had a good game last go around, but this Bulls bench is horrible. Had no idea McDermott meant that much to our reserves.....Just gotta get through the first half of the season....

Bulls got down when the starters were in.

I wasn't going to say anything until after January when we'd had a couple games with a full roster.

I don't think it matters.

bulls starting lineup is one of the best 5 man units in the league.

http://tinyurl.com/5manlineups

their problem is their bench is shit, because their 2 best bench players are out with injuries. the domino effect of which is a bum like isaiah canaan becoming a key cog.

Those poor starts are compounded by our bad bench which can put games out of reach by the half. So I agree that the bench needs to be addressed. But there's something else. I've hated how we switch on defense. Opposing teams game plan for the Bulls? Keep passing. Somebody will make a mistake on an assignment and be open.

a) mcdermott's absence is definitely felt --

6-3 in games he's played
5-7 in games he's missed

on court: .512 eFG%, 114.9 points per 100 possessions
off court: .468 eFG%, 107.3 points per 100 possessions

b) this team turns into complete trash whenever butler leaves the floor. swan dive right into the toilet.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/butleji01/on-off/2017

on: + 8.8 points per 100 possessions
off: -12.6 points per 100 possessions

it's almost comical at this point how much canaan is playing. i think he's played 24+ minutes in 10 of the last 12 games. and critical 4th qtr minutes too. lol. dude is trash. well, he's trash @ 25 mpg. in a JL3/nate/AB role, he'd be fine, but hoiberg (by necessity with the McD/MCW injuries) is putting way too much on his plate.

those 2 can't get back soon enough.

Maybe he will get there in time, but right now he's fine occupying that space between Towns and Wiggins, opportunistic scoring and occasional highlight. He doesn't get to the line and his decision-making is still suspect. Also he's kind of a frontrunner, he gonna score when his team is up 10 or down 10, but when it's close he usually tightens up. And he's the worst defender out of the three.

kinda fucks over Wiggins, cause he's forced to guard small forwards, which is not optimal (he's still too skinny). People are clamoring for Thibs to make Zach the sixth man to shore up the bench scoring, but that's a non-starter.

Wolves got nobody who can replace Wiggins at the three anyway. Bjellica is a tweener, Bazz not good enough, Rush checked out.

You don't need to put your 5 best guys as starters. Stagger the lineup. Thins does a really shitty job of that- especially this year.

Take dieng out of the starting 5 let KAT play C and bjelica can go to 4. Right there you instantly open up more spacing for the guards and wings.

And then you can have dieng and wiggling or Zak leading a bench unit

Dirty little secret in Minny is that KAT has been ass on defense in his sophomore season. Rubio wasn't up to par either till recently. You take out Gorgui and you'll have three minus defenders on the floor at the same time in Bjellica, Towns and LaVine. Also you will marginalize Aldrich, who has been their best defensive big.

LaVine might not have Russy intensity, but he has
that athleticism, is actually longer, and has a better
natural jumper

Dude has no real flaws. And because Mitchell forced him
to play point in an an old ass kicker way, he's developed
as a patient player, rather than a run and gunner.

No real flaws. Dude is thorough
