how bad do you have to be to not even make the top 75 as a receiver in Philly? two guys that had decent starts to their career, but proof that you cannot extrapolate all sample sizes -- they got worse the more playing time you gave them.

25-years-old and 26-years-old respectively.

was an embarrassment to put it mildly. His effort improved, but his play didn't stand out. Not sure what went wrong with Givens. It's not like he was some coveted free agent, but it appeared he would have a legit shot to make it as our 'speedy' WR. I can't recall him doing anything of note in the preseason games. Agoholor and Huff have been underachievers and haven't done much to earn their roster spot, but it's makes more sense to keep them due to their contracts.

top-70 pick that couldn't play out his rookie contract on one of the least talented teams in the league. I remember him being a prime example of the "draftnik riser", when everybody not in a NFL scouting department tries to find and hype an overlooked player.

the old curmudgeon, who's eternally self-entitled per his friendship with bill walsh, has been PAWG butt hurt dating back a few years 'cause he couldn't get anything but one-word answers from kap (and harbaugh).

hell, even gabbert son'd him last year in a presser.

at least the Colts didn't give this guy $40 million a few years ago. although I know Grigson wanted to.

you hardly ever want a player the Ravens elected not to keep.

rookie UDFA who looked like the next great Tennessee receiver as a freshman, then quickly disappeared in two years after that. size (6'4, 215) and speed (4.4) but no production.

we'll always have 2013 South Carolina though:

When they signed him:

"We're going to play him at safety in base downs and then in nickel we are going to use him to match up at different spots playing inside," coach Pete Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle at the time. "So we may be able to develop a really unique role for him. We have seen him play, back to his New England days they used him quite a bit inside and he really matched up on tight ends and slot receivers and things like that that he matched up well, and we are going to see how that develops."

---
On 8/31

“We just felt like we ran out of time getting him ready to play safety,” Carroll said. “The specialty stuff he could do, and there was no question about that. But to fit on the roster and all that, I thought that it was going to be a race for him to make it. He could play. He could play for us, which he did in games. But I think it’s still a ways to come.”

Carroll said that out of respect for Browner, the Seahawks released him this week as opposed to waiting until final cut-downs this weekend, when he wouldn’t have as much time before the season starts to latch on with a new team.

This right here. I didn't know either. I figured the tape he laid down for the Saints was hella incriminating.

He's was pretty much always a grope and run coverage guy. Once you start calling the gropes on him, he's finna get yoked on (c) Randy Moss. With where he is at now physically, it just ain't happening. And I don't know if I buy him as a safety either..you still need either 'make-up' speed or spidermanish instincts to be a safety.

not a great outlook that he couldn't make the top 75 as a rookie. reminds me of Corey Moore from Virginia Tech, in that everything that made him great in college is just below the barrier for NFL participation.

their 2013 2nd rounder (Hunter), 2014 2nd rounder (Sankey) and 2015 3rd rounder (Poutasi).

Hunter has terrible hands and never developed beyond "lanky guy with speed". Sankey is a replacement level back who got passed by Murray/Henry and has little special teams value.

WTF was former GM Ruston Webster doing, tho? only *four* players from their 2015 draft class (nine) are still with the team. it's Mariota and a couple of backups -- once cuts are final, there may only be two left.

he just didn't take it. He fumbled his first attempt at a kickoff return against the Eagles. He got a concussion the last preseason game, but didn't show anything in between to justify keeping him around.

he was very good in college but his hand weren't consistent and he wasn't blazing fast

I could see him catching on with another team but only if he takes a slot role, I expect the injury and all the time he spent as WR1 in Lincoln makes him sloppy in that role during practice though.

In response to Reply # 36

He's long, fast, acrobatic, smooth, strong, and was dropless in his last college season, so you know somewhere in there are some very good hands.

I just don't get how this dude shows up in NE and starts dropping everything unless his confidence got obliterated. It seems like he just overthinks shit or gets too nervous when the ball comes his way, I don't get what happened.

But I'm kinda apt to blame the QB or coach or some dynamic up here when time and time and time again, very talented WRs and CBs show up in Foxboro and just faceplant.

if it is though, his hands were never great. he made great catches, but made routine ones difficult as well. boom or bust kid and he went the latter route.

and he never showed consistent receiving technique. he trapped a large number of catches into his body. he'd have a spectacular catch (I saw his ECU corner touchdown one-hander live) then bobble a simple drag route.

a running back may have never lost a fumble his senior year, but if he has poor ball security technique and starts fumbling in the NFL, his past college statistics don't really matter. especially in the pros, were every little flaw gets exposed.

Dropson in the pros, unless your confidence is totally obliterated for some reason.

Too too too many WRs and CBs with obvious talent show up in New England and go the way of the Wampanoag.

This one sucks. He helped them bigtime last year when CJA couldn't get his foot to act right. But I guess life comes at you fast when you start getting beat out in camp by cheaper and/or younger options.

Who wants a kinda tough scatback who might not be in top shape who sat on the free agent market for a month earlier this year? Frisco? Indy? ATL? Anybody?

Bucs' second rounder from 2015. got a DUI today and has generally been in the doghouse his entire time in Tampa. probably for stuff like getting drunk the morning of a full practice.

was also suspended in college for a DUI so he should get help before he kills someone. before that, however, a desperate NFL team will sign him to rehabilitate "the man on the field" and his problems will continue.
