He hit her. She tried to flee. Car was swerving. They
got pulled over. Chick said he pushed her head into

Ray Rice was a stand up citizen until that incident.

Manziel has always been a dipshit.

And Manziel just put his hands on a woman.

Trade him by the end of the season. Johnny is not ready to lead a franchise. Hope he gets Chris Brown'd by the media. If this was RG3, Cam, Russell, Tyrod, EJ, Mike, and every other black QB he'd be out of the league right now.

Well I certainly can't have much more of an agenda behind this kinda dude. And Russell already got his ring (should have 2 -- cheaters). So anything else there is gravy.

All I hope is that from this point, dude focuses on not turning into a 30 for 30 subject.

Damn, Browns, might want to have to look into rescuing Robert from the Racists.

Johnny is clearly not ready to start in the NFL and needs to spend time in rehab. NEVER FORGET that the owner forced the football people to pass on a proven commodity known as Teddy Bridgewater for a college football Texas A&M legend.

I'm hoping once he NFL fully investigates the incident, it'll get more coverage. With the way they bungled the Ray Rice incident, I'm hoping the league itself won't willingly sweep this under the rug.

If the racial bias you're referring to holds true, that'll be pretty sad on many levels. Both the league and the Browns, assuming neither party will discipline him, will be enabling this dude's destructive behavior.

I'm willing to wait for more news from the league itself to see how this will shake out though.

No, they could have REPORTED it as an abuse situation FROM
RIP. They would have done that if he was black.

ESPN coddled him, was talking about the Browns depth chart,
and not women being allegedly abused.

White people are not fond of blacks. They will make black
people the face of everything they dislike about the galaxy.

he hit her?...and if that's the case, she's now backtracking on that...and if she's not cooperating then how can the NFL proceed w/an investigation

Is there a video/pictures of visible bruises? Because we all know that's what inevitably doomed Rice because had there not been a video of him knocking his wife out he'd still be in the league

I'm not saying either way but I wouldn't be so quick to label him an "abuser" based on little to no evidence

Lets just remember the allegations leveled at Marshawn Lynch a few months back that were eventually dropped because they turned out to be a false...

The girl in the Lynch case was sociopathic liar who had/has
never met Marshawn Lynch, and said he was a place where
he was not. Lynch had no relationship with her at all,
never met the woman, at all.

Johnny Manziel was inebriated and explosively arguing with
his girlfriend while driving, and she SAID he pushed her head
into the window.

That you equate the two is exactly what I mean about racism:

Manziel's girlfriend saying that he put his hands on her is
the same as a woman that Lynch doesn't know or has never met
saying that he assaulted her

>he hit her?...and if that's the case, she's now backtracking
>on that...and if she's not cooperating then how can the NFL
>proceed w/an investigation

I'm talking about the media.

And the NFL can do their own investigation. If she said
that he pushed her head into a window, that was a recorded
statement. It's somewhere on record. It's accessible.

this Manziel story) immediately leaped to the conclusion that Lynch was guilty w/o knowing what really happenend

They BOTH had been drinking and it was reported that she was trying to jump out of the car while he was driving and (also corroborated by *her*) he was trying to prevent her from doing so by pulling on her arm...

Again, it wasn't a comparison and for the record there are other instances where a woman wasn't being truthful abt alleging physical abuse by her boyfriend/husband...its rare which is why we usually believe the women in those situations but sometimes that's not the case

I personally have been in situations where just restraining a woman from attacking you (or someone else) will cause them in the heat of the moment to say you hit them...

Ok, wtf can they do? How much investigating can the media do if she isn't cooperating? Who else can they talk with besides the two ppl in the car to find out what occurred?

Ok, but she's now saying that didn't happen...so what else can the league do??? Suspend him anyway? Yeah that's fair

Nah in Mayweather's case there was a 3rd party who witnessed him beating the shit out of his son's mother...and that was the son himself who said Floyd even threatened him if he called the police

If Manziel slammed her head into the window, perhaps there's a bruise or a mark

And the police officer on the scene didn't feel like the situation was that serious or that she was at risk because he allowed them to leave together

Oh but that's that white privilege

No, that's not blaming her, tonto - that was a FACT they both were drinking

The only thing you're basing the alleged abuse on is her statement to the police that she's no longer standing by...and as I said the police officer allowed them to leave together so he obviously didn't feel she was in a perilous situation...

they can roll a lot of things under their personal conduct policy. you don't need charges brought.

and simply from an alcohol standpoint, josh gordon was in the substance abuse program in the NFL and tested positive for alcohol and was suspended for a year. absolutely no reason why the NFL couldn't invoke punishments against manziel for this incident.

