Man would I love to take 2 of 3 at Citi...but I have a bad feeling our smoke and mirrors offense gets exposed over the next week against that staff of aces.

But damn man, Scherzer vs Syndergaard tonight? Flame emoji.

ya'll prolly getting Syndy, Colon and Harvey who's been struggling.

Maybe the adrenaline gets him going. maybe he gives up 5 runs in 5 innings per usual.

Ya'll are catching a break not getting Matz and next week i'm assuming you get Colon, Harvey, Matz.

So in 6 games Colon and harvey twice and Matz and Syndy once which is a decent draw for ya'll

collins has showed his willing to tinker the rotation down the stretch to make sure ya'll see the best when its necessary. The funny thing is right today all the pitchers have shown some issues.

Syndy has trouble holding runners.
Degrom velocity is down
Harvey is lost.
Matz hasn't pitched in 9 days and last time he did that he got shelled
Colon is a senior citizen

that being said, i'd rather throw Syndy degrom matz

After the Cubs, probably the best two teams in the NL. Tremendous pitching, big markets, big personalities. Really looking forward to it.

The Nationals have never really played meaningful games in September. They've either been 5+ up or 5+ down the last 5 years. This could be the year it happens.

An endless array of story lines here. Diverging Tommy John shutdown paths with Harvey/Strasburg. Minor Jerry Blevins and Matt den Dekker swap in 2015. Oliver Perez. Zimmerman and Wright's overlapping childhood. Probably 50/50 Papelbon says something stupid at some point about the Mets this year.

I am worried about Max tonight coming off such a high pitch count and the adrenaline of the 20. Hopefully he has more in the tank to get us 6 innings

Prett cool to have that kind of intensity. Nats had one good chance erased with that Ramos GDP, was hoping they could get to that middle relief but didn't work out that way.

Scherzer pitched pretty well, dude just doesn't give up singles.

Was that the formerly ice-cold Anthony Rendon basically won the game. Not only did we take a 2 run lead, but one of the bats we've relied upon most in years past finally woke up.

I watched most of last nights game at bar in DC with some Mets fans, which was fun. Tonight game though...rubber match, Stras vs. Harvey. Rendon FINALLY woke up. Werth was perfect so for last night, the order worked. But dam if we dont need a leadoff. Ben nor Michael doing anything.

It's clear he is having strength issues from all the innings pitched last year after the surgery. Ironic it happened against the Stras who Mets fans mocked. Thats a major surgery, nothing to mess around with. But its a great case study Jordan Zimmerman and Stras both had an innings limit...Harvey didnt and now we see the results.

i think it happened bc we were against the nats and had come into the series on a losing streak.

but when you factor in what he did last year coupled with his modest salary $4m and the fact that he's clearly doing all that he can to improve why boo?

I'm fine with fans booing if they are at the point that they are done with the player and just rather they get traded/benched/waived or whatever or if its an issue of a player being lazy/not trying.

The plantar fasciitis he was dealing with made him look like a white Molina in 2014-15. But this year he's shown some life in his legs. About a week ago he beat out a routine GDP and according to Statcast, he hit a top speed of 20 mph, which is legitimately fast. Came in a big spot too because it allowed a run to score in a tight game. I was shocked to see that gear. Hadn't seen it in a long time.

It poured on the way into the ballpark and game didn't start until ten after 8.

Gio got knocked around bad, including back-to-back bombs to Wright and Cespedes.

If you're gonna dodge Syndergaard and De Grom in a series you MUST win that series. Harvey tomorrow, Mats on Wednesday. Hm.

Went down to the Bullpen for a few beers before the game and watched on their screen until mid 6th...Harvey was getting smacked around. Couldn't muster up any sympathy because there was a squad of about 20 Staten Island meatheads who made the trip who couldn't have been louder or drunker just milling around being obnoxious

But recently they have outdrawn the Mets in a park that's 8% smaller.

Nationals/Mets attendance

2015 - 32,343/31,725
2014 - 31,844/26,860
2013 - 32,745/26,695
2012 - 30,010/28,035

Citi Field capacity - 45,000
Nationals Park capacity - 41,313

Of course from 2005 - 2011 the Mets crushed a Nationals team that never got above .500.

he's killing the mets.

The question after last season was whether or not his new hitting approach was going to continue to translate going forward. If it does is it worth his other issues, health/defense etc. Granted, no one expected him to hit 30hr or 350 and if we kept him we obviously don't trade for Walker and in all likelihood don't sign Cespedes.

The smartest move i guess would have been to move him to 1st base and try to move duda but that's some hindsight talk. I ain't really want murph at 2nd or 3rd either.

Although it sucks to see him doing it for washington and against us, i've always been a fan of dude and am glad he's doing well. I'd rather see him get mvp than bryce lol
