"Official Jah vs. other rookies statlines trash talk thread"

it ain't even about russell no more. lakers made a mistake and that's fine. but, too many duke-haters and philly-haters have been doing drive-bys on oak, tryna cyse when Goof Troop or Towns has a big game like Oak ain't been putting in 22 and 9 on 49% FG and 91% FT in his last five. that ain't even a big deal for him. it's a big deal when them other bammas do it, but that shit won't even be an AVERAGE oak SEASON line by next year.

i'm also making this thread because y'all niggas gon be held accountable for all these shitty games these other rookies y'all cyse over oak be throwing up.

i ain't gonna allow Goof Troop to score ZERO and not have us DISCUSS IT anymore. the muthafucka scored NO POINTS!!! he 7-3 and shoots 43%!!! but, it was supposed to be an international scandal when oak was averaging 6 boards?

'cism.

that piece of shit russell threw up last night, looking like some shitty statline my 6 year-old niece would put up with digital russell on 2k16 playing 12 minute quarters on pro level? yeah...we TALKIN BOUT THAT!

i let it slide when oak buttfucked towns last month...AAAAAAALLL game, ain't say a word. but we know what it woulda been if that went the other way. SMH...thread would be 300 replies easy.

i know oak will have his fair share of shit games, too. cool. but we already talk about them. we talk about oak when he gets ball faked by that stiff from the spurs. whatever.

In response to Reply # 0

http://www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs/article/Boban-Marjanovic-has-been-the-NBA-s-most-6705578.php

Most humans, even the giants galloping about hardwood floors, look up at Marjanovic. That's true of his stature, sure, but now it's true of a certain statistic: Player Efficiency Rating (PER).

Through the first 17 days of December, all of the NBA is left looking up at the Spurs' titan.

It's an obviously misleading number. Marjanovic's PER — an all-in-one basketball rating, which attempts to boil down all of a player's contributions into a lone number — this month is 32.8.

The peerless Steph Curry is at 31.7; 2013-14 Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant, 30.8.

WHAT'S GOOD *****? What's REALLY good?!?!????!!! Ha HA!

Zingis: 52.0 TS%
Balrog: 49.8 TS%

Your guy's under 50% dogg. That's not good. At all. For reference, his TS% is about the same as Dion Waiters... except he's a 7 foot center who takes 3/4 of his shots within 10 feet of the basket.

The young legend continues!

"oh, but, we already knew okafor was polished...he ain't got much room to improve"

FALSE...he's already improve drastically at the FT line, if he hadn't, he'd be averaging two points less.

"your man got an 80s game...all he can do is post"

FALSE...while he'll never be shooting threes (because that's for big idiots or pussies), he's already added a 15-18 footer. if he hadn't added it, he'd be averaging 4 points less.

"he can't play D"

So? Goof Troop can't shoot 45%...i'm sure they'll both improve on their respective shortcomings.

When Oak gets actual help, instead of these all-USA conference niggas, he gonna be puttin an easy 30 on Goof Troop every damn game.

We are not even 30 games into his and KAT's rookie years so it's a little early to be talking about that.

In terms of a rookie season, yes, he will wind up with the best of anyone over the past three seasons and, no, I don't think I am alone on that.

In a redraft scenario I could see Towns (was just taken over him, is not trrbll (c) Sir Charles), Oladipo and Wiggins with arguments but that's about it.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Best player, he is in a mix of four guys thus far, and then best rookie season. I think he has a very good chance to surpass Wiggins' rookie campaign, and sure, so does Towns.

Winslow had one dunk against Ilyas oval whatever the fuck, did a lil flex and disappeared again. Drummond is a dog. Fav piston since Sheed, easily.

Kristaps Porzingis Named December's Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

Posted: Jan 04, 2016

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis and the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in December.

This is the second consecutive Kia NBA Rookie of the Month award for Porzingis, who ranked second among East rookies in scoring (12.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg) and first among all rookies in blocked shots (2.20 bpg). Porzingis posted four point-rebound double-doubles and blocked three or more shots in six games. He also shot 36.6 percent (15-of-41) from three-point range for the month. During a 91-84 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 23, Porzingis made 4-of-5 from three-point range en route to 23 points and added 13 rebounds and four assists.