Manziel isn't in the league's substance abuse program as far as I know so he can't be punished under the same rules as Gordon who has violated the substance abuse more than once

So what rule exacy could Manziel be punished under because I don't know what's the infraction to punish him for

police called, charges dropped, suspended for six and knocked down to four.

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/new-york-jets-quincy-enunwa-suspended-for-violating-personal-conduct-policy-101915

Per the new policy:

» A baseline suspension of six games without pay for violations involving assault, battery, domestic violence, dating violence, child abuse, other forms of family violence, or sexual assault, with consideration given to possible mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

But even if your conduct does not result in a criminal conviction, if the league finds that you have engaged in conduct , you will be subject to discipline."

but fair treatment by the NFL/media/police towards players is only one problem. the other is the very common disregard & victim-blaming that occurs in these cases (e.g., references to manziel's girlfriend "slurred speech" in these articles, or the absolute horror-show of how patrick kane's case is being handled).

the league because he *admitted* to having some culpability and expressed remorse for his role in the matter which allowed his suspension to be reduced to 4 gms instead of 6

In other words, he owned to causing physical harm to his girlfriend

Manziel has denied putting his hands on his girlfriend other grabbing her wrist

So these two cases aren't the same

he was suspended because of what he did. he got it knocked down from 6 to 4 games because of his "complete cooperation".

also, you chose to completely overlook the fact that no criminal charges or conviction need to occur for someone to violate the personal conduct policy.

now, a player can fight suspensions and possibly claim that lack of charges is reason to get suspensions reduced, but you came in here saying it's not fair and the NFL can't do that, when they clearly can.

Rather than talk about Johnny's privilege affecting the details of the crime.

That being said, I get that while it isn't quite fair for a man or woman to endure the harshness of an allegation in the public sphere of being an abuser. The reason why society has laws is to guide the public when a reaction based on hurt might take away from a person's right to share their story.

But in general people who are victims of domestic violence are not supported enough. There's simply no way to bring up abuse without polarizing everyone involved. I wish there was a way to ignore Johnny and the media would offer the victim a generous sense of support as she and other victims face their attacker. These situations ought to be dealt with nuance but the reality is that the pathology of abuse dictates that more attention be given to the victim.

she has said she's not.

it's not uncommon for complainants in domestic violence cases to claim they're not victims. it's not uncommon for ppl to call police and claim they've been battered even when no battery occurred. false domestic violence claims seem more common than false rape claims. i say that having been exposed to several domestic violence cases where that turned out to be true - the complainant lied. often it's happened b/c the complainant was mad at the defendant and called police on some revenge shit. or they've exaggerated the details of a fight. or they've been the aggressor but claimed the defendant was the aggressor. it's all a mess.

Johnny Manziel and Girlfriend Questioned and Released by Police after Argument Turns Physical

BY ADAM CARLSON AND NAJA RAYNE

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, were questioned by Ohio police Monday night after witnesses reported an argument between them that appeared to turn physical, with Manziel restraining Crowley as she attempted to exit the vehicle, according to a police report obtained by Deadspin, TMZ and newsnet5.

Both Manziel and Crowley were released and no charges were filed, following a roughly 25-minute investigation by Avon police, according to the report.

"Based upon the statements of Mr. Manziel and Ms. Crowley, their relationship status, the lack of physical evidence, with the exception to Ms. Crowley’s left wrist, Ms. Crowley’s level of intoxication, the inconsistencies of Ms. Crowley’s statements ranging from whether Mr. Manziel was physically abusive towards her or not, and neither party wishing to pursue charges, no arrest was made," according to the report.

ADVERTISING

Manziel told officers at the scene that he and Crowley were returning from Cleveland, where they had been drinking earlier that day, and had begun to argue, according to the report – Manziel said he had wanted to invite a friend along to see a movie in the city, upsetting Crowley, and on the ride back she "accused him of 'driving bad,' " and then threw his wallet out of the window.

Manziel, 22, told police that Crowley, 23, tried to leave the car after he had parked it to look for his wallet, and that he tried to "to grab her arm to keep her from 'riding' out of the car," according to the report.

Asked if he had struck, punched or pulled the hair of Crowley, Manziel said, "NO," according to the report.

