Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones dies at 23 years old
Bryce Dejean-Jones, who showed bright potential for the Pelicans after a midseason call-up from the NBA Development League, has died at age 23, the Ames (Iowa) Tribune and The Vertical reported Saturday.
Dejean-Jones died from a gun shot wound in his abdomen late Friday, The Vertical reported. He was killed in Dallas County, Texas, according to the Tribune.
Dejean-Jones played college basketball at Southern California, UNLV and Iowa State before going undrafted in 2015. But he played well enough in the D-League to earn a midseason call-up with the Pelicans, then a starting job for the injury-plagued team.
The 6-6 guard averaged 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 19.9 minutes over 14 NBA games (11 starts) before a wrist injury ended his season in February. But he impressed with his combination of 3-point shooting and defensive ability.

What I am reading is that he was locked out of his girlfriend's apartment, he went to the wrong floor, banged on the door over and over, broke it down, then broke down the (obviously locked) bedroom door. At that point the resident shot him and there is no indication they knew each other.
Maybe he didn't have his phone to call his GF or whatever but my thing is like why break down the BEDROOM door? You're already in the apartment. You can't tell it's not hers? Dude must have been drunk as shit or something. Sad story, maybe there is more to it. If not, just a fucked-up accident.
