"Marshawn Lynch to retire"
Sun Feb-07-16 01:00 PM by justin_scott

https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/report--marshawn-lynch-telling-people--he-plans-to-retire-174824682.html

He's been my favorite RB to watch the last 5 years or so. Glad to see him go out early, and as a Champ. Supposedly hasn't spent a dime of the $49 million he's made in salary. How hilarious would it be if he became an announcer or broadcaster..haha

he had a 4 year span where he was definitely playing at a HOF level, but that probably won't be enough, though he does have a shot.

I remember I bought his OJ-style Bills jersey his rookie year. Awesome player, awesome personality, awesome teammate and surely a Seahawks Ring of Honor guy. But HOF? Nah.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

You will probably never see a 15000 yard back.

We just don't run that much anymore.

So a 10K back with a very high prime and excellent
playoff numbers might get you in.

Lynch is at 9100. Another solid year and he's
knocking on the door, especially given his playoff
success

right now he is borderline at best and he wasn't exactly a great friend of the writers. he won't make it. but yeah, ring of honor for sure and a guy who won't be forgotten. that run against the saints alone cemented his place in football history, then a super bowl and another one he would have had if he had gotten the goddamn ball.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Only people who care about Lynch will care and talk
about it.

Everyone else will be focused on the Superbowl.

It's the perfect way to communicate it with the
many people who like him while avoiding unnecessary
coverage from the rest of the world.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

by announcing it when he did.

if he announced 1 sunday later it would be a top story about another star player retiring young.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Beast Mode carried the load to the Super Bowl, and Russy owes him a lot for taking the pressure off and allowing him room to grow.

You really can't over state the impact Beast has has on Seattle's franchise. I'll also say that I don't think Beast could have found a better home than Seattle w/Pete Carroll. Pete allowed Marshawn to be himself, and looked at everything he brought to the table while also ignoring some of the quirks that tend to drive most football coaches crazy.

Much respect to Marshawn. It's the end of an era. Seattle may very well be a great football team moving forward (fingers crossed), but it won't be the same football team by a long shot.

In a generation of swine, the one-eyed pig is king.

Say what you want about Pete, but when he's on his
Pete, it leads to some genius decisions:

- Actively seeking out and trading for Marshawn Lynch,
who he had scouted in high school and really liked

- open competition at QB, where a rookie Russell Wilson
beat out Matt Flynn

Without a doubt he had the better O-line and personally I couldn't stand him (running style, personality) but his stats are impressive, he was on the all-decade team and he was consistently good for a long time on good teams.

I hate to dismiss that out of hand because he avoided "unnecessary" contact. Clearly he still managed to gain a lot of yards while preserving his body...that's an argument, right?

contact.

Marshawn was a punishing runner who trucked defenders and wore down opposing defenses. Lynch also had more yards from scrimmage and was much better in the playoffs (six 100 yard games, 4.9 ypa vs. two 100 yard games, 3.3 ypa)

Beast Mode better.

We talked a few times about the longevity of RBs, knowing when enough is enough....he always said that when it came to the point where he felt like he just couldn't handle the punishment anymore, he would give it up. And that's what he has done, respect.

media missed out big-time during his career. antagonizing him over the typical sports cliches, when they blew their chance at one of the savviest and quotable players of his generation.

http://www.si.com/longform/big-interview/marshawn-lynch/index.html?noroute=true

SI: There was a story that you never cashed a game check—you saved all of your NFL salary money.

That’s false. I’m human. I’m very much human. If you pinch me, that hurts. I make mistakes, I’ve also made some good decisions. But why would you wanna pocket-watch me?

SI: What do you mean by that?

Your eyes is on my pockets—you wanna know about my money situation.

SI: Everybody I’ve spoken to about you has referenced your financial savvy. What’s the source of that?

You ate cereal before?

SI: I’ve eaten cereal.

Alright. Have you ever had a roach in your cereal before?

SI: No.

You haven’t, right?

SI: I have not.

If you came from eatin’ cereal with roaches in it before, Dawg . . . Feel what I’m sayin’? You wouldn’t want to do that again, right? Once you’ve seen the lowest of the low, you don’t want to go back. But, like I told you before, it’s not me—I have a good team and some smart family members around me.