In her interview at the scene, Crowley confirmed having thrown Manziel's wallet out of the car window because she said Manziel would not give her back her cell phone, which she wanted "so that she could call her parents for help," according to the report.

Asked to clarify by police, she said she wanted to get back to Texas, where she is a rising college senior, according to the report.

Both Manziel and Crowley confirmed they had been living together for two months.

Though she told police Manziel "was fine," when asked if she was fearful of him or if she thought he could do her physical harm, she also told police at the scene that he pushed her head against the car window and hit her "a couple times" in the car, according to the report.

Crowley "was adamant that she did not want to pursue charges ... She kept stating that she just wanted her phone and to return to Texas," according to the report.

Crowley appeared intoxicated at the scene, according to the report, including having slurred speech and difficulty focusing on the police questions.

Police said there was the "slight" smell of alcohol on Manziel's breath but he exhibited no other signs of intoxication, according to the report.

Officers observed "a small fresh abrasion" on Crowley's left arm, on the top of her wrist, which "appeared to be a friction burn with no blood seen," according to the report. Officers observed no other signs of injury.

Police also spoke with two witnesses, Jackie Clark and Lauren Clarke, who made the two separate 911 calls, according to the report.

Clarke said she saw Manziel pulling on Crowley's wrist as Crowley tried to leave the parked car, according to the report.

Clark said she saw Manziel hold Crowley back from exiting the car while it was still in motion, as it was slowing and apparently preparing to stop, according to the report.

Clark said it appeared his "arm and elbow were around" Crowley's neck, "pulling her inside the car," according to the report.

Clark told police she wasn't sure if what she saw was aggressive or an attempt to keep Crowley inside the moving vehicle, according to the report.

At one point during the interviews, fellow Browns player Paul Kruger drove up and attempted to speak with Manziel, according to the report. Crowley "became more upset," according to the report, and said, "He doesn't need to be here!"

Officers asked Kruger to return to his vehicle, which he did, according to the report.

At a later point in the investigation, according to the report, Crowley told police, "I didn't do s--- and f--- this!"

While walking on the side of the road, she said, "I didn't do anything wrong and my dad's a lawyer," according to the report.

Police told her to stay in the patrol vehicle or she would be arrested for disorderly conduct, according to the report.

At the end of the investigation, Crowley declined a ride from police to another location, was told she could not walk away because she was too intoxicated and then said she was okay leaving with Manziel and they drove away, according to the report.

Manziel took to Twitter Friday to explain the situation to fans.

"Colleen and I got into a dumb public argument on the way home Monday afternoon. It probably looked more interesting than it was and I know I would stop and check if I saw a couple arguing on the side of the road," he wrote.

"It was embarrassing but not serious and when we talked to the police and they realized everything was alright and I was sober, we went home together and everything was fine."

Crowley released her own statement on Instagram Friday, with the caption, "Before things get blown out of proportion."

In a statement to PEOPLE, Browns' general manager Ray Farmer said, "We were aware of the situation. It is a matter that we take seriously and have expressed our concerns to Johnny directly.

"Those conversations will remain private and we will refrain from further comment at this time."

In April, Manziel was released from rehab after more than two months of unspecified treatment, though the facility "specializes in drug and alcohol rehabilitation," according to ESPN.

According to ESPN, the NFL is also expected to review the Monday incident to determine if discipline is necessary.

Manziel's status is "unchanged" for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, a team spokesman tells PEOPLE.

i regularly work on cases where police report that a complainant said one thing but the complainant tells me they never made statements the police attributed to them.

this is especially true in domestic violence cases.

fuck you.

post is the first time we've heard abt this?????

Secondly, the issue ISN't abt this not getting covered (which is a lie) by the media because I've seen this story on several news stations, including hardline news stations, THE ISSUE IS YOU IMMEDIATELY SAYING HE WAS GUILTY w/o knowing the full details

Your post title said he was an ABUSER...and leaping to that conclusion is equally just as dangerous and reckless as those who are indifferent to domestic abuse

If you read what the police said (which I KNOW YOU DIDN'T) stemming from their 25 min. investigation of Manziel and his girlfriend then its not difficult to see why this shouldn't be anymore than a one day news story...unless some incriminating evidence surfaces (like a video)...but as of now there's not much to go on from a woman who the police said was still intoxicated during the interview, telling inconsistent stories, and whose speech was slurred. There was no physical evidence of ang type of abuse other than a mark on her wrist which Manziel admitted because he was trying to prevent her from jumping out of a moving vehicle.

