they'll fire him midseason next year, either because the rebuild isn't working or Bron wants his guy in that spot.

Whitesplain it to me (c) OE

other than his association with the aforementioned names

On what basis are we including 'greatness' with Luke Walton?

They're talking chip...based on a mighty mighty cloak.

I don't see it.

EVAH

My team has had absolutely no identity during his tenure

Offesive plays, defensive gameplans, etc...

completely absent

prior to the emergence of The Process and Al B Simmons = just give them the ball and get out of the way.

I'm wondering out loud if LAL fans see it...?

We always have these ridiculous stretches where everything snowballs - stop executing offensively, series of defensive mistakes - and we let teams back into the game. Today, that was compounded by the missed fts (12/24...I mean cmon) and then Joel controlling the Sixers offense in the 4th which led to great looks.

Wild final 2 mins - great Zomposure to kick the ball out to BI for the dagger.

and that's not an excuse. that's a function of an injury to dario and the reality of our challenge going forward. if i can compliment the lakers rebuilding for a second, it's pretty encouraging that they have so much young athleticism and scoring coming off the bench. hinkie and colangelo haven't been able to provide us that kind of depth yet.

shouts also to brandon ingram. that dude went to the weight room in the offseason, and it's now obvious his body can handle even more muscle. he's going to be strong enough to play the 4, which will make him a problem. he's never going to be ben, but he's going to make his fair share of all star teams.

it's telling the sixers have lost to two bad but athletic perimeter teams this week. covington is our only perimeter defender i trust right now. simmons is so much better than we thought he'd be early and will be a defensive monster, but he's still prone to rookie mistakes and he'll never be able to guard the quickest perimeter players. we desperately need an avery bradley/pat beverly type.

that said, how about we stop reading our press clippings and play defense in the first half, guys.

and i've never seen jj redick hit a shot for the sixers until we're down double digits in the fourth. jesus christ, he was some shit last night.

Things have fallen off a cliff the last couple weeks.

If we're competitive and winning enough that the losses are realistically chalked up to the youth of the roster and a learning curve for a young head coach, keep that leash long and loose.

Right now though? Zo's absence notwithstanding- and I do think that's a bigger loss than his detractors may want to admit, Lopez as well-I think Luke needs a wakeup call.

I love JYJ but he shouldn't be playing center apart from an occasional strategic lineup for matchup purposes.

Too much one on one right now, not enough ball movement, and shoddy D are killing us.

LAL are in a tough position, as these Ls only guarantee they won't hold on to their 1st rounder

+

They have been talking FA 18' for at least 2 years

PG seems all but a lock

but he can't save them

...and with all of this disfunction, I can't imagine other big name FAs picking this club over other offers...

alot of folks are saying hold on to a few players, and clear the roster

^^^still don't see how that's enticing to FAs

I think the cloak can do better than blow it up and build around PG

that would also extend Luke's leash with the built in plea cop that his roster got dismantled

We'll see what happens when Zo gets back

He definitley brought the energy every night, along with alot of other intangibles that people want to overlook because of his shooting

...but I don't think he can save them either...

bottom line, this club should be better than the ORL and SACs of the league

even considering youth and injuries

but they aren't, and it feels alot to me like putting Luke's head on the chopping block is the only real change they can make in season to right the ship

the continued Ls are doom for the LAL.

bitches who thought they knew everything about basketball after reading a few Hollinger articles were acting Byron Scott didn't understand basic basketball concepts after 30+ years in the NBA playing for people like Pat Riley and Larry Brown then coaching his own team to back to back Finals. Pretty much the same for Mike Brown.

And its nothing new, in sports talk there's always they thinly veiled racist stream of thought that black coaches are just somehow not as smart as white coaches. They just don't have the "intellect" to coach things like offense. Simmons was the king of that and that's why I always hated that racist fuck.

The most sickening part and there are some "black" people on this board who have bought into that bullshit and parrot some of the same shit.

Back to Luke I actually like him but it is painfully obvious that he is in way over his head. He got a ton of mileage for keeping the Warriors machine on the road for that incredible start to the 2015-2016, that and his last name had people thinking he was above reproach. He still hasn't figured out Golden State's system doesn't work if you don't have Golden State's players. We don't have anybody that's anywhere near as good a shooter as Steph or Klay. Julius Randle is not Draymond Green, different skillset, different mentality. With the Warriors blueprint not working in LA Luke is lost and doesn't know what else to do.

fan of Byron as a person, halfway as a coach.

