I watched this game beginning to end.

90% of it was Harden being brilliant, and other guys
knocking down shots.

Explain the D'antoni strategic imprint. I'm honestly

i know factually you saw zero Suns games from the years they were *first place every regular season basically* for like 4 consecutive years with consistently the NBAs best scoring offense. he won Coach of the Year in 04, and Nash won the MVP, with 3 all star players.

do you think Harden always had 40+point triple doubles but his previous coaches hindered that?

why does anything need to be explained? the evidence is in the body of work.

So D'antoni made James Harden great?

I fucking LOVE this.

>i know factually you saw zero Suns games from the years they
>were *first place every regular season basically* for like 4
>consecutive years with consistently the NBAs best scoring
>offense. he won Coach of the Year in 04, and Nash won the MVP,
>with 3 all star players.

Mike Brown won coach of the year with the MVP and nobody
of relevance outside of Lebron. And Brown was a better
coach with the Lakers than D'Antoni was. But I'm sure there's
a perfectly good way to explain this in a way that makes
D'Antoni look good, and Mike Brown look bad.

>do you think Harden always had 40+point triple doubles but his
>previous coaches hindered that?

Harden has been a megastar for several years. He was MVP
runner-up, and in fact, won the player vote two years ago.

So what we're seeing this year isn't a quantum leap. It's
a playmaking blip upwards for a megastar entering his prime.

>why does anything need to be explained? the evidence is in the
>body of work.

Right -- Harden's body of work. He's been a megastar for years.

>it's
>a playmaking blip upwards for a megastar entering his prime.

Going from 9.4 and 9.6 assists per 100 possessions in the last two seasons to 15.5 per 100 this season is indisputably more than a blip.

Now, if you want to attribute that to Harden simply and suddenly getting better this season and not attribute any of it to the new coach, that's totally your right. I haven't watched enough of the Rockets this season to comment either way. So I'm staying out of the "who do we give credit to" debate that can ensue. Y'all can have your fun with that.

Just pointing out that his playmaking has seen over a 60% increase in assists this season from the last two season. And 60%+ is... a lot. Without looking at most players' numbers over the last couple of decades, I'd imagine most players rarely rarely rarely see their assists per possession leap like that. So it's way more than a blip. It's a megastar reaching whole new levels of mega.

Now, y'all can go back to the debate over who gets credit for that leap.

In response to Reply # 30

Maybe not quite as big as Harden's, but Russy was always
the point guard, unlike Harden. This is Harden's first
season running the offense.

So other than D'Antoni giving Harden the ball more,
why do we need to invoke "genius coach?"

What's the argument?

I dont think anything is wrong with that.

You coach and play sports to your strengths aka the styles make fights argument in combat sports.

The truly transcendent ones seem to be able to do it under any situation. But there are some really good Hall of Fame coaches and players who did it well in their system/style only.

Wonder if that means he won't opt out of his contract next year.

Bummer for the Kings, who were somehow still in the hunt for the 8th spot. Matt Barnes will be starting for them; maybe they'll deal Cauley-Stein for a spot starter or guy off the bench.

Out at least two weeks before reevaluation.

Dude is really important to our second unit. The combo of West, Livingston, Iggy, Klay, and KD (or sometimes Draymond) works really well at there. And West's ability as a high-post passer is really integral to it.

In the best case scenario, they bring in Looney or McGee or Varejao instead and he really steps up (a la Speights last year when Ezeli was hurt), but as much as I like all three of them, they have different skill-sets than West.

As long as he's good come play-off time, we'll be cool.
