"Poll question: Better defensive player: KG or Zo?"
Sun Sep-25-16 09:08 PM by melmag

I can honestly say these are my two favorite players all time, (outside Cheese of course)

Essentially watched both careers from inception to expiration..

I remember Zo setting a national freshman recor for blocks in 89 that still stands today.. dude literally terrorized Big East opponents

KG just dazzling folks with the all purpose skills at the 95 McDonalds game.. When he crossed Shamgod, I fucking lost it man

I was always in awe of how much Zo dominated for an undersized center, and even held his own in the era of great bigs..

and KG's magnetic personality & 'tensity rubbed off on teammates like no other. Yo he had Big Baby, Eddie House, etc slappin the floor on defense Lol!

Both 2 of the grittiest, hardest working, true to the game players you'll prolly ever see

Anyway, assuming your offense is taken care of, who you want as the ANCHOR to yo defense?

Poll result (14 votes)
Garnett (12 votes)Vote
Mourning (2 votes)Vote

The better and far more versatile individual defender, and arguably one of the best backline anchors ever due to his defensive anticipation, foot speed, length, and perhaps most importantly, communication.

As good as he was in his era, I thought he might have been even more dominant if his prime was in the current small ball era. Could you imagine MVP KG playing the 5 instead of Draymond Green for a small ball team??? That would be all around unfair.

Zo was a beast but KG really ushered in a new era in a lot of ways.

but what he might have been best at was as a communicator and defensive leader, he quarterbacked and anchored those Boston teams defensively, veteran guys like Ray and Pierce who weren't really known for their defense before as well as the young guys they mixed in were all forced to raise their games defensively to become one of the greatest defensive teams of the modern era. KG set the tone from day 1.
