Pitts D sucks ass but the offense is deadly when it's on. Not sure if the OC is still there for the bowl game tho and their QB just got lit up.

It's embarrassing how bad Pittts D is tho... and PITT football AND basketball knows how to turn one player on the other team into a gotdamn unstoppable superstar in bowl games or march madness. I have been watching Pitt for 30 years and it's been torture since they beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl back in the day.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

This Pitt team didn't. A pitt team with a different QB, 2 more RBs and an O lineman beat those team.

Sucks to have your starters get destroyed by injuries in a bowl game, but that's the breaks.

People giving shit to Connor about not being dedicated enough to return like he isn't the most dedicated player in the country.

because of the scholarship reductions, the drop off from starter to backup at some positions is as abrupt as any program in the nation, linebacker chief among them. i'm not a film guy and almost never notice how certain position groups are performing in a given game. within three plays i noticed our LBs.

They can NEVER adjust. Look really lethal in the first half, even sometimes against Alabama, and then the other coaches find out what Arkansas is doing well and shut it down and the Hogs are left for dead at that point.

The combo of this meltdown and Mike Patrick calling it is making me mad, man.

yeah I know you're a UCLA guy, i've been an Arky guy since i was a toddler but went to ASU so i've had to begrudgingly root for the Devils too. they are even worse. im not surprised tho, the distractions in Tempe for these kids is ridiculous. by distractions see: white girls & potent chronic. i dont blame them.

but Arkansas on the other hand. just incomprehensible how so many years has produced such backbreaking second half disappointments.

now these teams are getting embarrassed out of conference and u don't wanna talk about it, LOL.

colorado was a TOP 10 team...that's a big deal. they're looking like a JV squad out there vs a vaunted big 12 defense. not to mention colorado only lost by 4 at world's most talented team SC.

>looking forward to the Rose Bowl. that should tell a lot
>about both the Pac12 and B1G.

and lol @ this nonsense

B1G has 4 teams in NY6 bowls and has fared really well in these early bowl games.

not sure how a PSU team missing 2 starters is now the flab bearer of the whole conference.

>now these teams are getting embarrassed out of conference and

I'm talking about it, I've said all year USC and Washington are the onlyELITE TEAMS in the conference, these other teams just aren't very good. And you are the king of putting an entire teams seasons success on a single bowl game a month after their last conference game. Colorado lost their DC before this game. I prefer to look at the entire body of work than the bowl game as the end all judgment of a teams worthiness.

>colorado was a TOP 10 team...that's a big deal. they're

they got destroyed by the second best Big12 team. Colorado isn't even the 3rd best Pac-12 team, and that was before they lost their best coach on the sideline.

Lol at these preemptive plea cops, trumpet blaring the fact there are other big teams in New Years bowls. But Colorado gets no excuses tho? Mmmkay. Sounds fair.

If you're going to shit on Colorado for getting worked by a BETTER TEAM... I'm looking forward to doing the same with USC against PSU. That's not nonsense. It's doing what you're doing.

and not just for 2 teams...the whole damn conference. backpedal as you wish, I'm not gonna engage in your web of illogical lunacy.

and im not copping any preemptive pleas for PSU...i don't care what happens to them. simply stating that they're not the flag bearer for the conference. again that's just your illogical lunacy to state that PSU's performance is the only relevant metric for evaluating the big 10, lol.

I like debating cfb with you. There's a place for serious discussion and for bullshit trolling and I don't do a good job of separating it.

Michigan getting worked by FSU is nice isn't it?!

But back to the point. You hated on USC hard all year so when they win by 21 it'll be nice to point out the time you said they were trash. That's okay right?

Myles Garrett vs. Derek Barnett

vs ranked opponents:
Barnett - 13 sacks
Garrett - 9 sacks

vs SEC opponents
Barnett - 29 sacks
Garrett - 12 sacks

Barnett played four more total games but 12.5 of Garrett's career 31 sacks came against Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Nevada and UTSA.

accomplished or good. What has Peppers actually done in his career to deserve such praise from announcers and CFB "analyst"?

What position does he even play in the NFL? Nickel back? That would be appropriate as his CFB career mirrors that of Nickelback, overhyped and insignificant.

Lastly, is he even really injured or is he pulling a McCaffrey/Fournette in that he doesn't want to potentially get injured and the announcers know this but won't admit it *wink* *wink*.

im watching a late night utah game last year vs some other other PAC squad...it's like 2am.

griese was discussing devontae booker...and then starts going off on how much better booker is than zeke elliot and how he would draft booker over zeke.

