I used to listen to SVP and Russillo and it was a great sports talk show. It was an exception to the genre because it was smart and authentically funny, the anti-Mike and Mike if you will.
Since SVP left, Russillo is now paired with Kannell. Kannell is a dim idiot with no inspired insight and your typical chuckling ESPN-flavored sense of humor. He's been trained to be exactly what they want him to be, a guy who they can plug in to any program who won't break from the norm or ruffle any feathers.
Well I'm guessing that someone got to him and said something like "dude, say SOMETHING. Have SOME kind of edge" and this is what he came up with. Dude doubled down with the "liberal media" bit, even though it was lost on him that he is part of the media, and now he's going to have to apologize like a buffoon and will never say anything remotely unique again.
I actually kind of get the sentiment, but my goodness is there a million better ways to come at this in a more articulate way.

he keeps arguing that it hasn't been proven that playing football automatically results in developing CTE, but that's not what the Omalu article or others are saying. I honestly don't know if he's doing that on purpose to keep the argument going or if he's really not bright enough to understand the distinction.
and now he's complaining about being pigeonholed by his 'liberal media' comment & saying it's being taken out of context. meanwhile he doubled-down on the liberal media comment the day after making it, and to top it off dude is a Trump supporter. just dumb all around.
