"Good news: Jahlil Okafor finally won. Bad news: it was a street fight."

Might as well be the one who posts it.

Some people learn the hard way not to fuck with the crew of a 7 footer from Chicago.

No arrests or anything. He'll be suspended tho, obviously.

NBA'S JAHLIL OKAFOR STREET FIGHT ... KO's Man In Boston

NBA superstar Jahlil Okafor -- the #3 pick in the 2015 draft -- punched a guy in the face HARD outside of a Boston bar last night ... and TMZ Sports has the insane footage.
It all went down after Okafor and the 76ers lost to the Boston Celtics -- Jahlil and some friends went out on the town ... and ended up in an altercation in front of Storyville Boston nightclub.
19-year-old Okafor was screaming at the other man, "We got money you broke ass n**ga."
A scuffle ensues -- people tried to hold Okafor back -- but then he escapes and swings wildly at another man ... connecting ... and sending him flying to the ground.
In the melee, Okafor tumbles to the ground and a man in a green jacket tries to punch the 6'11" superstar in the back of the head.
We're told everyone got up and fled the scene and no arrests were made.
We're told the altercation began because one of the men in the other group yelled at Jahlil, "The 76ers suck."
We spoke with a rep for Jahlil who tells us ... Okafor says he was being heckled from the moment he left the club and felt threatened because people swarmed him on the street.
He says he was with a teammate -- who he wouldn't name -- and says someone got physical with the teammate ... so Jahlil did what he felt he needed to do to protect himself and his friend.
They immediately left after the incident.

19 years old, never lost like this in his entire life. No end in sight this season either. It's got to take its toll.

He obviously needs to keep his cool in public if he's going to be a superstar. He's never been a lose-his-temper kind of guy in the past, so I'm hopeful this is just an anomaly and he learns from this. Even if somebody's getting physical with your boy, you *can't* engage-- people are always going to try to fuck with a star in public.

Hope he learns from his mistakes.

Like your drunk ass didn't act out at 19.

Yes, he's a professional athlete and held to a different standard. But fuck. He's 19. I was a complete fucking idiot at 19 and I'm sure most of you were as well.

Doesn't help that he's playing for a depressing franchise in a depressing city.

I would put money on him not acting out again for the duration of his pro career.

Ya'll dudes making excuses for him only gives credence to the league wanting to raise the nba minimum to 20 years. Surely this isn't the reason why the nba wants to do it, but yall points oF view make it seem like nba life is too much for a 19 year old.

from he is a bad person.

he did a bad thing. this particular bad thing is not indicative of being a bad person, quite possibly indicative of anger, shame, and/or immaturity. none of which are particularly worrisome for a 19 year old unless they get repeated.

REVERED by the majority of folks on OKP and elsewhere. Given that he's still starting fights in his mid 30s, you know damn well he was fighting people off the field in his 20s (let alone at age 19) too.

It was a boneheaded decision. No doubt about that. But folks are going way too hard and making it way more serious than it needs to be. I'm sure he will move on and learn from the incident.

If UNC had done some shit like PSU did, you would have been 100000x more extra about it. No one here (besides shells, long, and your 3 aliases) would disagree

Yep we lost. Big deal. Didn't watch that game either.

man, look...i don't care. you reacted the way you reacted. you posted what you posted.

you could. makes me no difference. hopefully it doesn't look like DLo blew out his ACL and some dickhead catches you in a bad mood and parties on the possibility, prompting you to wanna punch him his fucking face. because that's what actually happened. celery went too far, i got mad and said i need to leave...so i did. kyrie had two horrible losing seasons before that one (isiah got fired, rose won MVP, i've had bigger Ls), so it wasn't like i couldn't withstand it. i had no problem admitted why i left for 6 months and damn sure didn't have a problem admitting why i came back.

ANYWAY...don't nobody wanna play with russell like that, so that's a moot point.

y'all lost, BTW.

People always do this and think anytime you try to provide reasoning you are excusing someone.

An excuse is a reason something is ok. Sorry I'm late, there was an accident and the highway was shut down- Excuse

I murdered my wife because she cheated on me - Not an excuse, it's just the reason something happened.

There's not an excuse to not get here, people are speculating on his mental state, they are not saying it's ok because of it. Nobody is making an excuse, they are analyzing.

If Philly actually has all of this great talent but they refuse to nurture them correctly

How is he not supposed to be frustrated when he's been placed in the worst situation in the league with no light at the end of the tunnel?

What if the Sixers have three rookie of the year winners in a row but no progression to show for it? They're fucking 0-16 this year and we're in year three of the Hinkie project!!

I get it, they want to draft a superstar and want to tank to do so, but they're squandering the talent they have in order to do so. They're killing their lottery talent at the expense of a 25% of getting Ben Simmons

When does this whole thing turn around? When do the Sixers actually try to be a winning team? You know that Noel is due for an extension this offseason, right?

And you are being naive if you think athletes don't catch verbal harrasment on some sort of regular basis. I've witnessed it. It's s dick thing to do imo, especially if you are older than the person you are harrassing, but usually the best thing to do when dealing with immature dicks is too ignore them and or not take it too seriously

Cool. And in trying to not be a "lame", a million things could have gone an awful lot worse. This is nothing to make a big deal out of but this notion that he did what he was "supposed" to do is ridiculous.

