""Why is this Pelly so heavy?" - 2017-18 New Orleans Pelicans post"

The best Power Forward in the Game? Check

The best Center in the Game? Check

The best passer of his generation? Check

The best Holiday of the Holidays? Check

Let's play some ball.

The season can't start soon enough.

Sure this team isn't stat nerd/hoops blogger friendly... but it's gonna work.

Do they still need to make another move? Sure. It'll work itself out during the season.

Tony Allen just jumped on board.

Even Darius has come back from Germany to join the party.

This squad as it stands will make the playoffs. And should make the 2nd round.

Alvin needs to get on his job and make it work.

The pick and rolls are gonna be lovely. The lobs are gonna be often. I'm looking forward to see how the defense looks.

Of course health is a major concern, as this team doesn't have depth.

This squad is Tier One League Pass priority for me. And I'm gonna enjoy every last bit of this season.

It should be better than when I got souped about Rondo on the Kings, but George Karl shitted on the season.

Tony Allen is a great pickup for leadership and grit. And I am completely rooting for Gentry to gel it together...just because I think he's doing a bad job doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed. I just want a season of 80% injury uptime or better. The frontcourt depth is too poor for any less than that.

Just out of curiosity, what seed do you see the Pelicans getting in the playoffs and who do you see them upsetting since you have them making the second rounds? That is unless you actually have them being a top four seed in the West.

If you have them being a top four seed in the West, how high a grade is that bluegrass you are smoking, sir?

The only teams that should be better the Warriors and Rockets. After that, it's up in the air. So they're in the mix with the Wolves, Spurs and Thunder.

Dubs, Rox, Spurs, OKC and Minny will be better.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

It's true that there are no snipers back there, especially with Ryan Anderson long gone. But Jrue is an underrated shooter imo, and Crawford can light it up in spurts. If anything, they could use a stretch guy/3 point specialist like Anderson, Morrow, etc. I don't think shooting is terribly lacking at guard.

it's not really a matter of his percentage (which has increased over the last 2 1/2 seasons). he only attempts 1 or 2 a game so the impact of his actual shooting is negligible.

what's more significant is the fact that he has no gravitational pull in terms of drawing a defender out to the line to space the floor and keep the defense honest. teams still continue to ignore him out there and pack the paint, making it harder for their inside guys.

... came the same time as his worst 2P% season, lol. Defenses are saying "cool, shoot the 3. We're good on the rest." Rondo ain't taking those 3s enough to make up for the Pelicans' lack of distance shooting.

up those attempts since he's a big fan of the three ball and all.

That is unless Gentry and Rondo clash for some reason, which is of course possible since Rondo has clash with his head coaches in the past.
