If you want Bron, go after Bron.

But as for them other max slots....LaVine, Smart, Cuz or DJ.

BI will be better than PG this time next year. *shrug*

Replaces Lopez, shoots the 3 tremendously well which would fit Walton's plans. Would give the Lakers with Ingram/Kuzma/Cousins one of the better frontcourts in the NBA by next year. Outside of his 3-point shooting, there's nothing George provides that Ingram doesn't right now-- and if they signed a different max player that can shoot 3s and some other shooting pieces, then that element is taken care of anyhow.

My suggestion if they get Cousins, which probably won't go over well with some but whatever, would be to maybe look at Chris Paul-- ideally not for a longer deal, maybe a shorter and pricier deal, if he'd be interested-- to come in, help the Lakers win right away with that frontcourt while mentoring Lonzo and putting less pressure on him to need to do everything as a 20-year-old PG.

Or, y'know, just sign Bron to run the point and mentor Lonzo.

But I agree, I don't know why you'd sign George to the max for his 20/6/3 when Ingram is 20 right now and already giving you 16/6/3 at the same position on a rookie deal for the next three years.

I flew out to sac last year for 1st away game there...the antics you see on TV are about 1/3 of what you see in person, I felt embarrassed for him.

Do not want him on the team and additionally, we only play a true 5 for approx 20-25 mins per game and never down the stretch of games bc we switch everything defensively.

I almost made a post about it. And that doesn't even factor in any sideline antics (I've never seen him live).

I will keep it simple and say he needs give up trying to shoot the three and stay in the paint. At least in this point of his career.

I haven't seen him play in person, I'll leave it there. I've wondered how much of his antics are fueled by the fact that he's been playing with losers his entire professional career-- though that obviously raises questions about maturity in the face of adversity, it's an understandable sentiment for a guy who's clearly worked his ass off to elevate every facet of his game.

ryen russillo says he's talked to execs from all 30 teams about cousins, and literally 2/3 of them wouldn't want him anywhere near their squad at any cost. like, even at vet-min.

dude's apparently the most unlikeable, easily irritated, biggest locker room cancer imaginable. just a horrible person to be around.

at this point i believe every word of those apocryphal nik stauskas stories (that he basically high-school-bullied dude from day 1 and made his life an absolute living hell every single day for no reason whatsoever)

apparently he just Did Not Like dude, from jump. for whatever reason. and just physically intimidated and psychologically tortured the cat any and every chance he got. and obviously no reins/accountability from the front office / mgmt out there.

dude just basically ruined a guy who might've helped him win some games.

I’ve also heard a bunch of those stories - the Stauskas ones made my blood boil bc it was essentially this clown taking his own insecurities and issues out on another person and ruining their career in the meantime.

When I saw him in person, I literally had to rub my eyes a few times and turn to the friend who I was with to confirm that he was seeing the childish shit that I was seeing...I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt but it was so bad man, it cemented everything I had heard (I also have a significant amount of inside info on this dude and the Kings in general bc I have a close friend who was in the PR department there - now she works for the Cubs - and Boogie’s agent had a thing for her lol...let’s just say I have some stories about Vivek’s daughter lol)

1. You've got Mike Malone as your head coach or are prepared to hire him as you head coach.

2. You're a good team with an established locker room culture and established vocal leaders and a strong veteran presence. And with a coach that everyone respects and listens to.

If you've got a young team still "finding itself," I can't see Cousins working out. At least not this point in his career.

He has an interesting skill set and measurables but honestly I don't think he wants it bad enough. He doesn't have enough dog in him.

When KCP isn’t in the game, BI is already guarding smaller wings and thus far, he has our highest individual def rating. Additionally, playing them together would fit right into our team defensive system which is predicated on switching, especially down the stretch of games where we switch on everything.

Our plan is to have as many interchangeable pieces as possible so PG fits in extremely well. Additionally, he can shoot and is dynamic offensively which are our biggest needs.

actually I was looking back at old Ingram posts a couple of weeks ago and found this and was going to up it then but then I thought it would be more dramatic if I waited until the actual anniversary date and I was right.

No I'm just the only Laker fan here that's a realist since the days when you were wearing Mitch Kuchak pajamas while he was ruining the end of Kobe's career.

Ingram is a solid player but I've never seen the "star" he was supposed to become. When there was talk of potential trades for All-Star players we were constantly told that Ingram was "untouchable". Now he doesn't even really have to be a "star" just be a consistent #2 scoring option and he can't even manage that.

Its funny I believe the "Nyquil" nickname created for George fits Ingram to a T. The ridiculous dust-up against Houston early in the season was the most passion I've seen out of Ingram at any point in his pro career. Most of the time he looks like he's half asleep. He has all the talent and ability but he just doesn't have enough dog in him and that's one of those things that either you have it or you don't.

No. He's not.

He may be. I HOPE he will be. But right now - no, he's not better than Paul George by any metric.

In response to Reply # 77

Considering he's averaged 29.33 a game on 57% shooting in the three games since the all star break.

The lakers also have a better defensive rating with him on the floor.

Further, his numbers are similar to those of George, Butler, Giannis, and Kawhi at this stage in their respective careers.

So if/when he pops, I'd expect that to happen about the same time they did.

In response to Reply # 79

Year 5-6 is when they entered that elite tier, though Giannis did that in year 4.

If you're pressing someone for a shorter timetable, take that up with Basa. The corny, grandstanding, agenda-bot blowhard gimmick is his thing, not mine.

I have my frustrations with BI's consistency. But he's 21, in his third year, shooting 49%, playing good defense, and showing serious signs of developing that consistency.

Again, he's not entirely consistent just yet. But he's on his way and the only good reason not to be patient with him is.....uh..... there isn't one.

We got Brawn, that sped up the timeframe considerably, Magic and Rob are playing to Brawn's 4 year contract and not the development of our youth.

So here we are.

But BI is on his way, and he'll likely be playing at a level somewhere lose to the other wings I named at the same stage of their careers, more than ready to take the reigns at that point.

That's not counting Kuzma, who I think is on a similar trajectory despite some really bad habits right now.

And yeah...Zo is special too.

I honestly think all these guys would have had a better season, and we'd currently have a better record, without Brawn.

It's fun to cut and paste and read part of a statement as though it existed in a vacuum. Lord knows that makes it easier to appear to be able to make a point.

Problem is, the full statement is still there.

I believe in this kid.

Doesn't mean he'll be the stud I envision. He may be something less. Who knows.

But he's only 21people shitting on him like he's sorry are either being flat out dishonest in that assessment, or just ain forget that an awful lot of these guys take about 5 years to develop into the player they'll be for their career.

I just named four, three of who are MVP candidates, who had very similar numbers at the same stage of their careers.
