via reddit It was pointed out today on r/nba that since The Ringer's article about how great the Raptor's bench is, the bench has been 2nd worst in the league with a net rating of -14.3.... This is one example of The Ringer hyping a person / team, and then them performing awfully = Ringer Curse. Here's my favorite recent example: December 1st, 2017 - 8:09AM, Ringer publishes: "It’s Time to Take Andre Drummond and the Pistons Seriously" - December 1st - December 12th - Pistons loose 7 straight games.

He is so fluid ...he is a cross between Gervin and Alex English..but taller. Ball hasn't learned to really find him in stride. It will happen, if you don't jinx it with all this damn cysing. Kuzma is a more traditional type wing so its easier for Ball to pick his spots to set him up. Magic would be dumb to trade Kuzma. The Lakers have the pieces....this is like the Dubs when Mark Jackson was coaching....they just need seasoning.

It’s not even the qty of turnovers that’s frustrating but the type. The shooting is what it is until we’re able to improve over the summer and also find select personnel who can take advantage of the great looks we do get. Today’s game epitomized just how powerful shooting is bc Cleveland not only completely outshot us from distance but it was on tougher, contested looks as well.
All in all, I’m happy with the road trip. Could have been 3-1 but every game was competitive due to our defensive focus, keep on working on cleaning up the turnovers and offensive sets.

yes, including Luke's first year. Luke gets blame for that too.
So what was the first point of emphasis for this year? Defense. Despite the offensive woes, Lakers have been able to hang their hat on defense this year. Shooting is streaky, but defense has kept them in games.
I've always maintained that Luke was going to get hired that year, REGARDLESS of who the current Lakers coach was. You put any coach in Byron's spot at the time Luke was available and unless that coach's name was "Popovich" that person was gone. Luke had so many obvious ties to the organization that, if he wanted the job, he was going to get it. Byron happened to be there at the time so he got the axe.
But that would have been true for any coach, black or white.