You tried to turn this into an issue of racism/media racial bias and it backfired miserably

Not saying there's no blatant double standards, but if the footage somehow came out (i donno... OnStar?), there would be more outrage.

You KNOW the kneejerk reaction to seeing a white woman hit vs. seeing a black woman hit would be ASTRONOMICAL in the media.

It appears the NFL is indeed investigating this locally in Cleveland. One link here with some info: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/10/28/nfl-investigators-spoke-to-police-about-johnny-manziel-incident/

It appears the Browns can't do anything disciplinary to Manziel until the NFL acts according to info in this link here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13985879/cleveland-browns-suspend-johnny-manziel-according-gm-ray-farmer.

That doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess we shall so what goes down.

"The Browns' only option, under the NFL's rules, was to make Manziel inactive for this past Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams, Farmer said. Only the NFL has the authority to discipline Manziel, because the league investigates potential personal conduct policy violations."

Ok, understandable

"Farmer said the Browns chose not to deactivate Manziel based on the information they had, deciding instead to inform the NFL, which began its own investigation."

Huh? "Our hands are tied. We can only deactivate him... which we chose not to do."

Maybe the whole story is bullshit and they already know that, but it's just too much of a hot-button issue for the NFL to justify doing nothing when that's specifically the image the NFL is trying to fight. And of all months, this happens in October, the "We swear we care about women" month. He's still gonna get paid and you're still gonna be the Browns on Monday. Why not deactivate him if only to save yourself from a PR nightmare?

The wonderful thing for Manziel, the Browns, and perhaps the NFL is that NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS.

Truly blows my mind. And it's not as if Manziel is some no name player that people don't know about outside of this incident.

If the narrative were different and talking heads were discussing this, perhaps the Browns would try to save face like you mentioned in the prior message.

It's pretty sad that even after the disaster that was the Ray Rice incident teams still aren't being proactive about this stuff.

Manziel unlikely to face discipline for roadside incident
By Marc Sessler

Johnny Manziel appears to be in the clear.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Cleveland Browns quarterback is not expected to be disciplined for his role in a roadside incident earlier this month, according to sources informed of the situation. Manziel met with an NFL investigator on Wednesday in regard to the incident that involved his girlfriend on Oct. 12.

Johnny also took first-team reps during Wednesday's practice and is expected to do the same on Thursday in place of veteran starter Josh McCown, who continues to nurse the shoulder he injured in Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Browns coach Mike Pettine told reporters that McCown would practice Thursday on a limited basis. In his place last Sunday, Manziel went 4-for-5 passing against the Rams, his first action since throwing for 172 yards and two scores in a Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Play-caller John DeFilippo said Thursday that he isn't overly concerned about McCown missing snaps during the week, saying that the 36-year-old "has had most of the first-team reps since the start of camp," per the Plain Dealer. McCown's status for Sunday's home tilt against the red-hot Cardinals will boil down to where he is on the pain scale 48 hours from now.

My memory could be off, but 1) the media discussed Ben's problems and allegations at the time and more importantly 2) the NFL actually took action against him.

What in the fuck is going on with this Manziel situation?

So it was a little more difficult to sweep under

Helps that this is Johnny's girlfriend who, like many
young battered women, aren't too willing to air out
their boyfriend. The only time when she was honest was
when the cops got there and she was still hot and upset,
and told them what actually happened. She's probably not
cooperative now.

There's a player on the Jets that got suspended 4 games for something he allegedly did IN COLLEGE

And not to downplay any sort of domestic abuse, because it's terrible. But even if the woman doesn't press charges the league should still suspend, because that was the precedent that was sent.

Ray Rice's wife DIDN'T press charges and he got suspended (rightfully so)

So why doesn't Manziel face ANY discipline?

Like you said...rhymes with prism

By the time I come home from the gym tonight, I'll get home in time to watch The Player.

According to the thread in GD, it was alleged that Wesley Snipes hit Halle Berry upside the head years ago. Never knew this was the case until reading that thread. Have to admit it'll feel weird watching that show with that knowledge.

