but yes, kevin love was STATISTICALLY a top 5 player in 13-14, and STATISTICALLY his team played at an elite level that year when he was on the floor and at a lottery level when he left it. which is actually the polar opposite of stat-padding.

love was a legitimate mvp candidate in 14. and those numbers weren't empty. the t-wolves starting lineup that year was STATISTICALLY one of the best 5 man units in the entire league. they routinely built up big leads which their terrible, awful bench then invariably proceeded to squander. even with a lame-duck coach who was (understandably) distracted by his wife's medical issues and just going thru the motions, they still ended the season with one of the best scoring differentials of any non-playoff team of recent vintage.
this is all fact btw. easily verifiable. none of it even remotely controvertible. this stuff is pretty common knowledge and old news to ppl who follow the league closely.
that team played at an elite level when love was on the floor, and a near league worst level when he was off. if that qualifies as "historic stat padding" or whatever you called it, then your definition is truly bizarre.

Melo took 10 teams to the playoffs, led the league in scoring, 3rd in MVP voting. Love put up great stats a couple times on non playoff teams and was a distant 3rd banana (like almost washed Glen Rice was to peak Shaq and almost peak Kobe) on a champion that featured the greatest player since Jordan.
when the thunder end this season around .500 (which they will), don't lose that 'tensity.