It seems like from what I can see, Luke may be liked by the players more, but his rotations are off. Mike never seemed to be able to control the egos that he had to deal with. Byron didn't have shit to work with, and basically let Kobe do what he wanted to do. I understand why he slowly unrolled D-Lo, and I feel that strategy helped to make him solid, vs forcing him to thrive early.

I haven't really hated any of these three coaches overall...our roster will only let us be but so good. We have competed the most with Luke, but we've SUCKED at closing out games, and some of that has been his fault for sure. His defense has been better than I expected, though.

But to everyone who was super high on him solely because of his stint with the Warriors...I KNEW that wouldn't mean shit at all. They were a well oiled machine, and got damn Randy Pfund coulda had them at 36-2.

I know it's way more to it, and it's not all about numbers, but that was just the coldest deal ever. IF he had truly lost the locker room and there was no hope, I get it, but on paper, that sounded cruel to me.

Had that team won something like the SVG Heat team then that’d be a raw deal. But they didn’t. Of the last 4 coaches...Browns probably been the best and as CC said he was a casualty of a premiere Big name team not winning. He also panicked and left starters in a game when they were up 20.

But now we are seeing that he wasn't ready for prime time and it's hard to tell if he will get there.

The Lakers have been a very dysfunctional organization, in a lot of ways than are more stable now than they were under Scott, Brown or D'Antoni, but the downside is that they suck much worse than they did under D'Antonio or Brown, just not a ton of talent there and no developed talent at all.

Brown again I think is in exactly the right role now, top assistant on a top team. It lets him address the areas where he is a genius without worry about others where he is maybe a little below the curve. Scott I think had already run his course as an NBA coach but was a good fit for a transition period (they needed a familiar face who was dignified and strong enough to deal with an obvious dead-end gig). Pringles we have seen is that dude, still waiting on apologies from many. Walton I think is looking pretty saucy about now, above all I don't think he is firm enough. I agree with Lavar Ball on that one, oddly.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

He was terrible with the Lakers. Yes, they were a bad team, but he benched Pau and tried to make him shoot 3s. He tried to make the team fit his style of play which was dumb. I’m not surprised he’s thriving with a team that shoots the 3 at a high rate and passes well...and he definitely thrives with the right weapons but that’s no excuse for benching the teams best player.

Think of it in football terms. Not every great defensive coordinator is a good head coach. Yes there is more offense/defense division there but it still applies in basketball. There are a lot of coaches who really, really excel in some areas but can't do it all as well as they can play to their strengths. That's Brown.

If we were talking about those guys I'd have critiques for them. The fact that there is a double standard doesn't mean every black coach is beyond reproach. I play both sides, I have trashed George Karl and guys who fit the bill you're talking about also. Them being bad doesn't automatically make every coach who doesn't fall into that paradigm good ipso facto. Way to capitalize RACIST, wow, that really got me!

Football is totally different. But not every offensive coordinator is a not good head coach either. All head coaches excel in certain areas and rely on assistants to cover other areas but for some reason with black coaches it’s always inferred that their “not intelligent enough” to understand certain things. There are white head coaches whose expertise is on the defensive side in football and basketball but somehow their intelligence is never questioned.

At NO POINT did I say Brown was "not intelligent enough" just please STFU. The same thing with the white coaches who get jobs until they are 70. If we were talking about George Karl or Don Nelson or whomever, I would have talked about their faults and the fact that some of those guys being employed until they are dead is ridiculous. We were talking about Walton, Brown and Scott and I think I have been fair but critical of all three.

When it comes to questions about things outside of his control, Zo always answers in this manner. If you consistently watch his interviews, he always says: I can’t control that so I don’t worry about it, I just play basketball.

Par for the course for Lonzo, nothing to do with how he feels.

I like Luke and want to see him win. But when you have a stretch like we just had, its natural to wonder if he still has the locker room.

As stated above though....he hasn't shown me anything that says he is better than Mike Brown or Byron Scott.

Lonzo is THAT great but he's really the only legit PG we have on the roster. To this day I still don't understand why we didn't sign a veteran PG to back him up.

The team plays its best when we get stops and then play at pace. Lonzo is the best rated defender on this team and there's zero doubt as to how his outlets and pace affect the type of shots we get.

Lolz @ "Lavar smoked out the fact"....there's no fact - it's all conjecture. All the rest is based on the conditional that Luke isn't supported by the Lakers, there's zero evidence to support that so the rest is all assumptive drivel. Notice how none of Windhorst's execs or agents ever said anything about Luke's job status.

So much garbage that comes out for attention these days and cats continue to support it by clicking on it, sharing it, etc.
