So many have failed, others who haven't don't pass the eye test or have ducked testing (which Jones has also done before, while inside the gym at JW's).

how much of an asterisk does this place over his entire career? Also, assuming the test results are accurate, this gives Cormier even more props since he was doing a hell of a great job in the fight before the head kick landed.

say what you want about his point to win style -- but hes been the most dominant fighter of the decade in the ring

If true im interested in understanding (though well probably never really know) why. Its hard to see hes always been PED free, but lets assume he was early on. I mean physically he has two elite athlete bros, so its possible genetically.

He's never really been close to losing a fight outside of Gustaffson, but what kind of deep insecurities is he dealing with that may fuel PED use --despite dominance. There must be a real fear of losing or not performing at a certain level which may fuel PED and other recreational drug use and poor life decisions.

Jon been in trouble the entire USADA era. I can't say he wasn't/isn't badass, but there's no way to say he was ever a clean athlete.

I saw someone reference that his brothers were pro athletes, which is true, but they're both pro athletes who have been busted for PEDs. *edit - chandler jones was busted for synthetic weed, not PEDs*

It sucks, cuz Jon had one of the more epic runs in UFC history. His skill and creativity are still as elite as it gets.

The match against Cormier was ruled a no contest, Jones' belt was striped, and Cormier is now the Light Heavyweight Champion. Assuming he gets a four year suspension, he could theoretically fight in Japan, right?

It would be hilarious if the source of his latest positive test result is because of GAT Supplements since they are one of his few remaining sponsors.

Why?
Dana is close friends with Trump... like
"call each other on the cell" close.
Dana said on Hot 97 "there's something
about when a guy looks like you... and
is the baddest man on the planet that makes
you feel great." When they asked him about
Trumps racism, he straight up dodged the
question.
Never forget, Trump took out ads in NY to
execute the Central Park 5 despite them
being innocent teens. He was also sued
for racism and is surrounded by alt-right
members and David Duke's candidate.
Dana white being close friends with that guy
AND making it clear that he roots for the
white guys (he was on Kimmel comparing McConnor
to Ali) really makes this whole Jones
thing look like a set up. I actually believe
Jon when he says he never took steroids.
He made some bad choices, and that's the thing
they're using to corral belief around this
narrative. He's a Black man who bangs white
women (even has a mixed son), and he's now one
in a long line of Black men who've been targeted
for being great AND sleeping with white women.
Just another story just like John (Jack) Johnson.

I mean he's a white dude from Boston and he has no problem throwing some of his black champions under the bus when they aren't considered draws (sup Tyron Woodley and Demetrious Johnson)...

But there's also no upside of having your dominant LHW you've promoted as maybe the greatest ever getting his title stripped for the third time and having to give it back to a guy he just KO'd in front of millions.

They're desperate to have another PPV draw not named Conor (probably not fighting again this year) or Ronda (probably done) and WME-IMG needs to make money back from the $4 billion they spent on this shit, which is why they were all on the MayMac train when it came close to fruition. Intentionally having the most interesting dude on your roster outside of those two out for maybe up to four years doesn't compute.

Like do I think Dana is probably sympathetic to a lot of the ideals Trump has? Sure. Enough so that he's willing to hurt his (and his bosses) pockets? Nah.

to white supremacists.
That's really important to understand.
Daniel Cormier is 38, so he won't be
champ much longer. Jon is only 30, so
he could have that division on lock for
many years to come. I also said this...

>He's a Black man who bangs white
>women (even has a mixed son), and he's now one
>in a long line of Black men who've been targeted
>for being great AND sleeping with white women.
>Just another story just like John (Jack) Johnson.

If you're underestimating the gravity of that,
please take another look at history (the KKK
and others used that as an excuse to kill
countless Black men and they still do... Dylann
Roof and Elliot Rodgers, for instance).
Daniel is married. His wife is hispanic, and
he ain't out here banging white women on the
side as far as I know.

With Ronda gone and Conor noncommittal, the only other cash cow they had was Jones. His next year was about to make them a fortune - a HW title fight against Stipe Miocic and a blockbuster next Summer against Brock Lesnar. That's the two biggest fights they could've made that didn't involve McGregor. You think they'd deliberately sabotage that? Whew, pass that piff over here then.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

of turinabol

The reason it was not called off entirely is it was residual from the last test and did not provide performance enhancement. Just can't fight in Nevada

Given the overall treatment of this by the UFC (hurry to relocate, hush-hush treatment) I think everyone is sticking to the story within the organization except (obvs) for fighters that hate Jon Jones or that have popped for similar trace amounts in the past before the faultiness of testing have been pointed out, but have still faced the consequences (like Frank Mir)

well, bj is boring (and painful) to watch now. ryan has always been boring to watch. so i go for the latter (worst).

also, i don't understand why bj was taking extra time training in the gi when him and ryan are fighting in mma.

but i do this insane bracket every year of "mythical fighters" over at bloody elbow

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2019/1/27/18199695/2019-mythical-creatures-of-mma-the-sweet-16

its gets pretty over the top now, but it started like "sea-level" cain vs "motivated" bj penn - basically the meme versions of fighters, correcting their fatal flaws.

winners the first 3 years were
Motivated BJ Pen
Man-Sized Demetrious Johnson
Brave Bob Sapp

1) Was the legend Renato Laranja ever an entry to that bracket in year's past?

2) Is Game Plan Mike Perry a reference to him once being a part of Greg Jackson's gym? Pardon my ignorance have asking you to explain the joke. Pretty wild how both him and Cerrone ended up splitting from that camp given that Cerrone pretty much beat Mike Perry with the greatest of ease to borrow the phrase from Smug.

ya its pretty much just that hes a wild ass fighter and might be pretty damn tough to beat if he used an actual gameplan.
there seems to be a lot of turmoil at jackson's these days. I think a large part of that is that Jackson stepped away for a time, i think to deal with some personal stuff.
altho, i say that, and when i think about it there has ALWAYS been drama over there i guess, going all the way back to jones and rashad

When I get home later on tonight, I'll post up Youtube links so you can get properly introduced to the genius that is Renato Laranja. I'm almost jealous you have no knowledge of this cat at all since you get to view him with fresh eyes.

made up by one of Eddie Bravo's students who in real life became a 10th Planet black belt roughly 4 or so years ago. The character is a spoof on Brazilians that think Eddie Bravo's no-gi training is fake ju-jitsu. He's also a 27 time Mundials Champion and is known within the ju jitsu and MMA community for jokingly playing up his 27 World Time skills in comparison to their skill sets. Here are some Youtube videos that display the type of humor the character is known for:
