""The Quickening": 2016-17 Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Post"

We're back again. The faces change, but the drill remains the same.

This year's team is a bit different and might be one of Cal's most skilled bunches yet.

It definitely has the ability to be his best Defensive team yet. Have fun dribbling against these kids. And when we take the ball from you, we're scoring in 3 seconds.

Here's the run down.

Isaiah Briscoe - in my opinion the most complete guard in college basketball. Defensive stopper. Dribble penetration, passing, finishing at the basket, and he looks like he has his shooting touch back. He will be the vocal leader of this team and a coach on the floor much like Tyler was last year.

Derek Willis - if you would've told me 2 years ago, Derek could be an NBA player, I would've called you a liar. But he's made himself into a 6'10 sharp shooter with athleticism. Kentucky develops 'em. Playing with and against the best every day forces you to improve.

Dominique Hawkins - Senior. Defensive stopper and key reserve.

Isaac Humphries - the big 7 footer. He can score around the basket and has a nice jumper. He's improving at a rapid pace.

Mychal Mulder - a good shooter. Should provide a scoring punch off the bench.

Bam Adebayo - Man child with a non-stop motor. He can shoot too. Possible number one overall pick.

DeAaron Fox - a hybrid of John Wall/Rajon Rondo/Brandon Jennings. A ballhawk on defense. And probably the fastest player in the country.

Malik Monk - Russell Westbrook freak level athleticism. And he has a sweet shooting touch.

Wenyen Gabriel - 6'10, all arms and legs now. Still finding his way, but has potential to be defensive stopper. And very well might end up being the best player on the team in the long run.

Sacha Killeya Jones - Another 6'11 stud. Great moves around the basket and jumper. Could eventually end up being Anthony Davis-lite.

Tai Wynard - a tough rebounder and post player. I can't wait to see his progress.

Good first game. A lot further along than most of Cal's teams. Briscoe and DW hooped. Fox looks like a terror. Monk finally found his stroke. Wenyen was active. Bam is gonna get foul calls cuz he's too strong and too big. Needs to learn how to avoid those.

All in all a great start.
