I know they won't move on from him but will you?

I always thought he was overhyped and since I live in Charlotte I heard this dude being called to Elway, Manning, Montana but IMO he hasn't looked so hot.

If he has another sub par year is it over?

Superbowl or bust. he's only a year younger than Luck and still looking for his first playoff victory. right now Carr has established himself as the new best checkdown king in the NFL.

Carr averages 6.46 YPA for his career. no other QB who qualified in the top-20 for passer rating last season has a *career* number under 7 YPA.

Carr is the dink-and-dunk master.

He's only been in the league for 3 years. Meanwhile, GOAT reincarnated had 3 more TD's last year and 7 more int than the so called king of dink and dunk. I'll take the younger progressing player over the overhyped, haven't proved shit guy yet.

"improving" and "progressing" don't mean shit anymore (Luck hasn't proved anything? says a fourth-year player still looking for his first playoff win).

he's the highest paid player in the NFL. Carr should be taking the Raiders to the playoffs every season, and win Superbowls (plural) --
that's the new standard.

being the highest paid PLAYER in the NFL absolutely puts you in the "elite" category whether you want it or not. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson have Superbowl rings and *still* get roasted if they don't win the last game. but Carr's standard is what? making "progress"? "young and up-and-coming?"

nah, he doesn't get that pass anymore. he starts collecting team trophies or he'll get burnt too. that's how this works.

He does often check down quickly or throw it away to avoid sacks. He was the least-sacked QB in the league last year. Naturally depresses the completion % and YPA. He is not that much of a run around and improvise QB.

Not saying you're the one copping them, but the narrative has already started amongst the talking heads. This fool has thrown double digit interceptions every year he's been in the league except once. He has only 5 more TD's yet 23 more Int than Russ, but he's supposed to be the next QB God. Good Luck with that.

You just made the case he's a "QB god". Luck's previous season certainly wasn't bad either with the TD/Int ratio, just not as nice as Russell or Brady's.
Still puts him in "pretty damn nice" category. His shoulder sucking is a legitimate gripe that could affect him this season.

The only thing worrying about Andrew Luck is if his shoulder injury is a real concern that is being hushed up by the powers that be.

like you i think he looks the part and occasionally plays it. mostly his teams have sucked.

I don't get the skepticism here exactly, he's made the playoff three times and gone 3-3 including a trip to the AFC title game. I wouldn't say he has been lights out in the playoffs but they made him really fire it often every time. He had a pretty even spread of great, mediocre and shitty games out of those six.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Will, Spread, Calm or any of the other few of us feel free to disagree...

The problem isn't Luck it's the supporting cast. Gregg Doyle is a tool blowhard but he had a good article yesterday highlighting the shitshow that our new GM inherited from his predecessor, probably the worst GM the league has seen in the past decade

"What he inherited was a team that could neither protect its quarterback (44 sacks allowed last season, 28th in the NFL) nor get after its opponents' (31st in the league with 68 combined sacks in 2015 and ’16). He inherited a team that couldn’t run (4.0 yards per carry last season, tied for 23rd) or stop opposing teams from running (allowed 4.7 yards per carry, 30th)."

That says nothing about an o line that can't stop a nosebleed. By the numbers, Luck had a solid season last year.

If we're expecting him to turn chicken shit into chicken salad, sure he isn't living up to the hype, but I'm not ready to send him off yet, or say that he hasn't been what we thought he was

he had the most cap space in the NFL after Luck's rookie year, and used it on expensive washed veterans. no talent development or youth at all. Grigson got high on winning the league's worst division and started doing things like locking Trent Cole in the building and signing him for $7 million a year.

all that said, Luck doesn't get any excuses because that's how this thing works. nobody cares when you are the chosen one. his biggest challenge right now is staying on the field (which is a talent on its own) -- his insistence on holding the ball has led to gorgeous completions that maybe two other quarterbacks in the NFL can make, as well as tons of unnecessary hits.

Luck still does it because he can often break out of sacks and hates to give up on plays. which is where the glorious moments come. and also the interceptions and injuries.

Nope. Luck's status is clear as mud to me. I wanna love him but I see why he could have some hate on him.

He's gonna keep on getting love and opportunities unless he completely stinks up the joint for multiple games. And even then, he'd have folks battling for him in online, on-air and barber shop/water cooler/at-the-bar trenches.

'The truth' on Luck probably includes all of the narratives on him: bad team, he's been being hurt for years, and he's probably not the unimpeachable great that folks had him out to be when he got drafted.

He presses often and throws some 'right after you hit the button, you know it's a pick on Madden'-style interceptions. He's hasn't gone full Cutler yet tho. And he's probably not as bad as worst days Eli. But he's right down the street from that when he can't help himself.

I think he'll stay in the middle enough that most folks will stick to their guns on what they think of him.

I'd love to see him with a forreal good running game, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

everyone who is talked about as a great QB has a great situation. bad situations bring out bad habits, and i refer to what will said. without his style of playing, do the Colts make those playoff games?

same question i ask about Stafford. whats Tom Brady in a Lions uniform? whats Rodgers in a Colts uniform? whats Wilson in a Jaguars uniform?

imo the fuckin franchise is at a make or break point with him. id play out my contract and bounce.

WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE

Because in the last month I've probably said the phrase "Kirk Cousins is the quarterback the Redskins deserve"

He does just enough to make you forget he's middle-of-the road. Just like the franchise.

And one of his weak ones was his rookie year. I can't pretend like I watch him.....I watch my Giants and then some of the Sunday night and Monday games if they don't involve the Giants. But the numbers are nothing to sneeze at.