Porzingis' December highlights:

Dec. 2 vs. Philadelphia: Posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in a 99-87 win over the 76ers.

Dec. 4 vs. Brooklyn: Scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 108-91 victory against the Nets.

Dec. 16 vs. Minnesota: Collected 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and seven blocks during a 107-102 win over the Timberwolves.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

>
>This is the second consecutive Kia NBA Rookie of the Month

>in six games. He also shot 36.6 percent (15-of-41) from
>three-point range for the month. During a 91-84 loss to the
>Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 23, Porzingis made 4-of-5 from
>three-point range en route to 23 points and added 13 rebounds

>Dec. 2 vs. Philadelphia: Posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and

>Dec. 4 vs. Brooklyn: Scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds

Guess that doesn't matter anymore. I see how the game is played splash his good games everywhere. Stay quiet or start talk about +/-. The end all stat for the NBA.

We can play this game all year. Knowing damn well had we taken porzingis at #3, that obsolete 80's game would be the toast of NY right now. Except we passed on him because Oak better. Fit be damned.

You passed on him because Okasaurus was a known quantity, and because Porzingis wanted no parts of the Sixers and refused to interview with them at his predraft workout. Smart kid.

And I like kristaps. I think he's headed to a couple all star teams.

But those great advanced numbers he's got are a function of having teammates and no expectations, as Ba has said. Right now, he's a nice bonus when he contributes, and he can be a role player that takes a mediocre team to the next level. It's the perfect role for a rookie.

If he were on the Sixers, he would have to shoulder a much greater offensive load and get much more attention from opposing defenses. He'd see double teams every time he tried that bootleg dream shake, and the defense's number one priority would be to keep him from getting those put back dunks.

Again, I like Staps, but let's not pretend a huge part of the difference in advanced stats between him and Jah is that Staps is playing with vastly better players.

Zingis was like nah, i'm just getting started. They boo'd today but will be cheering soon. PERfect fit for NY. Even if he did wind up sucking and became a bust, you'd have to respect his attitude.

most nights. They are starting to let him run more with the knicks 2nd unit so that he can shoulder the offensive load. Some nights he has it, some nights he don't. His contributions aren't a bonus, they are pretty much needed for the knicks to play well.

And that's just offense. He's been great on the defense end too...guarding his man and obviously on help defense.

Porzingis is second on the Knicks in minutes played, second in scoring, and leads the team in rebounding and blocks. Not sure how you would categorize that as a role player. He is a major contributor on the team.

As for the putbacks, dude is 7-3 with a 7-6 wingspan, good athleticism & great instincts for the ball/around the rim, and he ain't scared of the brothers (c) Spike. he'd be getting putbacks regardless.

a young big man whose ability to get his own shot is still developing? I'm seriously not sure he'd be doing 10 ppg here. Probably, but not sure.

And lest I be accused of hating, I think 3-6 going to multiple ASGs no matter where he landed. It's less about him and more about us.

Oak will be the one getting traded

Reasoning was that Embiid and Oak cant play together, Noel and Oak are iffy, and Oak is the only one with any trade value anyways

Not sure how realistic it is but it seems like they will have painted themselves into a corner IF embiid comes back

Sixers msgboards lose sight of that too. All this talk of building around embiid and trading people is way too premature. I mean this time last year we were all fawning over him working out before games. He's a big man with foot injuries who is still a rookie with 2 years of rust.

He's a magical unicorn at this point.

In my opinion anyway. Too risky to let go of a elite big, for a slightly better big with a bad injury history.

Also, why so emotional? I can appreciate Kristaps' ability and Jah's at the same time. I like bball, don't you?

In response to Reply # 0

Jah needs to play harder in defense and get int better shape, no big secret. Finally, brown has told him to just go as hard as he can on both ends and is pulling him regularly. He's playing less overall minutes, but his effort has improved a lot on defense since the last injury. And as last night shows, brown is not afraid to stretch him out to mid 30s minutes to reward good play. This is how we should have handled him all along.

Tragic that Nerlens and Ish played like shit for three quarters. Hence the reason we were down 18pts.

But no one will remember anyone of that. Ish was so clutch and the oops were ferocious.

