Jeff Fisher wants to get back into the NFL next year, could be eyeing three jobs if they open: Cleveland, Indy and Chicago. Fisher buyout from the Rams was $16M.

The Bears won't hire him, despite the connection to the 85 team, and I don't really want them to…but man, at this point, I'd be happy to see 8-8 again before I die.

I should find that post from when we fired Lovie after he went 10-6 and neighbors was on here applauding.

Since then, the worst team in the league besides Cleveland.

Jeff mediocre as hell, but you can do worse!

Since 1999 he's only won 2 playoff games (zero games without McNair), finished in last place at least half his years with the Rams despite the AFCW being weak at the time, LA Rams become literal Super Bowl contenders a *year* after firing him, riding a 2nd year QB that Fisher couldn't bring himself to start until his hand was forced.

Fisher has been trash for a while now.

He is a thoroughly mediocre coach. When you are a TERRIBLE coach in the NFL you not coaching for that long.

>Since 1999 he's only won 2 playoff games (zero games without
>McNair),

Okay, that's not inconsistent with mediocrity. Especially considering the rosters we are talking about.

finished in last place at least half his years with
>the Rams despite the AFCW being weak at the time

The AFCW that had Harbaugh's Niners, Carroll's Seahawks and the Cardinals.

LA Rams
>become literal Super Bowl contenders a *year* after firing
>him, riding a 2nd year QB that Fisher couldn't bring himself
>to start until his hand was forced.

He didn't start Goff for good reason. And it seems to have been warranted. Fisher always had that D playing well, his offense was a mess. McVay obviously changed that.

That's tautological. It is especially misleading when talking about someone who enshrined themselves in the old white boys network, which is marked by keeping your job even when you suck at it.

If in your entire 5-year tenure you never even finish .500 *once* (let alone make the playoffs once), you are literally and figuratively below mediocre.

>
>>Since 1999 he's only won 2 playoff games (zero games without

mediocre is making the playoffs occasionally, winning a game here or there. If you finish sub-500 *every* year for 7 years, you are no longer mediocre.

The Seahawks were always good, the 9ers spent his final three years being trash. The Cardinals were mediocre, which placed them squarely ahead of his Rams.

correlation is not causation

if you want to hire him to be your DC, go for it.

he hasn't been a mediocre head coach in 8 years.

Agree to disagree over what we each define as mediocre in this field.

He is not a good head coach, we can agree on that.

... and not currently working as a HC.

Dungy

Pep Hamilton - hasn't coached but his name is rising

Leslie Frazier

Teryl Austin - is the DC for the Lions. Don't know anything about his, but to be named DC, he has to be about something.

Marquand Manuel - same as Austin

Harold Goodwin - same as Austin and Manuel

and...

Denzel Washington - coached a team to a championship, in a lower league in Alabama, with a fierce defense.

at, least if you ask him. What a gaping, shit-filled asshole.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21852646/jeff-fisher-says-left-los-angeles-rams-pretty-good-shape
The highlights:

"I'm a huge fan of the Ram players," Fisher told The Midday 180 on Friday. "They're basically -- I don't want to say my players, but I had a lot to do with that roster. Left them in pretty good shape. And Sean, as he's proven in this very short period of time, is an outstanding young coach. And he's got the offense rolling, which they needed."

"We knew that was coming," Fisher said. "... That's why we traded up with you guys here to get him, because we knew he had that kind of potential. We felt like both the quarterbacks had a chance to be franchise quarterbacks. We were right. Philly got theirs , and the Rams got theirs."

"My perspective's different because I went through it, and I know exactly what I went through," he said. "I get a kick out of people who , 'Oh, you just tied Dan Reeves for the most losses in the history of the National Football League.' Well I'm a few wins away from being in the top 10. So, where do you want to emphasize? What's your point? Two franchises, five different cities, six different stadiums. Not an easy thing to do.

so it's the same roster (mostly, according to him)...and a rookie HC has already won more games in his first year than Fisher could manage in any of his five seasons.

Fisher is one of those coaches that thinks he is beyond reproach. anything negative that happened in his career was somebody else's fault.

Boy was I wrong.

He was terrible. He is terrible.

This shit makes me hate him even more. The Rams have had talented players on their roster for years now and they have underachieved until now.

McVay took this offense from the bottom to the top. Goff and Gurley are both showing this year how shitty a coach Fisher was for this team.

Fuck Jeff Fisher. And McGinnis. And Greg Williams. And on and on.

McVay is the best thing that could have happened to the Rams.
