He got Paul George and Melo in the same offseason with the biggest name coming from his side Victor Oladipo. Who was it that said Presti deserved to be fired? This isn't a complete fleecing but Melo is locked in and if he wants out the Thunder get more assets at that point.

Thank god Koby didn't trade our first round pick and KLove for Melo.

he's 27 and a 4 time all star with a career PPG under 20, zero top 10 MVP finishes, and has never been to the NBA finals.

Now, he's about to spend a portion of his prime as the third fiddle on a contender.

Not saying he's a bum or anything, but he's gotta at least win a title or two to get in.

he's basically Glen Rice right now.

50. "Is Glen Rice in the HOF?"
In response to Reply # 46

I don't think the BBHOF has super lofty standards, but I also don't think that Paul George has done enough to be considered to be on a HOF trajectory.

His player comparison list includes a couple of HOFers and a few that aren't.

Thru 7 Years Win Shares (Best to Worst)
Player Sim 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Paul George 10.8 9.2 9.0 7.1 6.0 2.4 0.0
Alex English 89.8 10.3 9.5 8.3 7.0 5.3 4.0 1.2
Willie Wise 89.3 11.2 10.5 8.9 7.5 6.7 0.7 0.6
Bernard King 88.2 12.1 9.1 8.7 7.5 6.5 5.9 0.0
Rasheed Wallace 87.7 11.0 9.7 9.3 7.6 6.4 5.0 2.3
Glen Rice 87.4 10.2 10.0 8.3 7.9 6.3 4.4 1.4
Chris Webber 87.2 10.7 9.3 8.3 7.8 4.0 3.6 1.9
Red Robbins 87.0 10.7 9.3 7.0 6.9 6.7 3.7 2.3
Gordon Hayward 87.0 10.4 8.9 8.7 5.4 4.9 3.6 1.2
Mark Aguirre 85.4 9.0 8.9 8.8 7.2 6.9 4.7 1.9
David Lee 85.1 10.3 9.0 7.4 6.9 6.0 5.0 2.7

And he's going from being the main player on offense to being the third option, so his scoring numbers may dip.

george has already made more all-star, more all-league, and more all-defensive teams in 6 full seasons than rice made in 15.

like, he's already had a better career than rice, dogg.

In response to Reply # 50

Even if his numbers do dip, how long will this team be together? And I don’t think they’ll dip that much. I bet he puts up around 20-6-3.

He’s no TMac where he could fall off at 30 and still make it because of how great his peak was. He’ll need to keep producing for awhile. So it’s too early to call, but I think he’s on a path to have a solid chance.

It'll be interesting to see how 2-4 shape out out West.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

No double teams.

As long as PG play team ball in a contract year after saying he's going for mvp, but I believe he will.

We will see Olympic style Melo, OKC will be a fun team to watch.

And some bad defense

But also a trade you cannot and shouldn't turn down--especially because of how little you had to give up.

i actually think they'll be one of the better defensive teams in the league.

dre and PG are elite, adams is close to it, and russ is pretty shitty a lot of nights but is good when he engages. plus a lot of the backup big minutes that were going to a shitty defender (kanter) will now be going to better, switchier ones (p-patt and jeremi grant)

2.) Good for Melo. He's on a legit contender.

3.) The Knicks got fleeced. I mean I love Enes Kanter, but it's Carmelo fucking Anthony!

4.) Maybe now the Knicks will actually bottom out and properly rebuild. It needed to be done. No patch jobs. No dumb vet contracts. Just reach their bottom.

This is the money quote, which quite frankly, shocked me concerning Anthony's catch and shoot numbers....Intriguing....

---

"But Anthony has traditionally been a very good rebounder for his position and excels at Ibaka’s other major contribution: floor spacing from a “big” position. Anthony had an effective field goal rate of 58.6 percent on catch-and-shoot jumpers last season, better than known sharpshooters like Kevin Love and in the top half of players with at least 200 attempts. (This is more impressive than it sounds, because the ranks of players who are asked to take 200 spot-up jumpers is a heavily self-selected group).

Anthony will obviously hold the ball more than Ibaka, but he’s also a better ball handler and passer. The who-does-what balance will be crucial, which it doesn’t take deep analysis to see. But at minimum, Melo walking into a spot-up shooting role — the role he played so well for Team USA — will help the Thunder no matter what else he does, simply because he’s a good enough shooter to space the floor. And the Thunder desperately needed spacing..."

Melo still shooting 40% and not grabbing rebounds or shooting the 3 well

Kanter has been the 2nd best knick this season 13 and 10 and playing above average defense

Mcdermott shooting 54 and 42 from field and 3 respectively and is part of the lock down 4th qtr crew.

Im all for guys who are gifted in a certain skillset like defense---

but isnt that what George is supposed to be? An elite 3d +++ guy who can be a primary scorer too? Sure you want to rest George and give him less defensive responsibility, but it just seems like such a bad fit.

Maybe they assume with 3 elite scorers they can have a hole, but they really need to find an elite shooter to space things out for them a bit more, and Unfortunately they dont have that on their roster and their bench sucks.

...spells it out. The parts r not working well in unison....Melo goes 6 - 10 on 3's and they still take the L...

Their BIG three can't seem to get it going at the same time...Russy has a horrible shooting night and Paul goes into NyQuil mode. Sometimes Melo struggles with his shot and Russy goes off...Sometimes it's Paul...

Maybe it's coaching...Lack of rebounding......Maybe Russy needs to take an Alpha Male approach and lead the team in shots....They have time to get it together...But yeah...this is a strange mess....

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Like I said in the daily thread, dude spent 5-6 minutes cutting off his own teammates, throwing useless picks after noticing his mistake and letting his defenders sag off into Salt Lake City. He very well could be a big part of their Top Five defense but he is such a 2005 type player and actively sabotages this offense that’s already got a huge hill to climb getting used to each other.