In response to Reply # 167

He is stronger than Porzingis so won some low post battles on offense
As far as I remember though they weren't even matched up often as Zingis was on Nerlens. That being said though, I missed the first few mins and I think Jah had 6 points or something early so maybe that was on Zingis, please tell

Anyway, Zingis shot better (7-11 vs 10-17), had more rebounds (12 vs 7 and Zingis had 7 in the 1st qrt alone), more blocks (3 vs 2) and more assists (4 vs 0).

He also played more minutes and would have finished the game / played OT if he didn't get hurt because at this point his coach trusts him. Zingis doesn't get benched because he is a liability. Bad coaching or Jah weakness I don't know/don't care, he got benched and the Sixers came back.

We know Jah is more efficient offensively right now and is a top 3 low post player already in his rookie year. Y'all don't have to lie and exaggerate to point that out

http://www.nba.com/knicks/news/kristaps-porzingis-named-january-eastern-conference-rookie-month

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis and the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in January. Each player earned the honor for the third consecutive month.

Porzingis ranked fourth among all first-year players in scoring (15.3 ppg) and second in rebounding (7.2 rpg) in January. He also tied Towns for the rookie lead in blocked shots (1.63 bpg) and paced the East's first-year players in three-point field goal percentage (37.5). Porzingis posted four point-rebound double-doubles, including a 28-point, 11-rebound performance in a 100-99 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 8. He scored at least 12 points in 13 straight games from Jan. 3-26.

he sounds very confident and enthusiastic about it too:

"And so the ripple effects are that we have to try Jahlil at the four. So let’s learn that. Because as we’ve learned, it is painful at times. Real painful.”

“And even to the point where we have to go in end-game situations, I hope that I stick with what I just said.”

- The young legend continues to thrive!

http://www.dailylocal.com/20160223/brett-brown-makes-it-official-anointing-okafor-a-forward-for-the-rest-of-the-sixers-season

"So while Okafor has sputtered at the defensive end against less mobile players, his audition at a power forward spot could be a franchise-changer, particularly with Joel Embiid said to be a 2016 Opening Day possibility at the five spot.

“It’s going to help us, because we’re going to learn more,” Brown said. “If you had to make them go someplace where they’d have an impact, Nerlens we know is best at the rim. And so the ripple effects are that we have to try Jahlil at the four. So let’s learn that. Because as we’ve learned, it is painful at times. Real painful.”

Brown has been trending toward a five-spot commitment to Noel, whose earlier audition at power forward had, at best, lukewarm results. In recent weeks, Okafor has defended more forwards, though rarely with staggering expertise.

“We’ve tinkered a little with it in the first two-thirds of the season, but never really anointed him and stamped off on him as a four man like I am now,” Brown said. “And even to the point where we have to go in end-game situations, I hope that I stick with what I just said.”

Never once in practice he didn't think, "Let's try this". And switch their defensive assignments around.

Now they gonna have 2 other bigs that play the same position or they won't know what to do with.

don't think I ever called him "a defensive stalwart" but he's already a good rim protector and will only get better on D. jah is trash on D and will stay trash.

and LOL @ getting lin'd. ain't nobody trying to move kristaps. what jah needs to do is not get traded for a bag of dildos this off-season though, because they were already looking to ship his ass out of town at the deadline.

Nah. I see what you did there. Your guy will definitely get better, but ours "clearly" won't. Zinger is fading down the stretch. Like his team. We're still terrible, but okafor is doing what he does best more efficiently since we added a journeyman PG. Improving in his rookie season. Not some projection, but actual verifiable statistical improvement now.

He needs to work on D. Duh. But you keep selling a reb/blk a game too hard.

first of all, get it straight: I didn't say "clearly", I said "is trash on D and will stay trash"... although that *is* pretty clear, I suppose. and LOL @ fading down the stretch: 15/6, 2blk, .518 TS% for February vs 14/7, 2blk, .522 TS% on the season - my god, I hardly recognize him on the court anymore!

>He needs to work on D. Duh. But you keep selling a reb/blk a

your coach acknowledged his defense is trash and your team is already looking to shop him. I don't have to sell this and you know it, 'cause this kind of shit here sells itself.

difference in TS% is the same.

edit: actually he was listing Prozingis' TS% for February; he's at .522 for the season, so that would make it the same difference between Wes and Jeff Green. so is Jeff's TS% much worse than Wes too?