I'm like...wtf does zeke/OSU have to do with this random ass game?

i dig the playoff system and wouldn't trade it for the past setup but I also kinda miss when we had 1 BCS game each night in primetime.

LSU/ville is a legit matchup it shouldn't be a castaway game.

which sucked, but at least 1pm is a reasonable time slot.

and back then we'd at least get some good primetime matchups on a nightly basis

With GT at 3rd and 10 on UK's 45, Justin Thomas hits an 11 yard out down in bounds and the ref blows the whistle to stop the clock at 1 second.

Stoops challenges the first down, gives us a free timeout, and we kick a 52 harder as the half expires. Not only that, it didn't matter because of the penalty timeout but the officials actually gave us back, 2 seconds off of the replay.

I hope Paul Johnson slaps him in the face after the game.

Paul Johnson's 4th 9 win season, after 4 total since 1986

They are a top 25 team for sure

16 starters coming back next year including the entire offensive skill position group. QB will be new but it could be a fun year.

Of course most QBs aren't going to be effective when facing pressure but Browning capitulates so quickly.

More in post 145. That being said, that comment wasn't only based on that play....not sure how much of Browning you saw this year but he was on the lower end of the spectrum when it came to resilience under pressure.

The outside man drops into the flat, the RT can't process it and freezes instead of swiveling and picking up the interior blitz.

All season teams have tried 5 yard outs, 8 yard hooks on Bama.

Throw the damn ball 15 yards downfield and force them to back off.

You arent going to beat Bama going underneath or wide... thats feast time.

Does Bama have a TE?

You have to attack this D vertically or its game over.

Im not a fan of Browning, dude is shook under pressure. He started out alright but these 5 yard passes aint scaring Bama.

I'm actually fairly impressed by Washington in this game, their defense has balled out and they've had all the bounces go against their way. If it wasn't for that pick 6 but I have zero confidence they dudes could go 80 yards for a score twice.

I still give Washington a ton of credit for keeping this game about 2 big plays away cause they honestly should be losing by more.

It's not so much that their best players are better than your best players, it's that they have more good players everywhere and they basically don't run out. They lost Ragland and A'Shawn and Jarran Reed to the NFL and their front 7 looks even better... that sets 98% of programs back for at least a year.

I give Washington a ton of credit this game cause I thought they'd lose like 40-7 and they were really one big play and like one bad break from keeping this a one score game for most of it.

UW Football had a fantastic year. It's too bad that the offense couldn't do much, but some people say that Bama team is the best CFB team ever, and of the four main units, Bama's DEF is definitely the best. We could have helped our cause more by not turning the ball over and getting a couple TOs we could have got, but honestly, the better team won. I just hope we can stay near the top of the rankings and get back soon.

Bama is a hell of a team. I thought we'd have a real chance w/ our WRs vs. Bama's secondary w/ some of their starters out, but even those backups are 5 star guys, and they schemed us real well with their coverages. i think on top of Bama just being better across the board, Saban and his staff outcoached Peterson and his somewhat, and since we didn't adapt our scheme, Browning looked much worse than he actually is.

It looks like Clemson is gonna get another shot, but I don't think they can beat Bama either. It would be quite the feat if they did.

I don't know what schematic adjustment you make when your OL are that overmatched. Browning had no chance on 95% of those snaps.

Bama's D honest (he's not a running QB but he can run and there were opportunities).

also, we held our TE in a lot of downs to help block instead of releasing the TE for quick gains to relieve pressure.

i mean, i do agree it's hard and browning didn't have a lot of options, but i think those two things could have helped.

that said, i think we still lose but we probably lose by 7 or 10. a moral victory i suppose.

I wish you guys went vertical more often like on the first drive. Bama's weak spot is the secondary.

