it is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. - sherlock holmes
basically lowell and the friendship he had with bill walsh, which he shoehorns into print at every opportunity, got him feeling like he can say whatever, whenever.

and just way overplayed his hand.
whatever chip feels about the protest, any half smart coach doesn't want to let some media guy lead the railroading of one of his players, cohn's an idiot.

Hearing Chip make comments of support towards Colin strikes me as a position he wouldn't have taken when he was coach with the Eagles.
Given how some players on the Eagles mentioned that Chip's style rubbed them wrong, especially as it related to a clash of attitudes based up one race, it is striking in a good way that Chip is more welcoming of the right of Colin to protest while playing on the team.
Also, is this reporter consciously trying to play contrarian to get attention for his articles or column? He disagrees... And...?
AFAIK, he isn't a political columnist. Who cares what his stance is?
"Kelly talks technical football to extricate himself from answering hard, fair questions. He knows the media won’t understand a word he’s saying, puts up a verbal shield.
"On Monday, he went on and on about something the Bills defense did called the “inside twist.” Is it a dance? Whatever the twist is, the Niners didn’t handle it in that 45-16 embarrassment. Come on, baby, let’s do the twist."
LMAO. boy, Kelly must've really been speaking in tongues when he started talking about "quarters coverage" and "sub-packages". baffling! this is why most players and coaches do not respect the old media: they actually know *ZERO* about the game they criticize others for.

football. They've done such a disservice to the sport. Many of the intricacies of the game have been underappreciated by the masses for years.
That may be the most illuminating example of just how ignorant members of the media are when it comes to sports knowledge. Looking for narratives all the time, no due diligence, just pure garbage.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
