"Peyton Manning BENCHED by Kubiak!!!"

He breaks the all time passing record then shits the bed.

Denver has 57 total yards.

4 INT's...

just retire dude... it's over.

****************
TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

you got all the records man.

you got a ring.

you're considered a top 10 qb of all-time.

yes, you will have the playoffs, but you're NOT making the Super Bowl.

just pass the torch. why harm your legacy any further.

it's okay to say "i just don't have it anymore." Father Time is undefeated.

People said Jordan harmed his legacy but did he really?

People said Joe Montana would harm his legacy going to KC but did he really?

Even if he blows it in the playoffs again it will just keep the legacy most people have about him anyway. All time great who couldn't get it done in the playoffs most times.

The only thin he could actually do that would change the narrative of his career is win the superbowl this year.

What you hear when I use MJ as an analogy is oh this must be about if someone is the best ever or not.

But what my analogy really is saying is when you take someone who should just retire and quit playing and they keep playing on a team you don't associate with them has it really hurt their legacy?

There are plenty of examples, I used Joe Montana, I used that one because it's a more famous one. I could also have used Jerry Rice or numerous others. In the end the analogy still makes sense that none of these people really hurt their legacy other than very short term thinking at that moment.

MJ averaged 20 ppg in his last year with the Wiz. Peyton is way worse than that at this point.

They weren't really stacked as far as defensive talent the years Pey Pey was ballin, they wanted to air it out that year and did but a lot of teams put up numbers on them, including the seahawks who had no business doing so.

This whole experience is on Elway, who caught lightning with Pey pey didnt have his defensive draft picks lined up to capitalize.

NOW, THIS YEAR he has his defense ready and Pey is spent. It's over and its sad to watch.

Well, Peyton had 2 seasons. Team wasn't a contender without him, they got him and made a SB one year and went deep in offs the next.

LOL @ a failure, like they would have been better off getting some other FA or rolling with Tebow?

People can't be copping pleas about how hard it is to win 2 rings in quarter century of HOF quarterback play (in their primes!), then air Peyton out for failing to get one in 2 years at the end of his career.

2012: Pey Pey throws a CRUCIAL interception in the Ravens game, they end up losing at home. Failure.

2013: Pey Pey beat his nemesis Tom but got his pants pulled down in front of millions. Failure.

2014: Pey Pey scores 13 against the Colts. Failure.

And now this seasons is a failure.

I hope this is the same logic we are going to use for Rick-Averse-Rodgers. It's been rings or bust few years running for him, and he is in his fucking prime.

What in the world are you talking about?

Denver picking up Peyton was the right move, and although they didn't get a ring, the Peyton era was not a "failure".

They saw their window and took the best shot they could out of their available options, which were sign some other free agent, draft a QB or roll with the previous QB who happened to be Tebow.

Christ...what is wrong with you people? The QB coulda been anyone, didn't have to be Tebow, point is they made the right choice and had a great run.

Ehhh, I dunno, Favre in his prime sure. Montana, Young, Brady, Elway I will say yes. Marino is basically the previous generation's Manning, only without a Super Bowl. Why not throw Warren Moon on the list while you're at it? Nah, I don't think I'd take either or Brees or Fouts. Not Aikman either. Rodgers is an interesting one, we'll see.

Guys from further back are harder to evaluate but you'd have to think guys like Unitas and Starr would be on the list.

It's up to the coach to make that decision...doesn't matter if you have an all-time QB or not, the coach has to be able to wade through the BS and make the determination.

Tom Brady was once benched for Bryan Hoyer.

While still healthy, in a losing effort against the eventual champion Aints. Was there a discussion?

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

a top five all-time quarterback cast aside by media, coaches and fans for somebody named Brock.

comes back late in the season to earn his job back and help Broncos clinch homefield, outplays his career nemesis in the AFC Championship (again) and then emotionally inspires his defense to a stunning upset in the Superbowl before riding off into the sunset.

four Superbowls with four different coaches and the *first* starting QB to win a ring with two different teams. we are witnesses!

Manning's 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in the AFC championship were key to victory. much better than completing less than 50 percent of your passes and throwing a pair of picks.

also thanks to Manning, Jim Caldwell got a second chance to fuck time management up with Detroit, John Fox was given the keys to the Chicago abyss and Coach Peyton literally brought Gary Kubiak back to life -- poor Kubz was having strokes during games in Houston.