In order to beat Bama the QB has to be cool under pressure, extend plays and throw downfield. This is why Clemson has a shot. You cant play smashmouth, dink and dunk with Bama and win in a slug fest.

vertical passing game.

that's actually where i thought we might be able to expose them, but what Bama did was determine that they could stop our running game w/out extra help so they played 2-high safeties all game. they were right.

what we needed to do then was press the middle of the field w/ TEs, QB runs and crossing patterns where defenders can get pick'd.

we should have also played Lavon Coleman at RB more instead of Gaskins. Coleman is downhill runner. Gaskins not so much. Gaskins was trying to happy feet it all night and then the hole he thought he saw would close up while he was dancing around.

we didn't adjust. and even doing all that we may have lost.

and i think it needed to be in order to be the impetus of change on the offensive coaching side of things.

not sure if JT can be the qb of this team anymore...his regression is inexplicable. so much going on but the biggest issue is that he can't hit the broad side of a barn right now.

the reluctance to use the rb is just something ill never understand.

defense did it's damn thing tonight and all season long.

but the book is out on Barrett. he cannot throw accurately against big-time defenses. it's the foundation of their problems right now, because everybody else on offense has to be better for Ohio State to overcome that.

prince will be fine. he's a true soph. chill.

the offensive staff has completely short circuited. THEY CAN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE FUCKING PLAY CALLS IN ON-TIME. I'd rather not toss the players under the bus with the 'this guy sucks', 'this player is trash', stuff. there's plenty of talent on that side of the ball. theres no leadership. the malaise and poor body language was noticeable from the very first drive.

they're not being put in a position to succeed. the staff had 35 days to get shit figured out and again, they can't even get play calls out onto the field. 5 called run plays in the first half? you've got to be kidding me.

the offense no-showed in plenty of games last year with zeke, mike thomas, taylor decker, etc., on that side of the ball. it's not a talent issue.

no argument from me. but this group of WRs is extremely rough around the edges. all those 4 and 5* wrs not a single true fr stud? blaah

what sort of body language? i was drunk for most of the game so i missed the details and i have zero desire to go back and look

JT is a great buckeye and a great leader but I think he needs to move on if this offense is going to evolve. his play has regressed immensely and i don't think it's all his fault. he hasn't been the same since his injury and he's definitely a step slower. the offense is a clusterfuck and this has hurt his development not to mention whatever coaching beck is providing or not providing. he also takes a million hits per game. ask tom brady to carry the ball 25 times and his passes might all of a sudden look a little erratic.

but the bottom line is JT's passing abilities have regressed to rock bottom levels and i think his confidence is shot. i don't believe we can win a NC with him at qb.

>yea i mean they sucked THIS year. michael jordan however, a
>true freshman...was a gem for us all year. tonight his injury
>killed us.

O-line had their ups and downs. knox hadn't gotten any real snaps the entire year and he was clearly unprepared and put into a tough spot against maybe the 2nd best DL in all of football. next year possibly they put Pridgeon at RT and maybe move Prince inside. I'm not worried about the OL.

>no argument from me. but this group of WRs is extremely rough
>around the edges. all those 4 and 5* wrs not a single true fr
>stud? blaah

next year it will be victor, mack, grimes and lindsay. i think KJ hill looks solid as well. sit campbell down he's not a WR. i think the talent at the position will improve...it's up to Meyer to revamp the passing game to utilize their talents.

>yea, & once weber coughed the pill up they nutted up and went
>deeper into their shell.

i think weber's fumble was in the 2nd half? he wasn't written into the game plan at all. zeke 2015 vs MSU part 2.

and now suddenly he's a hot topic after a horrendous loss which he had jack shit to do with, lol.

i don't know what exactly brown sugar is referring to but the only incident i remember with zach smith and mich was when the mich PR hype team took shots at smith with this recruiting ad or whatever you want to call it:

http://image.cleveland.com/home/cleve-media/width620/img/osu_impact/photo/zach-smith-twitter-recruiting-graphic-24844759cc3e8d5f.jpg

in this instance i have no issue with smith clapping back.

the irony of it all is that mich players have been the biggest loudmouths on social media for as long as social media has existed...and have been nothing but complete losers on the field. fuck them.

minnesota had a big game against wazzou...maybe they should be pissed about osu getting a better bowl bid as well.

maybe 80 other DI teams can gripe about it because I'm quite confident that 80 other teams couldve put forth a better showing than osu did last night. but that doesn't change what occurred on the field over the course of the regular season.

fact that OSU didn't win their conf nor did they beat the eventual champ. before the selections were done, I thought it made more sense for the PSU to be in.

the right side of the 0-line has been suspect all year, and they took advantage of michael jordans injury. his replacement was clearly not ready. and the offensive gameplan was putrid. just awful. back to the drawing board.

good thing we got another top 3 class coming in.

>fact that OSU didn't win their conf nor did they beat the
>eventual champ.

and then there's also the issue of PSU having lost 2 games while OSU only lost one. in the BCS era, PSU wouldn't even be up for discussion.

