DONE a whole lot except raise some talented and respectful sons (which is commendable on its own).

He's got the platform to attempt alot of things that others have talked about, and I also appreciate him for that, but I'm not holding my breath that he can make any of his ideas successful without some gigantic assists (like Vince McMahon throwing his 100 million in WWE stock into a joint venture with Lavar). Most likely, he'll inspire someone else with the resources and the know how to try as well.
