Eh. The "mamba" thing is emblematic of Kobe's approach to the game. It's taking the whole "leaving your imprint on the team/game" concept to admiteddly new and literal heights, but the symbolism is inarguably appropriate if Kobe's getting a hand in the design.
Conversely, 100k checks for gambling debts are emblematic of MJ's complete lack of self-discipline away from the game.
Love or loathe the design, I mean that much is subjective. I just think that particular direction, regardless of the end-product, makes perfect sense beyond simple ego trippin.

but i get it, too, big marketing opportunity for him as a nike guy, too. you know they roll out a big mamba pack in lakers colors with the print (similar to the KB6) and it will kill.
jersey itself, well i am just opposed to a black alt in general for the lakers (and a lot of other teams, too) but as those go these came out pretty well. the all-over print is risky but i think it came out OK, the cleveland and atlanta ones also did a decent job of using that kind of design.

I guess people might think they're trying too hard with the modern elements (like the 'razor' cut logo) but I really like these. Especially with the lighter blue compression pants.