To spin this response onto another tangent, I was watching a flick last weekend on Netflix with Sean Penn called The Gunman. Part of the flick called for Penn to punch a woman upside the head. Hard enough to the point she got knocked out and the punch actually drew blood. That was interesting to watch knowing dude's alleged history with Madonna.

based on an accusation

Johnny Manziel won't be disciplined for incident with girlfriend http://es.pn/1X5FIja

Johnny Manziel won't be disciplined for incident with girlfriend
NFL won't discipline Manziel for incident with girlfriend
Pat McManamon, ESPN Staff Writer
The NFL said Tuesday it will not discipline Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel for an October driving incident involving his girlfriend.

"Consistent with the procedures of the league's Personal Conduct Policy, we have examined the available evidence regarding the recent incident involving Johnny Manziel," the league said in a statement. "Our investigation included a thorough review of information from law enforcement and our own interviews with multiple individuals, including the two involved in the incident. Based on the information gathered, we have concluded that there is an insufficient basis on which to take disciplinary action. In all cases of this nature, our concern under the Personal Conduct Policy goes well beyond the issue of discipline, and we have made comprehensive professional resources available on a confidential basis."

No charges were filed against Manziel following the Oct. 12 incident, in which witnesses reported him driving dangerously on an interstate highway. His girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, said he had beaten her in the car and pushed her head against the glass, but she later declined to press charges.

After questioning both Manziel and Crowley, police in Avon, Ohio, allowed the couple to leave together to go to Manziel's home. Police smelled alcohol on Manziel's breath but did not give him a field sobriety test because he showed no signs of inebriation, police said.

The NFL's ruling on Johnny Manziel came the day the Browns named him starter for the rest of the season. Charles LeClaire/USA TODAY Sports
Manziel admitted to having a couple drinks downtown on the Browns' off-day. He had spent 10 weeks in a treatment facility in the offseason.

Callers to 911 on Oct. 12 reported Manziel driving at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of the highway. Witnesses told police Crowley had attempted to jump out of the moving car as it exited the highway. A 911 caller also said Manziel cut across several lanes of traffic to exit.

When news of the incident broke a few days later, the couple both posted on social media that they had an argument that got out of hand but were fine. On Nov. 5, Crowley posted on Instagram a video of Manziel holding a puppy in the passenger seat of a car as she drove.

Earlier Tuesday, Manziel was named the Browns' starter for the remainder of the season.

"I appreciate the NFL's diligence and discretion in reviewing a situation that was both personal and embarrassing," Manziel said in a statement through his friend and advisor, Brad Beckworth. "Colleen and I cooperated fully with the NFL's process and completely support their goals of making sure that every family under their umbrella is safer and more secure. I'm grateful that the review was so thorough and fair that there should be no question left in the public mind about what actually happened. I'm looking forward to focusing my energies on our start against the Ravens and bringing in a win for our fans in Cleveland."

Manziel has started the past two games for the Browns with Josh McCown out with injured ribs. The team lost 31-10 to the Cincinnati Bengals and 30-9 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in those games. Manziel threw for 168 yards and had a 75.5 rating against Cincinnati, but he rebounded to throw for 372 yards with a 95.8 rating against Pittsburgh.

The QB said it's important to show he can be trusted off the field.

"Coach Pettine came in and said he didn't want to micromanage me or any of the other guys on our time off, but at the same time, I let him know that I am not going to do anything that is going to be a distraction to this team or be an embarrassment to the organization," Manziel said. "That was the thing he stressed to me as well."

enough to charge (and label) someone as a domestic abuser....

there were NO bruises/marks on his girlfriend who said she was repeatedly hit (no bruises??? Really)...unlike Hardy's girlfriend, Ray Rice's then fiance, or Rhianna for fhat matter...and I can promise you that Manziel's "whiteness" wouldn't exempt him from criminal charges had there been physical marks on her or if there was someone else to corroborate her allegation

Moreover, the police allowed her to leave w/Manziel and she *VOLUNTARILY* left w/Manziel which means she obviously didn't really feel threatened...so there's that

The shit you did w/this post (and others who agreed w/you) is why a large number of blk men are in prison today....and that is convicting someone, albeit in the court of public opinion, based on little to no evidence

Yep - no evidence - case dismissed, plain and simple

>And what about her saying that he hit her?

What abt it? Where's the bruises where she was allegedly hit "several times in the face?" no marks or nothing?!?!?!...but Manziel should be charged just because she said he hit her (even though according to police she changed her story when questioned later)

>Oh, she was lying and making it up, of course.

