I can't find the reddit post that the editor of this video made, but he apparently was able to restore footage from '63 to match the smoothness of modern video.

It's worth checking out. NOTE: The most clear example of the restoration is available using the HQ (720 60fps) stream.

Guys like the Doc, the Hawk, the Skywalker and the Ice Man were taking the entertainment value of the game to another level. It was getting a bit more sophisticated but it retained a lot of that open style and pace, especially with the ABA and the NBA having to compete with it.

This is a helluva find, nice quality. I saw some of the mid/late-60s finals (including early color broadcasts) and they weren't this smooth.
