4. "Nets going to the playoffs! nets going to the playoffs!" In response to Reply # 0 Fri Oct-13-17 07:37 AM by ShawndmeSlanted
How you ask? Eastern conference
But who will miss that made it last year? Easy: Atlanta, Indiana Chicago and any non Cle or Bos team is 1 injury away from missing too
But what about the other teams? Miami, Detroit, and Philly should be the other 3 playoff teams —at least what most experts think. I think Miami is clearly a head above that group if they stay healthy. Whose to say Detroit actually gels and aren’t just a bad team for the current NBA style of play? Btw Stanley still better than Justise (hi ba). And philly has potential but it’s a completely different team without embiid.
What about the Knicks? LOL
Ok fine, what about Charlotte? Without Batum early on they will struggle and they don’t really have the talent to make up for it.
So what makes the Nets special? Well besides the chosen one Jeremy Lin... they actually play a style of ball that anyone who has followed on this board will remember me talking about being a key to success in the NBA. They play hard, they play as a team, and they hustle And do a lot of little things. This won’t win them an nba championship or even a playoff game, but in the regular season, this is generally a formula for success when you have the toll of a long season. This becomes more evident mid and late season. We’ve seen this lost recently from a Atlanta team Atkinson was a staff on and in the past with an Orlando magic team. Like last year, the team has nothing to “tank” for. As long as they stay healthy they will be scrappy every night.
That’s it? Well the other advantage they have is they’ve built a team and system Round the space and pace of the modern NBA game play. 2 ballhandlers with lots of guys who can hit the 3 at a high %. Because of their size or lack therof, they will struggle guarding guys like Embiid—lucky for them there aren’t many guys like that in the league. A taste of how they can play was seen in preseason. They played some bad teams and got blown out by the 6ers. But there was a period in the start of the game vs the 6ers where they were putting on a show til they took Lin and Dlo out. The second unit imploded. That was the first game Kenny didn’t really have lin or dlo in the game because he was experimenting with lineups, and you could see how disorganized the offense was immediately. Earlier in preseason he talked about how one of them would always be on the court. Despite the huge blowout when Lin was -6 and Dlo -5inbthe game. The nets have an easy schedule to start the season and I’m predicting they start October 5-3 or 6-2 . Again for the nets like a lot of teams they are oneninjury away from disaster here. If any of you like betting season over under a I’d definitely play nets + 27.5 and if the odds are good on them making the playoffs I’d take that too

East 1. Cavs (It is what it is...) 2. Mil (Yup) 3. Celts (They will score the hell out of the ball....But I see some real issues on defense and rebounding) 4. Washington 5. Toronto 6. Hornets 7. Sixers (sneaky team if they can stay healthy....IF) 8. Pistons
ECF: Cavs over Mil
WEST 1. Golden State (Dat firepower) 2. OKC (Melo's redemption...Westbrook will be even more dangerous. And Paul George will be top 3 scoring in the league)... 3. Rockets (They will push any team in the West to the brink....That bench is going to be an issue though).... 4. Min 5. SA 6. Denver 7. Portland 8. New Orleans
WCF: GS over OKC
Finals: GS in 7 over Cavs....Gonna be a tight series....

they're legitimately 2 deep at every position. nene, gordon, mbah a moute and tucker, with either paul or harden quarterbacking, is prolly the best second unit in the league.

I read this without looking at the username and thought, "That's preposterous." I didn't realize it was Kira doing the Cavs-inverse-jinx thing again. Kudos.

How dare you accuse me of a reveres jinx. I never reverse jinx my teams.
The Wiz main problems were closing games last year. One season of coming together to jell, learning from all those lost games in crucial moments, and new additions should make the Wiz better the Cavs. John Wall about to shit on everybody who doubted him again.
This Cavs team is frail as shit. Bron, Love, Wade, Rose, IT all miss extended time at some point this season with the caveat that one or two of them may miss the playoffs. SMH at y'all acting like the east is the Cavs to win.
Boston is young, hungry, and this is Ky's version of Kobe's revenge season. Stevens does the best coaching job of his career and gets Boston to the finals. Y'all can archive it and all that.

DPOY: Draymond (Dark Horses: Gobert if they make the offs, or Embiid if he plays 55+ games) ROY: Dennis Smith Jr. (Dark Horse: Malik Monk, who's gonna shoot a looooot on a decent-ish team. Also Donovan Mitchell, who's just dope) 6th Man: A repeat seems likely. Lou Will in LA, maybe Gordon again with the shots he's about to be fed, but possibly Barton in Denver on a contract year. COY: Stevens (Dark Horse: Snyder or Malone)

MVP: LeBron
DPOY: Rudy
MIP: Rodney Hood
ROY: Benny
6th man: Eric Gordon
coach: Thibs
Embiid plays 50 games, 30 minute cap on minutes, puts up huge #s
Zo struggles to score/shoot, but he changes the culture of the lakers & at least 2 of other guys are gonna have career years playing with him
DSJ doesn't match Stevie Franchise's rookie #s but is 2nd in ROY votes
GSW wins 65+ games & beats houston in the conference finals, Cleveland wins 52 games & beats boston in the conference finals, GSW beat Cleveland 4-1 with a couple blowouts.