Who knows - maybe she was, maybe she wasn't - even though domestic abuse is a real problem in the US there are still some women who lie abt being abused in case you didn't which is why you NEED MORE EVIDENCE THAN JUST AN ACCUSATION to charge/label/or suspend him from the NFL, dickbrain

He should be suspended at the very least. Where's Kim Pentico when you need her? Get out in front of this with the same intensity as every issue.

Technically, I should agree with this decision but that is not the case here because of the nature of the incident.

POC aren't given this same benefit of the doubt in these circumstances.

I don't think any of these guys intentionally want to fuck off millions of dollars, I just think for whatever reason they can't help themselves.

Greg Hardy almost certainly has mental health issues too.

We've chosen to not make that a part of his narrative.

So I'm not going to insert it in Manziel's

He seems like a dangerous man who only has these violent
encounters with women. Sounds like a domestic abuser to
me.

IMO it's almost always a reason and almost never an excuse. The first issue is public safety, the second issue is getting the person help if they will accept it.

It's just astounding to me how someone can be an unrepentant asshole and continue getting a pass like this.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Johnny Manziel's ex-girlfriend tells police QB threatened to kill her

DALLAS - The ex-girlfriend of NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel told police that the Heisman Trophy winner told her "shut up or I'll kill us both" after forcing her into a car, hitting her and dragging her by the hair.

WFAA-TV/News 8 today learned harrowing details of last week's alleged assault of Colleen Crowley by Manziel, who is currently on the Cleveland Browns roster but is not expected to return next season.

“We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field,” said Sashi Brown, the Brown’s executive vice president of football operations, in a statement Tuesday.

“Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization,” Brown’s statement reads. “His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Crowley has told authorities that, according to sources, she is afraid for her safety and has drafted an order of protection to be presented to a Tarrant County district court judge.

Crowley and Manziel dated for two years and lived together for four months before breaking up in December, sources said.

Sources say in her affidavit, Crowley outlines the details of an alleged assault that she said began in Manziel's hotel room in Dallas in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 30.

Sources say on Friday night, Crowley and three friends started the evening off at Victor Tangos, a swanky restaurant in the Knox-Henderson neighborhood in Dallas.

Crowley and friends bar-hopped for a few hours before she met Manziel in his room at Hotel ZaZa in Uptown Dallas.

Sources say while in his hotel room, the two of them argued over another girl. Crowley told police she tried to leave the room, but that Manziel wouldn't let her.

Crowley told police Manziel "restrained" in some manner and "led" her down a back stairway to the valet area.

"I was crying and begged the valet, 'Please don't let him take me. I'm scared for my life!'" she told police. The valet reportedly told her, "I don't know what to do" and let Manziel leave with her.

Sources say Manziel then drove her about a half mile to her car which was parked near the Concrete Cowboy bar off Cedar Springs Road. She claims she jumped out of the car and tried to hide from Manziel but he found her in some nearby bushes.

"He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself," she reported told police. "He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later."

Crowley then reportedly hit Manziel several times hoping to get out of the car, but, she told police, Manziel "threw me off of him" and she hit her head on the car window. She told police he would not give her her phone.

Sources say Manziel then got on Interstate 30 and began driving to her apartment in Fort Worth. While en route, she claims, she yelled at him, "I hate you!" He allegedly replied that "he was going to drop me off, take my car and go kill himself," sources said.

She says she thought he was on drugs or maybe having a psychotic break. She told police she then began telling him she loved him.

She says at that time Manziel "started laughing" and then reportedly yelled at her to "shut up or I'll kill us both."

She says they finally made it to her Fort Worth Apartment where the argument continued.

Crowley claims Manziel became angry, smashed her phone. He then went outside and started "pacing," she told police. While she was alone, she tried to use her computer to contact her parents through Apple's FaceTime video chat system.

She said Manziel came back into the apartment, checked her computer and realized she had tried to contact her parents.

"I was in my kitchen so out of fear for my life, I pulled a knife out of my knife block and advanced toward him," Crowley told police.

"He ran out of the apartment," she said. When she saw him in the parking lot, she said she banged on a neighbor's door and screamed for help. Manziel fled on foot, she told police.

Manziel burst onto the national sports scene in 2012 while a freshman at Texas A&M University. That season, he led the Aggies to 11 wins, including a victory over top-ranked Alabama.

The win over the Crimson Tide and his dazzling play in college football’s toughest conference positioned Manziel to become the first ever freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

He left Texas A&M after his sophomore season and entered the NFL draft. Manziel’s past legal problems and concerns over his size led NFL executives to question whether he could compete at the professional level. Manziel wasn’t taken until the 22nd overall pick by the Cleveland Browns. Over his two seasons in the NFL, Manziel has played in 14 games for the Browns.