OSU laid an absolute egg but it's sports, not mathematics. shit happens. the committee nor us common folk had the foresight to have predicted that outcome. if anyone did, then i hope they wagered their life savings on clemson as a dog.

ultimately we aint beating Bama because of the discrepancy in talent and superior coaching

we skunked OSU with two turnovers
that wont happen against Bama
Hurts will struggle but we struggle against big RB's (see Cook,Connor)
once an offensive players hits the second level and makes it through our D line...good luck
Deshaun will have turnovers
D will give up yards
Plus Saban always pulls out his bag of tricks against us

im not looking at this seasons stats or anything but just from memory, I dont believe there are two better QBs in CFB than these two.

the most impressive thing about Hurts to me is he never shies away from contact or slides, and doesnt seem to take big hits. a lot of the time he puts more of a hit on the defender than they do him.

its going to be a long wait for this game! so excited for it tho.

to make his own decisions.

obviously, yesterday was his worst game of the year. seemed they just wanted to maintain ball control and not take shots, being content running him 19 times.

Lamar couldn't even breathe against LSU and Hurts ran for 114 on them averaging almost 6ypc.

i think calling a true freshman that led his team to a national championship "terrible" is a bit of a stretch, a HATEFUL one at that.

sometimes just doing what needs to be done to get a W is enough without a bunch of hollow empty stats.

no hard feelings jalen, but i don't think you're a very good qb. maybe in 3 years you will be, but not right now.

i would say bama's ineptitude on offense was the only reason why wash was able to hang in that game. they had the ball multiple times at midfield and couldn't get shit done. play calling didn't help matters...but as far as i was concerned they should've just handed it off every damn play since wash couldn't stop them and jalen was completely ineffective..

Francois folded like a cheap lawn chair in the Louisville game, Hurts was down 24 to Ole Miss and CAME BACK TO WIN. no cheap lawn chairs for the Texan.

they have pretty similar numbers, unless we take a gander at the rushing yards that are laughably in Hurts favor. Francois had FIVE GAMES with negative rushing yards. Hurts almost had 900 to Francois 198.

completion percentage is very lopsided in Hurts favor

so im failing to see what metric you're even using with that 8 game line when Hurts literally did everything better (like not get absolutely embarrassed to an overrated Louisville team)

i really have nothing against Francois i think he's going to be a stud. he isnt on Hurts level.

And ole Miss? The team that lost back to back blowouts vs Vandy and Miss St to miss out on a bowl? Louisville has the Heisman winner and plays in a better conference so that means nothing.

but ill be your huckleberry.

i can easily point out the team Francois lost to by THIRTY TWO POINTS lost to Kentucky at home. Florida beat Kentucky by more than 5 touchdowns.

Kentucky finished .500 in SEC play and 4th in the SEC east.

lol @ calling the ACC better tho. Louisville finished second in the ACC and just got steamrolled by two SEC teams to finish the year. absolute freshly paved freeway steamroll.

Syracuse, Duke, Virginia, Boston College.
Missouri, Ole Miss, Vandy, South Carolina

you really want to try and ride the ACC is better train, be my guest. the bottom four squads in each conference are right there. please dont pretend a playoff of those 8 shitty teams would have the ACC come out on top.

do you recall Tennessee taking Virginia Tech to a very large building full of nascar fans and creating ANOTHER FRESHLY PAVED FREEWAY STEAMROLL? I remember that.

really Francois beating Florida is the only leg you can stand on and the chair with the flimsy leg is about to snap.

You're pumping a comeback win against a team that was not good. They weren't even decent.

And that's great UK beat Louisville, but every other instate rivalry went the ACCs way. The VT team you referenced wasn't the same team in September. Ole Miss was shitty in November, the SEC was shitty in November, and they have been OK at best this bowl season. Vandy and Miss St didn't prove anyone wrong, or make Ole Miss not seem like a tire fire. Georgia Tech went 3-0 against SEC bowl teams including the one that beat Louisville. VT stomped a mudhole in Arky and then walked it dry. FSU just beat Michigan.

Y'all are gonna stop disrespecting the ACC.

other than the 1 run hurts busted to start the 2nd half he was probably responsible for more negative plays than positive ones.

clearly alabama doesn't trust him to do anything either.

I cut him some slack as a freshman, but he's at Alabama where he can be a conservative game manager with all the talent around him. His wheels are more valuable than his arm at this point. I wouldn't put good odds on Nick trusting him to win the game for the Tide. I certainly wouldn't.

