does that count?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

enjoyed the hell outta this game.

brady straight up pulled a jim everett on that second to last sack. i couldn't believe my eyes --- he actually QUIT.

after 13 years, it's nice to see smith has mostly shed the learned helplessness that had made him checkdown charlie.

andy reid wit dat six sigma methodology in keeping the foot on the gas in the middle of the 4th quarter must've had eagle fans frowning in their onions.

Didn't do a fantasy draft this year. Read Drew Magary's Why Your Team Sucks columns, but that's about all the NFL content I've gone out of my way to take in.

I watched a few episodes of The Office on Netflix and then went to bed by 10:30. Unless it's the Giants, I only watch football on weekends. Thursday night games don't do much for me.

coupled with the fact folks are actually throwing shots at Michael Bennett with his recent incident has me hesitant to watch games this year. It probably helps that I don't have a team to root for and I've been less interested in the NFL year by year going back the past three or four years. I routinely fall asleep during the Sunday afternoon games.

In response to Reply # 0

the point of a boycott is to use economic power to send a message.

there are at least 4 different groups i can think of organizing/encouraging nfl boycotts right now, and some of them have totally opposite agendas.

if you're going to boycott the nfl on some pro-black shit, you're in a bubble, because conservative media's been on that for 2 years and your nielsen numbers are just pumping up sean hannity's ego.

if you think football as a sport is fundamentally uninteresting/doomed/too dangerous, then it makes sense to just stop watching football.

but if you're boycotting because of the racism, you're never going to be heard. there are better ways.

>you're in a bubble, because conservative media's been on that
>for 2 years and your nielsen numbers are just pumping up sean
>hannity's ego.

and? that's sounds like their problem. just because a boycott overlaps whatever twisted agenda the racists are spinning doesn't mean it has to be devalued.

>but if you're boycotting because of the racism, you're never
>going to be heard. there are better ways.

so the decision to stop spending any time/money on a business is invalidated because you said so?

a player boycott i definitely would get

>>if you're going to boycott the nfl on some pro-black shit,
>>you're in a bubble, because conservative media's been on
>that
>>for 2 years and your nielsen numbers are just pumping up
>sean
>>hannity's ego.
>
>and? that's sounds like their problem. just because a boycott

>doesn't mean it has to be devalued.

as a boycott, yes, it's already devalued. you can't send the nfl a message by boycotting when the nfl isn't equipped to get the message (this past month should prove that) and when you're outnumbered by people who already are boycotting the nfl for being too tolerant of its players' voices.

i'm not saying there's nothing to be done. but it has to be more creative to stand out. don't watch, cool. want to change the nfl? do something else.

>>but if you're boycotting because of the racism, you're never
>>going to be heard. there are better ways.

well, i didn't say that. and obviously, i didn't say it was "just because i said so."

and NFL owners can't figure out if it's racists or pro-minority groups not watching, the boycott is pointless? that's the NFL's problem, not mine.

>want to change
>the nfl? do something else.

which would be...?

>well, i didn't say that. and obviously, i didn't say it was
>"just because i said so."

in so many words, yeah. "if you're pro-black and boycotting the NFL, you don't understand boycotts, live in a bubble, and should do something entirely else because it's a big waste of time. but oh you can stop watching for other reasons."

bringing more moments like beyonce's show to the stadiums every time some racist unions throw a hissy fit about the flags.

show up. sit in at the gates if you feel like it.

again, i have no problem with people saying "fuck football" and moving on. but no, it's not just the nfl's problem if you want to change it and you think changing the channel alone is going to make a difference. it's going to make the league more racist, even if it dies slowly.

if that's what they become, well, that was their own reaction.

sit-ins and protests? those are cool and worthy, but you choosing to narrow the scope of "boycott effectiveness" is bizarre and condescending. why is it either-or?

some people don't like the way the NFL is run and choose not to watch it unless it changes. if it doesn't change for the better, that's not their fault.

if we disagree about the meaning of a boycott....again, if someone wants to personally stop watching for their own peace of mind, cool. i support that. but there's also social/economic definition of a boycott as a movement, and this doesn't qualify in that regard.

if you're taking offense about the bubble comment. sorry, it's true.

it's in there in truth's post below about the ratings. there's no message to send with this because the same racism that makes the nfl what is makes americans look for reasons to misunderstand and overcompensate in favor of the status quo. shaun king and sean hannity are trumpeting the same stats right now. nfl is going to pay attention to hannity's audience unless we give them a reason to listen to us.

>nfl is going to pay attention to hannity's audience
>unless we give them a reason to listen to us.

why should we give a fuck if the NFL takes decreased viewership and decides to appeal (even more) to the Hannity base? I'm not in charge of the NFL.

your argument is a pro-minority boycott is pointless if the NFL can't figure out the message. the message is simple: fuck the NFL! they can not have my money and figure out the reasons later, if at all.

the economic reason behind that kind of boycott is plain as day. just because it overlaps with another boycott, or opposing reason, doesn't change the fact it takes money out of the NFL's pocket.

beyond my own teams. With that said, I tuned in for at least half of the game and would have stayed up for the 4th if I wasn't so tired and needed to get up early the next day. For having zero fan interest, I thought the game was very entertaining and fun to watch.

Kareem Hunt is the real deal. Watching all these rookie RBs shine while the Eagles continue to push wasted 4th round pick Donnell Pumphrey (aka a poor man's Lorenzo Booker) down our throats is going to be aggravating as shit this year.

gotta see what we look like with odell first.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