Ray Rice was beloved in every community he was a part
of, consummate professional, and the fiance wasn't the
one who said anything

Manziel been a terrible person, sucks at football,
sucks at life and the WOMAN OPENLY MADE the accusations

So basically what this case demonstrates is that a terrible
player who beats women regularly gets treated the same as
an excellent player on a SB champion who does great things in
his community

That sounds about right

You're right, this (sadly) isn't surprising about Manziel, whereas Ray Rice appeared publicly to be just another dude off the field.

I highly doubt it was the first time for either (by first time, I mean the first time this was reported with JFF a few months back.)

Ray Rice was an extraordinarily good dude off the field.

AND was an excellent player and well-regarded talent.

Doesn't make him not a piece of shit.

But those things are facts.

Johnny Manziel is not:

a) a good player

b) a good person

c) a good teammate

>I highly doubt it was the first time for either (by first

Well, we know for a fact that it wasn't Manziel's first time.

Just that the treatment of the two is pretty similar when it comes to domestic violence. W Ray they kept that shit quiet and downplayed it til the video was released. Media is going the extra mile w the unstable girl/toxic relationship/maybe she provoked it shit they tried to spin for Ray.

J. Football is somehow getting the same treatment as Ray despite being a bigger fuck up. He deserves the apologist treatment way less but the response itself is pretty similar. if there was video of Johnny He'd probably be swimming in a shit storm too.

It's not as though ironclad evidence is piling up or he has been indicted.

Ray was done once the video surfaced because apparently people need to see a video to be convinced of what DV looks like. I don't cause I grew up around that shit.

Greg Hardy had a major case that he only beat after paying off his accuser who basically said he came within moments of killing her on a bed covered in assault rifles.

No question racism is at work in people's reactions but using the league's response as an example is not convincing to me.

The same way they'd ask Bruce Bowen what it's like preparing for the Finals or Teddy Bruschi about the Super Bowl, ask Ryan Leaf to comment on what it feels like to wash out of the league in two years. Bring on Mike Beasley to talk about why pro athletes don't have a full-time weed carrier in their employ at all times. When he retires, get Big Ben to talk about the pressures of being both a superstar QB as well as a high-profile rapist.

Fox Sports might actually do this one of these days.

Johnny Manziel’s tangled web of troubles only gets worse by the day.

The Browns quarterback reportedly showed up to practice inebriated on Dec. 30, just days ahead of the regular-season finale against the Steelers, leading the organization to announce their starter was undergoing the concussion protocol to cover up the incident.

“I was with a Browns player yesterday. Johnny Manziel, going in to what would have been a start late in the season, showed up drunk at practice on a Wednesday,” NFL Network’s Michael Silver reported. “The Browns lied and said he was in the concussion protocol. Let me say that again: The Browns lied. To try to protect and, I would argue, enable this irresponsible and very troubled young man.”

Manziel, who is currently at the center of a domestic violence investigation following an altercation with ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, is set to be released by the Browns next month. The 23-year-old played in 14 games in his two seasons in Cleveland, and has been on a troubling downward spiral for the past several months.

After a video surfaced of Manziel partying during a bye week in late November, the Heisman Trophy winner lied to the organization about when the footage had been filmed. On Jan. 2, USA Today reported he fled to Las Vegas under the alias Billy Manziel, working the Strip in a blond wig and a fake mustache. Manziel was slated to show up to the Browns’ facility the next day, a Sunday — for a concussion check, the team said — but he was AWOL until resurfacing on Monday.

The Browns fired coach Mike Pettine and GM Ray Farmer immediately after their season ended and hired Hue Jackson as their new coach.

Since his season concluded last month, Manziel’s off-field behavior has become increasingly erratic. The 2014 first-round draft pick allegedly ruptured his former gal pal’s eardrum with a slap and threatened murder-suicide during a Jan. 29 domestic abuse incident. His agent dropped him as a client days later, and his father issued this alarming prophecy:

“I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday,” Paul Manziel told the Dallas Morning News.

Manziel entered rehab after last season, but refused two attempts last week when his family tried to get him to return to a facility.

Leaf went higher in the draft, but people only kinda knew about him. He was from a semi-obscure school and mostly got known from the Rose Bowl and being a dark horse heisman finalist.