One place where Clemson has a decided advantage.

They fumbled as many times in the first 2 games as they did the rest of the season.

So if it's still the same team, isn't that more of a statistical anomaly than anything else?

losing five fumbles in one game is pretty unlucky. they outplayed Tennessee by a lot of other metrics. I was just pointing out that Virginia Tech didn't really change much -- the turnovers were the reason Tennessee won.

of extremely high scoring games, but this was a classic. Also, there were so many spectacular individual efforts - so it wasn't like a big slopfest of undisciplined defense. McSorley badly missed a wide open Gisecki on the last drive which may have led to the win or at least close to field goal range. He hesitated and threw too late and too soft. The last throw was one I'm sure he will learn from. Tough break. I can't be mad though. PSU has got a young team and recruiting has picked up a lot of steam. It should be a bright future ahead for Franklin and co.

Take that free Nittany Lions gear over there in the storied old land of the Lion!

Sandusky can't touch you over there across the Atlantic!

Meanwhile, your boy is getting a free Joe McKnight jersey in the mail compliments of a proud Philly Penn State grad silly enough to not take the points!

EVERYBODY WINS!!

Well, except those Western PA, gun-toting, Trump-voting, child-rape-enabling, Paterno-statue-worshipping scumbags...and the poor kids who unwittingly hitched themselves to their covered wagon that is.

WOW.

"Are you not entertained?!?"-Russ Crowe

I went from being mad the Trojans weren't up 28 points early, to being extremely pessimistic they could ever pull out the game, to running out in the Philadelphia street, draped in cardinal-and-gold, almost daring to get my ass beat.

Man, that was fun.

I wish that would have been on New Year's Day as the Football Gods always intended but hey, like I told Ceej on FB, we needed the space last Sunday to get that full slate of absolutely meaningless and mediocre pro games in the prior day.

Amazing game.

Has any team ever scored four touchdowns on four plays in a Bowl game before?

Barkley and Godwin were giving me heart palpitations.

Baby Fat Darnold's stat line was just silly.

Ronald Jones in Joey's jersey nearly brought a tear to the eye.

Tee Martin called a great game, although I thought they needed to run the ball a lot more than they did in the first half, RoJo's inability to get footing on that shitty field didn't help him tho.

No Cam, No Adoree', No Time, No Timeouts? No Problem!

Larry Smith and John Robinson to name a couple in my memory.

Lane Kiffin fourteen games after beating Oregon in Autzen.

If the Trojans build momentum from here, he'll stay.

If they don't, he'll be gone.

I'm okay with that for now.

The rain over here in South Jersey tastes like the sweet salty dawg tears of State College's pain.

And the Lil 10 went 3-7 in Bowls after all that gloating and whining that the supposed best conference in football's respective fanbases did, including 1-3 versus the vaunted ACC.

Somehow Sark is gonna be the offensive coordinator for BAMA in the title game, while Saban has his Gatorade bottle tested for that good ole Montgomery moonshine.

This Bowl season has "been bery good to me"(c)Sammy Sosa

I only wish it was Michigan rather than Wisconsin that actually won, they're the only fanbase and program of the relevant ones that I can stand.

that was supposed to run PSU off the field before the first half even ended.

I didn't even see much of a talent discrepancy between the 2 squads. and PSU hung half a hundred on y'all.

>that was supposed to run PSU off the field before the first
>half even ended.

and they should have, shoulda been up by about 28 out the gate, they dicked around despite never punting in the first half, took bad penalties, missed kicks, slipped while kicking up clumps of Rose turf quite a bit, went away from the run, PSU got a few lucky bounces and pretty much every call until the final drive.

PSU played better than I thought they would or could from the end of the second quarter on though.

Well, until their secondary self-destructed and McSorry started tossing out more gifts in the final two minutes of play.
>
>I didn't even see much of a talent discrepancy between the 2
>squads. and PSU hung half a hundred on y'all.

and PSU came up just shy of less than half a hundred, while USC ended up a little over, which is why PSU LOST, despite being higher ranked and all those assholes flew out to invade California for the weekend.

This means USC remains undefeated in the Rose against those fools, this time doing so in a game dedicated to the last guy who ran roughshod over them in the Rose seven years ago.

Meanwhile PSU heads home pointing fingers and politicking to get the Paterno statue back up.

"Don't give that sucka no statue, GIVE 'EM GUTS!"(c)Clubber Lang
