****Payments Update****
Delinquent:
-The Champ ($76)

You have until 11:59pm EST on February 28th to get me the fee without further penalty.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we head down the stretch here, things have waned a bit as they typically do later in the season when reality sets in but to that I say; with 8 games left and 4 games yet to start, there are really only 2 teams that don't still have a shot at the postseason. Everyone else is still in it!
With that said, this probably the most competitive year we've had. I legit feel like the field is wiiiiiiiiide open. Sure there's a favorite or two but with the way the league has gone, I don't trust those teams more than any others over a 5 game span. The perfect word to describe this season is...streaky.
So, let's be less like church mouses and more like raving, scathing, lunatic, fantasy owners...i.e. LABeat when he's winning, or present, or alive.
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE!!!!!
Pre-Playoff Rankings:
1. Tribeca HiBrows (Ern)(1)(33-16, 298.6) - Should be telling Ryan, Boogs and Frank how they don't stand a chance against his team and teasing me because he's poised to do what I couldn't last year, which is win title #3.
2. Earthquake State Degenerate Gamblers (Ryan)(2)(32-17, 289.3) - Should be bragging about winning another Walton crown (2nd in 3 yrs) and how LABeat winning it all was on loaner.
3. Stanley Forms a Wall (Boogs)(3)(32-17, 292.8) - Should be saying "THIS IS THE YEAR YOU FOOLS!" and "Winning might be cool but I've made the most CASH B*TCHES!"
4. Duval County Plumlords (Frank)(4)(30-19, 296.9) - Should be bragging that we're so dumb, we let him employ the same strategy every year with repeatable successful results and that this year it will result in his 2nd title.
5. Theodelphia Theventy-Thixers (Theo)(7)(29-20, 284.4) - Should be teasing me for counting him out this year, bragging about how he's bounced back and threatening Ryan about the Walton Lead. Also should be talking about how he desperately wants to join the 2 titles club.
6. ex. Detroit ex. Pistons (Ceej)(5)(29-20, 280.4) - Should be elated that he's relevant this late in the season for a change. Should be bragging about stealing the Elevator away from Cenario and should also be warning everyone that his team increased it's average 9 points since the last rankings. Beware the CEEJ!!!
7. Restown Smerf City Slamz (Smerf)(9T)(27-22, 280.2) - Should be bragging about how he's improved since last rankings and is on a 7-3 run and vowing to punish all who nicknamed him Smerf.
8. Oakland Cardpullers (Mr.Hood)(8)(26-23, 276.7) - Should be laughing at how guys who've been here for years are doing worse than him and bragging that he didn't even change his lineup and will make the playoffs. Should be calling all of us scrubs because he has a shot to win as a rookie. EASY WORK!!!
9. Coney Island Bad Boys VII: Rejuvenated (Dep. Commish)(6)(26-23, 281.9) - Should be snickering to himself as his recent slump has provided us all with a false sense of security. And should be forewarning...I HAVE RUSSY! Don't EVER discount me!
10. Cerritos Bad Hombres (Shawn)(11)(21-28, 279.9) - Should be screaming that he started out as one of the worst teams and rocketed into the playoff picture past 3-4 other teams. Should be gloating that he was able to do it with a 1.36 FPPM G and that it would be much more worse on us if Lin was healthy. CHINESE CONNECTION!!! Should also be posting multiple Money Dance gifs because he's currently winning his side bet with me. Oh and calling someone a b*tch along the way.
Bet #1: Winning 279.9 to 279 (do not slip! lol)
Bet #2: Winning (2 up, 2 down)
1-Ibaka is gonna be at 1.23 or better (1.13 currently)
2-Lin is gonna be at 1.18 FPPM or better (1.36 currently, smh...injury saving your a**)
3-Parker is gonna jump .15 fppm to 1.06 FPPM (1.12 currently)
4-AND Jamal Murray is gonna be over 1.00 FPPM (0.84 currently)
11. Chi.ESL Commissioners (The Commish)(13)(20-29, 279) - Don't look now but my team woke up from it's mid season slumber. Just in time to smack boogs around and put LABeat and Soulhonkey in their places...the cellar. I am officially the team no one wants to see in the first round. And Shawn...GAININ' ON YA!!!!