Further, Oak and Barkley are nobody to emulate in terms of how they'd handle confrontational situations. I don't fault him here but he's an easy target for those looking for a little notoriety or a pay day and he'd be a fool to use the two Chucks as a template for how handle these situations.

Thank god you're not in charge of mentoring this kid with that kind of advice.

At a Philadelphia club in October, sources said that Okafor exchanged words with a heckler while with teammates. As he and his teammates left the club, a source said, the heckler pointed a gun to Okafor's head outside the establishment.

A source said the incident was witnessed by federal officers, but there is no known official report of the incident. Okafor did not want to speak about the situation.

MEMPHIS – On the court, Jahlil Okafor had arguably the best start of any of Eastern Conference rookie.

However, his experiences off the court have been far from stellar.

Four sources independently comfirmed to the The Inquirer the 76ers center was pulled over on the Ben Franklin Bridge around three weeks ago for 108 miles-per-hour. Anything over 40MPH is considered reckless driving.

This news come days after it was revealed that Okafor had been involved with two altercations while leaving nightclubs.

The 6-foot-11, 265-pounder had a gun pointed at his head on Oct. 4 near Second and Walnuts street in Philadelphia. Then there was Thursday early morning’s fight outside of Storyville Nightclub in south Boston hours after Wednesday night’s loss to the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.

Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/sixers/Okafor-stopped-for-going-108-MPH-over-bridge.html#pPrLMXUTo5aqKqWA.99

Thiis happened 3 weeks ago but its highlighting a series a poor decisions

to associate with fuckery off the court, but CHOSE Cuz.

Because you'd rather play into a misrepresented image of Cuz.

Could've said Al Horford, Reggie Evans, Anthony Davis, Tahj Gibson, Marc Gasol, Mike Muscala.... You could've used anybody who also doesn't fight in the streets.

like normal, put your tampon back in.

Cuz has a "thug" image to some even though he's never had any off the court trouble that I know of.

Okafor is the supposedly squeaky clean Duke "character" guy who is apparently doing a lot of "thuggish" shit off the court.

YOU SAID: "hes making Cuz look like Wally Cleaver"

Thus, you are implying Demarcus Cousins has done bad things in the public eye to where Jahlil Okafor's behavior is making him look like a harmless white child character from a 50's television show.

For example: If I saw a man washing his car in a rain storm, I'd stop him and say, "What are you doing? You're making The Truth look like a member of Mensa."

Then he'd look at me and say, "Who's The Truth?".

And I'd say, "An idiot homophobe from a Message Board I spend too much time on. But the point is, you shouldn't wash your car during a rain storm."

'kid'

Kids don't have any business in the nba imo. If we are going to refer and treat them like kids, raise the age limit. Nobody wants that.

Most of them just get right in because of who they are.

No clue why this particular bouncer asked to see ID and why Jah felt compelled to give it a go. I wasn't there. But this happens with underage NCAA and NBA players all the time. Because it happens to underage "people"-- if you don't want to say kid-- all the time.

There was a story on Reddit about Yogi Ferrell getting busted for trying a fake ID in Bloomington. I'm sure there are all sorts of similar stories out there.

And if we don't want to say "kid," then what should we say? 19-20 year olds tend to make way worse decisions than 26-27 year olds. What terminology would be deemed appropriate to accentuate the age difference?

about to graduate as kids. Its demeaning and in this context, its away of absolving someone of responsibility or blame. What do you expect he's just a kid???

What do you expect, he's just a young adult??? nope, sounds dumb.

Shits disgusting.

that came out in recent days than the fake id, so lets not act like the ID is what all the fuss is about.

Calling someone a kid in a professional/work environment is an insult. I prefer the term young man personally.

HS, college, and now.

The fight outside the club, and the reported incident involving the gun. Both recent.

Driving too fast and a fake ID? Don't care. Any 19-year-old, especially ones with money, has tried it. It's poor judgment, but it's not a reflection of his character or his future career or anything like that.

But people want to party on him, because he's a Dukie or a Sixer or a champion or a player with All-Star potential or whatever the reason, so I might as well just not return to this post. No point. I'll just get mad, cuz he's always been a model citizen his whole life up to date, and I see no reason to think these aren't isolated mistakes.

The other incidents wouldn't even have hit the news radar if it wasn't for the above. In fact, the gun incident didn't hit the news radar until the fight video.

who has said any of that in reference to the speeding or id?

I'm not sure if you're here for petty lulz, for moral outrage about the dangers of his lifestyle, or for well-wishing to a kid who's never made mistakes in his life until very recently. It seems to change depending which direction the wind blows.

I like the kid. He made a *couple* of mistakes. I think it's impossible to remove his age or the context of his situation from the fact that he's *never* made mistakes until now. And I think he'll be fine.

I'm now leaving the post.

It isn't. he should have learned his lesson when the gun came out. He didn't. Regardless of his first 18 years of life, he has a problem right now. How you get a gun pointed at your head and its not an eye opener for him to change some behaviors is mind boggling.

Alot of people were downplaying this from jump bc of his age. 19 year old with a career and a bright future should know better....sorry.

Basketball wise, I wouldn't mind if he sucked. I'm not rooting for him to get caught up in something that he can't recover from though.
