"Can one of the college b-ball/Duke heads School me on Quinn Cook?"

He started the year on the Warrior’s G-League team. Played a little early in the season, but mostly stuck around in Santa Cruz. Then Curry got hurt and they brought him back. He’s been making the most of his opportunity so far. He started a couple of games ago and was good. And he was good off the bench last night. If there’s one thing the team could use it’s a smaller PG off the bench.

Just looking for a little background on the guy. Like what I see so far.

Terrific shooter, understands defensive schemes, willing to make the extra pass. No ego.

Killer numbers in the D-League the last year or two because he can score so many different ways. But more important when he was at Duke, he knew his role. Get the ball to the stars, make your shots, help keep defenses honest by forcing defenders to keep an eye on you.

I’d love to see him stay on the GSW roster. They’ve done a great job finding players who fit their roster needs beautifully. I think Cook is one of those guys. I hope he continues to play well and continues to back up the Golden State guards with great efficiency. He’s one of my favorite Duke players the last few years for the reasons stated above, and I don’t think we win the title in 2015 without his lack of ego.

They're working on signing him to a two-year deal before the April 10 deadline so that he can (and will) play in the post-season.

Smart move. He's basically the exact type of back-up PG we've always needed. And we're certainly going to need to have him available to start until Steph is healthy.

Only question that remains is who gets cut. Probably Casspi, since his ankle is still gimpy. If he was healthy, I'd say they would think about cutting Nick Young. Yeah, he can get hot and score, but he really hasn't done much to take advantage of the opportunities that he's had in the last month or so.

I mentioned in the O.G. post that he was making the most of his opportunity, and that was before Steph started being out for prolonged periods. Cook is even better now. Elevated his game at the exact right time.

I honestly hope they make him their long-term back-up PG. Next year is the last year of Livingston's contract, and I hope they try to lock-up Cook for a while after that.

Quinn is expected to sign by Tuesday. First two-way player in NBA history to earn a postseason roster invite that same season. Thrilled for this guy— and happy to have rooting interest in the Warriors now.

Ever since the rash of injuries, he's been about the exact opposite of Cook. He hasn't done much of anything they'd brought him in to do. Very little scoring, and not much defense.

Couldn't be happier for the guy. He'll get to rack up some winning experience, work alongside some of the best guards/players in the game, and hopefully earn a long-term contract for big money when the two years are up.