12. Northeast DC Trade Guerillas (Magilla)(9T)(25-24, 270.7) - Should be claiming that this is his year because he's relevant and that's a sign from GOD and CP3 will return in time for him to whooride.
13. L.A. Major Keys (RBO)(15)(18-31, 276) - Should be saying that if it were 10 additional games left, he could have gotten a 3 seed minimum.
14. Houston Hardhead Kickdoe CHAMPS (The Champ)(14)(17-32, 269.6) - Should have TRIED this season instead of getting fat and happy off one flukey title. And c'mon fam...you just NOT gonna pay the fee?
15. Skid Row SoulHonky (SoulHonky)(12)(16-33, 258.7) - Should be saying he had a chance at it all until his recent slump but he can play spoiler and will.
16. Philadelphia Peasants (TJT)(16)(11-38, 238.8) - I got nothing.
I've never drafted a center before Round... 4? Maybe 3, once? This year, my first round pick!
Of course, outside of the first pick, I followed my usual drafting routine, haha. But only because I thought the pieces were available to build a nice squad with that approach. After drafting a center, I was prepared to punt my usual approach and just wing it. Which was terrifying.
Man that streak with kawhi, Tyler, pau, Parker and a bunch of other guys out hurt.
Not the losses but caused a bunch of empty minutes and low 200 scores.
The points bet shoulda been rock solid
Somehow out of all this my next game is my highest scoring or one of my highest scoring of the season.
You're going to end up owing me $40. I'm going to win the big bet. You'll win the small one because Lin got hurt and Jabari actually did get better.
I had another good game lined up, then kawhi sits out last night.
Now the game depends on the up and down bucks.
We have a matchup coming up that could decide it.
Any low sub 250 scores for either of us might be the nail in the coffin.
is the injury will win met the 2 up 2 down bet.
But it may also cost me the points bet.
We're both struggling thru games right now.
We're also jockeying for playing Theo vs Cenario first round.
They both have pros and cons, though i think id prefer to be in Ceej's bracket over Ryans as long as i can avoid it to get my team healthy.
You were probably gonna win this anyway because Lin didn't get a chance to regress to the mean. Jabari had turned a corner.
>But it may also cost me the points bet.
Injuries on my part might have given this to you but now it's kinda even. Dion, D-Rose, Duck Sauce sitting games hurt. And I've had to deal with a few DNP's from Love and Gasol not so long ago.
You having to eat Jabari for a few games might send it down to the last 2 games of the year.
LMAO if we end in a tie. We didn't come up with tie breakers either. How about whoever has the highest playoff average until one team is eliminated (meaning it doesn't stop until one of us is eliminated...points end at the elimination game, even if the other team plays another game or advances)?
First round, I'd rather play Cenario if his team keeps playing the way it has. Second round is a toss up though Ryan's team is a lil more dangerous. There's really no clear advantage to either bracket IMO. Just gotta hope for health and win the games.
Man what are the odds we end in a tie? That would be miraculous.
Should we do it til the elimination game or the elimination series? Meaning if you lose in 3 games and my games go to 5 we just look at end of series? LOL not sure why im even negotiating this. It doesnt really matter. Im cool with whatever there.
Im interested to see what the AS break yields. Does Russy come back with a vengeance?
Theos team has some real dangerous pieces but his guards outside of Giannis...
This Jabari injury could boost Giannis back up to trhat 170 avg range tho. Yea actually fuck that Id rather play cenario than theo (knock on wood)
Cenario is dealing with injured guys like Noah and Faried now.
The word is Pau might/could be back before all star break and same with Lin.
My amateur guess is that they end up cpming back right after the all star break, and that would be a major boost.
But who knows how long that will last.
lot of interesting seeding races coming down to the final days too:
Ern vs Boogs - for best overall record. Seeing as best record is a $ achievement now, Boogs has to hope to finish a game up as that 4 point FPPG margin might be too hard to overcome in just 5 games.
Ern vs Frank - for best team avg...also a $ achievement. Ern could end up with both $ earners or lose them both in the last 5 games of the season.
Smerf vs Mr. Hood - for home court advantage in the first round. That extra 5 points might make a difference given a 2.7 fppg difference between the two teams.
