-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Players in the East, ranked by the AVERAGE OF THEIR RANKS in Box Plus-Minus, Wins Over Replacement Player, Win Shares, Win Shares per 48 Minutes, Player Efficiency Rating, Real Plus-Minus and Real Plus-Minus Wins.

1. James
2. Giannis
3. Irving
4. Horford
5. Lowry
6. Drummond
7. Oladipo
8. Otto Porter
9. DeRozan
10. Love
11. Kemba
12. Vucevic
13. Embiid
14. Tatum
15. Dinwiddie

In a just world, Porter and Tatum get All-Star consideration. They’re more efficient/two-way than some of the players who will make the team.

Otto might never make one just because he's happy putting up an efficient and consistent 15/5 to help win more than padding so he gets those all-star numbers.

He's also the most efficient 4th quarter scorer.

Combine that with his terrific defense and the fact that he's on the current 1st place team in the East, the team with the best road record in the East, and I think he merits serious consideration.

I was merely saying he's worth All-Star consideration and forming the argument. Atlanta got four All-Stars in the East in 2015, and they never won shit. They were just *winning.* Only two games ahead of Boston at this point in the season too.

(Granted, they kept winning at a high rate past this point in the season. But my general point remains.)

In response to Reply # 12

Tatum is the better shooter. Averages more assists, more steals, fewer turnovers. Tatum is five inches shorter and thirty-five pounds lighter than Zingis, but he only averages one rebound fewer per game. Defensively, Tatum is unquestionably the better and more versatile player. Tatum's 4Q numbers are superior. Tatum's a key component on the best team in the East, whereas Zingis is a Top 4 usage player in the NBA on a sub-.500 team. I could easily argue that if you doubled Tatum's usage that he could score four more buckets per game and match Zingis's scoring numbers.

I understand that Zingis will get it over Tatum. I hear that argument, duh. But if you want me to make an argument for my guy on that list? There it is.

I mostly just wanted to point out that, as people are making these lists and they're getting down to the last 2-3 guys in the East, Tatum is worth consideration. He's closer to AS quality than some may think.

He'd need for Boston to be at, like, 12-13 losses by the ASG and he'd need a couple of injuries to stars to have a realistic shot as a rookie/third guy on a team. If those two things happened, I'd start beating the drum a lot more passionately. As noted in the list I originally posted, he'd probably be at the tail end of my Top 15 in the East.

>Defensively, Tatum is
>unquestionably the better and more versatile player. Tatum's

lolz. Porzingis is an elite rim protector (1st in the NBA in defensive FG% in the restricted area, 2nd in BLK%, 3rd in BPG) and anchors his teams' defense. He's clearly the higher impact defensive player.

>4Q numbers are superior. Tatum's a key component on the best

>the NBA on a sub-.500 team. I could easily argue that if you
>doubled Tatum's usage that he could score four more buckets

Exactly - Tatum is a component surrounded by a really good team. He doesn't have the burden of carrying a team like Porzingis does. KP has to do way more by himself as the focal point on offense and the defensive anchor on the other end. If Tatum had to carry the scoring load like KP does he could score more, sure (although matching KP's scoring numbers would be a stretch - you don't just double your usage and automatically add 10ppg that easily.) And his efficiency would also drop + it would take a toll on his defense as he would have less energy to expend on the other end (and he would also average more turnovers as he has a higher TO% than KP.)

>I understand that Zingis will get it over Tatum. I hear that
>argument, duh. But if you want me to make an argument for my
>guy on that list? There it is.

Tatum's really good and is worthy of being in the discussion for all-star consideration. but this is basically a "given the minutes" argument.

they're borderline of course, and I don't get up-in-arms about All-Star bids either way, but they deserve consideration.

And that's why they r going to need Paul in the playoffs. Harden has a tendency to do way too much in the big spots....

but harden extended his forearm in the first one and smart definitely had position and the second he had just been called and warned (I bet if it were mid second quarter, he'd have gotten T'd up for bumping into smart w/ the ball and talking) and ran into smart's position.

You literally *just* were called on the last play, it's a road game, and the ref *just* had a talk with the two of you before the inbound attempt. Zero sympathy from me on that shit.

He's got to be the only big star in the league dumb enough to realize, "Okay, I can't do that shit AGAIN."

I was stunned Houston didn't bring other players in the front court to make that entry pass easier. If memory serves me right, Ariza had problems making that entry pass before the first offensive foul was called.

seems a bit much for the fraction of 1% of nba games a ref goes down

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

23/9/2 while leading that team to the 3 seed without Kawhi is impressive enough - but even more so in taking into account his disastrous year there last year.
