The chargers just pulled their final offer from the table, after offering him (a) a larger signing bonus than anyone in the last two drafts, (b) more money per year than anyone in this draft besides Carson Wentz, and (c) the "largest payment and the highest percentage of signing bonus received in the first calendar" of any Chargers first-round pick since the adoption of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement in 2011.
So now he's gonna sit out a full season? Does he think he'll be back in the top 10 next year after missing a year? Does he have to reenter the draft or would he just be a free agent? How much more attention would this be getting if it wasn't the chargers? how much more attention would this be getting if he was black? who the fuck is advising him?

they want him to sign a deal that let's them recoup money if he doesn't pan out, fuck that. The NFL is a shitshow in how they treat players compared to MLB and NBA. The way the pay structure and non-guaranteed deals in the NFL work the player is always right when they want to hold out/re-negotiate IMO.

Chargers fucking themselves on a stupid principle. They are the only team in the league that puts that type of language in a contract with such a high draft pick.

Hint: if the team needs to make this many qualifications to try and sell the public on what a great deal they're offering this young man, then it's probably not actually that good a deal.
In conclusion: end drafts.

Chargers won't give a second thought to cutting you after 3 years when you've had 12 concussions generating old as Alex Spanos a couple hundred million.

He's conceded on deferring part of his bonus or the offset stuff. Chargers want both. Basically the NFL has made it to where these types of holdouts aren't supposed to happen, and the Chargers are going to dick around with their 3rd overall pick for what amounts to *maybe* $2 million dollars, that only matters if Chargers execs are so shitty at their jobs that they drafted a bust at #3 overall. The Chargers are the worst.
I don't even like Bosa. He seems like a real dipshit, but i still side with him and his agent on this one.

Not getting a #3 pick signed is on the organization forreal. If it is 2 million or something, pay the money, assume that you are capable of not drafting a complete fuckup at #3, hope for a healthy head and knees, and go from there.
I'm somewhat surprised that the first 4 or 5 picks aren't damn near negotiated before the pick happens. I know there's the whole 'slotting' where cats know in general what they should be getting but c'mon Chargers.
Of course if Joey Bosa's name was JaVoritavious Jenkins, he's be all kinds of entitled a-holes and all of that all up in the media echo chamber.