Ryan vs Theo vs Ceej - All vying for the top spot in the White conference. With Ryan's team kinda slumping, he's opened the door to lose the Walton and the #1 seed.
Shawn vs The Commish - Bet is looking solidly in his favor, especially after winning the most recent head-to-head. Not only that but seeding plays into it as well. But with 5 games left, a lot can change.
Lol immediately after beating you by 50. (Which I was hoping would start nailing the coffin)
You bounceback with like a 50 pt margin the next game.
Serge is slumping. Reggie may get benched (which wouldnt be bad if he plays less minutes)
On the Plus side Love is ruled out for Tuesday and hopefully more. That would really hurt you
He could go to Tor and fall teh way of Sully.
Lowry and Derozan shoot so much and also board well for guards.
This might not be good...
Shawn, you'll get your payout at the end of the season with everyone else.
I still cant shake you.
I just looked ahead and I have a handful of <250 games going through the final game. So do you...but you may have one game where you score 300+, thus outscoring me by about 70-80.
That would still make it a longshot but could come down to final game, where most of the action happens game 1 post break.
If you can outscore me by 80-100 again there that might tip it.
Without Love, it's gonna be harder to get those 300+ scores. Barnes is doing work and will help me compete but Barnes + Love would have set me up right for a late season run and a playoff run.
Cousins team isnt really a playoff contender, neither is WCS or other guys that may benefit.
Maybe Collison? Frazier gets some more minutes but how will the offense change with the two bigs
Which sux for me because he was putting up 1.20 in his last 10 since Gay went down. I needed those 36FPPG to soften the blow from losing Love.
I mean, I felt I was done but had an outside chance at an upset or two. But now, it's a wrap. Cenario is prolly going to eliminate my team in 3 games now.
Its an interesting dilemma which I dont mind.
Id rather play Cenario slightly more than Theo. I hope Jokic stays hot instead of red hot (no jinx)
But in round 2 id rather play Ceej more than Ryan.
Pick your poison
Our division all teams can come out.
On the other side its 3 strong teams
Up 72 on the year and should gain at least another 20 in Game 56. Would just need to not be outscored by 100 in the last 2.
The Big Dogs
1) Ernie - Strong run to finish the season. AD has gotten better with Cuz and Ernie mightve found a huge boost in Big Sauce (jinx jinx jinx) and Wiggins has been hot.
Concerns: no Embiid (though could be back in next 5), no Tjones
2) Boogs - Had Boogs ranked 1 til last second. Has a strong case with no real injury concerns and a strong team top to bottom.
Concerns: that C play is solid but not spectacular, but hard to poke holes here if Lebron is healthy.
3) Longo - Also has a strong case for #1. Strong team all around. Everyone is currently clicking. Guys like RHJ and Nance playing well. The main issue is Lowry's injury, but with TJ playing well, he covers for Lowry.
Concerns: when will Lowry be back? Will he be in and out of lineup
The Contenders
4) Ryan - might be the favorite out of White Conference teams. KAT is currently on fire and his guard play is strong. Will need Al Jeff back (but he should be back soon) and F's to step up.
Concern: Big Al, Cody (injury) and more solid F play after KAT
5) Theo - Jokic and Giannis. Between the two of them they can put up almost 200. Rondo has been getting tick and performing again. He's got a solid Capela, but after that a lot of holes. If he gets one more guy to be consistent, he's gonna be tough. Hopefully its not Deron Fatter on Cle.
Concerns: lots of gaps in roster after big stars.
6) Shawn - Have a strong roster top to bottom but several guys who are less consistent and don't have the 1 big time player that can single-handedly change a game. With that said, Lin and Pau are back and provide a big boost.
Concerns: The fall of Mike Speights. If speights finds his 1.3-1.4 form again before Im eliminated I like my chances vs mostly anyone.
7) Ceej - Deandre, Dray, Oquinn, Gordon, Goran --thats as strong as a 5 man unit as you get, but will need guys like Morris, Deng, and Dipo to overachieve to take the crown
Concerns: overall depth after the top %
8) AB - Not quite a lame duck yet (without Love) as Steph and Dion continue to be hot. Really needs Millsap and Ersan to get going.
9) Cenario - Wessy Wessy Wessy
Concerns nly wessy, only wessy, only wessy
The rest
10) Restown - close to a contender because of Cuz, Bledsoe but ultimately right outside that group because of lack of guard depth after EB
11)Hood - 7 players under 1 FPPM on Roster.