228. "'My son is a druggie; I hope he goes to jail' - Paul Manziel "

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2016/06/johnny_manziels_father_to_espn.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Johnny Manziel's father told ESPN Friday that his son is drug addict and would benefit from being locked up for awhile.

"He's a druggie,'' Paul Manziel told ESPN's Josina Anderson. "It's not a secret that he's a druggie. I don't know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help.

"He just hasn't seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn't die before he comes to his senses. That's about all you can say. I don't know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we'll see."

Paul Manziel told Anderson that he's done everything he can do to help his son.

"You have no idea and the system failed," he said. "I had him in rehab and he escaped and the doctors let him go and that is a whole other story. So, I mean I had him and the system failed. It didn't work. He has more money than me, so he can outrun me. Like I said there are two things that are going to happen: He's either going to die, or he's going to figure out that he needs help. It's one of the two. But we've done everything that we can do. Life goes on. You can't just chase somebody that's not willing to listen. The story is not going to change. It's the same."

Paul Manziel knows that he and his wife Michelle are harshly judged for their son's failings.

"We're so far past that," he said. "That was years ago. We're so far past what everybody thinks we are past. People are ignorant. It's just a horrible story. That's all there is to it."

Paul Manziel expressed his frustration with the ongoing ordeal.

"I'm done. I'm done talking about it," he said. "I'm doing my job, and I'm going to move on. If I have to bury him, I'll bury him. That's the fact. So if not, if he calls me and needs help, I'll go get him. Until then, he's on his own. I've done everything I can do. There is nothing I can do as a father. Nothing.... It is, what it is. He's a druggie and everybody needs to accept it."

Anderson asked Paul Manziel to share Michelle's sentiments about the situation.

"We're done,'' he said. "We don't have the energy to spend anymore. We're done," he said. "Life goes on. I'm not going to keep talking about it. I'm just moving on. If he needs me, I'll come get him."

In early February, after Manziel got into his argument in Texas with ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, Paul Manziel predicted doom unless Manziel received treatment for his substance abuse.

"I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday," Manziel told The Dallas Morning News.

Paul Manziel feared for his son's life
Paul Manziel feared for his son's life
Johnny Manziel twice refused rehab this week and his father Paul believes he's suicidal, he told the Dallas Morning News.

Paul Manziel said at that time that he twice tried to get his son into rehab that week, and that he refused.

The father's latest harsh words came after the Associated Press published contents of a text from one of Manziel's attorneys, Bob Hinton, that he said was meant for another lawyer.

In the text, Hinton expressed doubts about Manziel's ability to stay clean and said he was emailed a receipt showing that Manziel may have spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store just 15 hours after he was involved in second hit-and-run of the past several months on Monday night.

Hinton revealed in the text that he was seeking a plea deal on Manziel's misdemeanor assault charge against Crowley, but acknowleged it wouldn't be easy.

"Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle," the attorney wrote, according to the AP.

Hinton told the AP that the contents of the text were protected by attorney-client privelege and threatened to sue the news outlet.

Manziel was not seriously hurt in Monday's crash, in which someone allegedly struck his car on the driver's side, but hit his head.

The accident was just another episode in the bizarre life of Manziel since he was released by the Browns in March. In April, he and a friend wrecked a Mercedes SUV on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, and the owner of the rental car company, Wayne Schneider, tracked Manziel down in New York and had several SUVs prevent Manziel from driving away while he demanded his money.

Suspended receiver Josh Gordon showed up at the scene of an alleged hit-and-run to pick up his friend Johnny Manziel, who was a passenger in the car, according to TMZ Sports.

In the days that followed, Manziel failed to show up for a family function he was hosting on Long Island, N.Y., and some feared he was missing. His spokesperson, Denise Michaels, told cleveland.com at the time that she was in contact with Manziel as were others.

He's also being sued by the owner of a rental property in Hollywood for more than $100,000 in damages to a house that Manziel rented on April 5th and April 6th. Nicholas Good, owner of LA Exotic Life luxury home rental agency, detailed Manziel's two-day stay at the house in an interview with cleveland.com.

A man who said he was Josh Gordon was with Johnny Manziel at a rental home in the Hollywood Hills that was trashed and strewn with drugs during a two-day rager, rental agent says.

In the midst of the tumultuous few months, Manziel said through his spokesperson that he hoped to return to the football field in 2016, but that seems highly unlikely at this point.
