Shock defeat by Djokovic last night to Istomin, feels a bit like when Rosol got Nadal at Wimbledon. Could Rafa do something here? I always feel like he should just skip the tournament and focus on the clay season since he seems to get injured every time, which messes up his year. More likely this opens things up for Murray to start off his year with a bang, and build on his #1 ranking. Could Stan or Nishikori step up?
On the women's side all I hope is that we're getting a Serena v Kerber final

>Maybe Raonic breaks through?
he's a really good player but he seems so bland (although that's probably more that he's just affable, aka Canadian) that I never really get into his matches. Perhaps this will be the year

Hopefully Dimitrov only gets better from here, he played amazing tonight. Raonic seems to have regressed from last year, hope he finds his form as well.
But wow, Venus/Serena + Federer/Nadal. Just gonna enjoy it.

There's always been a breaking point against Rafa where he snowballs mentally after a bad stretch...and today there were chances for that to happen but he continued to fight and be consistent, especially on his backhand. Made every service game tough for Rafa in that 5th set.
8 years later and it's all come full circle. Hats off to both players.

* Istomin with the upset of the tournament, definitely agree that it's the biggest one in Djokovic's career * Mischa Zverev playing like prime Pat Rafter to take out Murray * Nadal vs. Dimitrov was an Aussie Open night classic * Venus' run to the final * Serena's 23rd major * Fed overcoming all odds to reach the final with wins over Berdych, Nishikori & Wawrinka, then somehow captures his most unlikely major over his biggest rival in 5 sets. I didn't think he had it in him when he was down a break in the 5th. I think his mental game has improved a lot in the last few years, like coming back from match points down against Monfils and Cilic in majors. He's definitely got more grit now compared to his golden years. I'm sure those losses to Djokovic helped toughen him up as well. * Kudos to Nadal, his fighting spirit is so inspiring, I hope he has a good year ahead