12) Magilla - #1 draft pick Cp3 riding pine into the playoffs
If I can squeeze some extra minutes out of him, it'll free up Nerlens, KAT, etc to get some F minutes.
Figured the Embiid thing would happen at some point, but Dwight is basically the same in a few more minutes. If Big Sauce stays in the rotation, I should be set there. T Jones landing spot will make a big difference, assuming he lands at all. Whats up with that? Might be moving Wiggy to third guard over AB, nice to have a week to think on it.
That squad is so dam solid. All big minute guys, James Johnson and MKG ballin. Wade's been unreal.
Bigger question is, who covers for TJ? Lowry probably leads the league in minutes. Dinwiddie might work tho.
Huge potential but huge risk with that bittorent frontline (c) Bags. Surprised he held on to TRob and even Henson thru the DNPs. Could work out, or he could waste 20 minutes a game.
Pretty much. That is a scary 1-2.
Dam, you got all the guys I woulda/wanted to snag at some point. Big Willy, Skal, Big Homie. Been pretty handcuffed with the roster this year, obviously not a bad thing I guess. Looks like you'll have my Ibaka headaches from last year too.
He's good for 360 or 240, depending on which Draymond/KOQ game he gets.
AB got a rookie ass roster/lineup. Cmon.
Cheat code.
He's got my attention. Solid play in the middle and Cuz and Bledsoe can carry him to 300.
Man I forgot you held onto Big Sauce since right before the All star break.
Despite my movement which leads the league by far ive been much more patient with wire stuff.
Still mightve lost a couple decent guys I gave up on too soon, but thats the nature of the beast. You cant have everyone.
yea im not sure where to play Ibaka right now. If my guards were more consistent Id just have Kawhi Play F but now I need him as a G cause I dont know what ill get from Reggie, Tyler, and Lin
since hes not just out and could come back.
If you make it thru the gauntlet you could have him for finals...wouldnt that be great?
But again, you have strong guards
Mcconnell and Teague still rival most people's top 1-2 Gs and play enough minutes to cover most the bases. Not ideal, but not Nightmare.
Nightmare would be losing Drummond or Monroe
Here is the URL to figure out whats going off in early playoff games since it sometimes takes them forever to roll into playoff mode
http://basketball.sports.ws/game/170385/58/8/6
You have to change the last 3 numbers
58 is the game numer for last game so if you want to see game one of playoffs change that to 59, game 2 60, etc.
8 is the team # In this case team 8 is TJT who is out but was my last opponent.
6 is my team # so if you want to see how you match up against me leave the 6.
5 is Cenario
2 is Boogs
15 is Longo
9 Restown
7 Magilla
14 is Ernie
15 is Hood
12 Ryan
10 Theo
3 Auaragin
11 Ceej
Game 1: 30 minutes orphaned due to Lowry. Between that and Aminu dropping a 6.5 in 25 mins, gonna drop a sub-250. Roasted.
Game 2: gonna be very, very close. Currently projected to lose.
Game 3: fucking Julius Randle drops near a goddamn 90. Magilla projected to do 370.
*pounds head into table repeatedly*
I'm beyond disgusted.
I'm equally disgusted by whoever warned Magilla and told him to update his lineup. I see you. I don't know who you are, but I see you.
In response to Reply # 119
I still should have dropped Chasson like two weeks ago. But I would have had CP3 back whether the fuck Shawn thought he was inflating his contribution to this league or not.
Also, Randle's been capable of that all year. With a fully healthy CP3, no way I rattle off that 11 game losing streak.
You're just losing to the better team, dog. It's ok.
-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
something unforseen.
If i'm using all my minutes, its anyone's series. Getting definitive information on Faried/Noah has been huge. If i didn't get anything definitive, I probably woulda let at least one of them stay in the linuep.
game 3 will be close.
Im down, but with more minutes left
Ive had no strong performances but a lot of my better guys left.
If Nurk can have another game like last night, itll be a dogfight if I cant produce a 1.5+ game myself
Nurkic's game 3 is vs the Nets
Though Brook has a habit of getting tough opposing bigs in Foul trouble sometimes
