-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Damn, 148 mill after playing 38 games makes him a get the bag hall of famer. What does he have to put up for this to not look like a bad deal? I expect franchise cornerstone numbers at that price but maybe that's just me.

He straight up Cassidy'd the Sixers.

Look at the numbers he did in limited minutes. If he can stay healthy and star's minutes, hell yes he will be putting up franchise cornerstone numbers.

The only reason this guy isn't being cysed to death is injuries. If healthy IMO he will be the best center in the league, and at a time when the position has quietly regained depth/quality.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

That's not projection. If all Embiid ever does is play 70 games a year that replicates his production last year, that's a hall of fame player. He was in the Larry Bird/Tim Duncan tier of rookie impact.

Now, there's no more than a 10 percent chance than he plays 70 game each year of this contract. We all know that. But healthy Embiid has a very good chance of becoming the best player in the league. I'm with the Sixers: let's lock this dude up, set controls for the heart of the sun, and go for it.

If Joel averaging 20/8/2/1/2.5 on 46% shooting over 30 games is "thirty HOF games," then how is Baby Zeke averaging 29/3/6/1/0 on 46% shooting over 76 games "zero HOF games"?

he's not making a projection on him actually making it to the HOF. he's saying that right today he gives HOF caliber production when he's on the court.

Since you asked, I left because people became fixated on one poorly chosen word and ignored the substance of what I was saying, or just sort of laughed at what I said.

Don’t hear many laughs today

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

no, it's always funny to say someone is "at minimum a HOFer" after 31 games and claim that's not a projection. if OE said that there would be twice the amount of replies making fun of him. i don't even think this contract is bad, but that statement is funny.

...usually shake them all off and go on to have long, storied NBA careers in which they rarely miss more than a game or two per season.

That's how it usually happens. Good extension. Yep.

Honestly, he’s too special for me to alienate people by being a dick about it. If you say bad shit about him, I’m gonna clown you and forget it immediately. Don’t let me get in the way of appreciating this guy.

Aka, this is what complete confidence sounds like.

No one is handing out $148M before the deal even expires if they aren't confident. I didn't wanna jinx it at the time but I thought so immediately. 70 minutes in three nights just now. Great sign. Please let this guy stay healthy, for the good of the sport.

in the last 4 seasons he's only played about 40 games, so we'll see.

Do we really need to go through the list of people like Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway who looked like they were on their way to being first ballot HOF'ers and didn't make it and those dudes accomplished a helluva lot more than Embiid in his 43 game career, so can we just say Embiid is good and lets see what he does without making over the top long range projections?

And he'll make it in. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up first-ballot, frankly. Seven-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA, one of the greatest college careers of all time, and he's insanely popular with everyone who votes on these sorts of things.

Grant should be too, T-Mac’s prime was slightly longer but when you figure in Grant’s college career I think that puts him over the top

I'd hope so, I'd love to see him continue to develop for years to come.

In some ways I think his early injuries may have even been blessing in disguise. With all the time he spent recovering and being held out of full blown practices you can tell he spent a lot of time in the gym alone or with a coach working on basic fundamentals like footwork, ballhandling, shooting, stuff that he didn't necessarily have coming out of Kansas. If he had come into the league playing and starting from day 1 he may not have had time perfect those skills.

but medicine has come a long way since guys like walton and sampson, hell even since penny and hill. hard to speculate as to the guy's health but like i said the extension and his current workload are both good signs.
