"NYG TE Daniel Fells Has Foot Partially Amputated "

http://nyg.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-Daniel-Fells-career-over-after-partial-foot-amputation-40195824

Daniel Fells will never play football again.

The MRSA infection the former Giants tight end has been fighting in his foot is more serious than was originally reported, according to Bleacher Report, and his condition is such that, at times in the past week, his life has been in danger.

Jason Cole reports that part of Fells' foot has already been removed to prevent the infection from entering his bloodstream and that doctors will wait a few days before judging whether or not similar procedures will be needed.

Fells remains in good shape for the time being, according to Cole's source, but the removal of part of his foot brings his career to an end.

hope he's able to regain his health and survive this. What a horrible tragedy for someone so young.

On a side note. I think I once had something similar (obviously not the deadly form of MRSA). I was at a hotel and picked it up either in their infected hot tub or gym. Anyways, I had this enormous boil type skin infection that created the most irritating crater on the bottom of my ass. I seriously could not sit down for several days. I was too embarrassed to see a doctor so I did nothing. Eventually it did go away. Looking back it's pretty scary thinking that it could have been much much worse. Thankfully that was a one time event.

embarrassed to get it checked out and just opted to wait it out. I was lucky it never developed into something much worse. It was painful as shit though. It didn't matter how much gold bond I applied, the pain and sheer size of the infection took forever to diminish.

skin, as with any other surface.

problem is if you then later scratch that area. or touch that area and scratch another area, you introduce the bacteria into your body.

so if you got mrsa or something else on a bit of skin, and then get a mosquito bite, and then scratch that area and break the skin, you could be infecting yourself.

its actually quite scary.

sometimes these are germs that will normally be in your nose. so you pick your nose, or sneeze or some shit, and then scratch or whatever, you can infect yourself.

makes you real 'noid about hand washing.

granted, he was 72, and had been fighting for months to recover from a stroke suffered in april, but he had been in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities due to recurring infections, and ultimately, the infections took him out.

when the infection spreads to the blood, its sepsis.

about 6 yrs ago, a dude i was workign with, who was late thirties, early forties, great health, died suddenly from a mrsa infection. one of them outdoorsy type dudes. they don't know how or where he got the infection. but he ignored the symptoms adn by time he went to hospital , it had spread and it was too late.

i've had MRSA infections, before. shit is not to be played with. little, random ass stuff can lead to it and, left untreated, it can be deadly.

and what is horrible is that for ppl w/o health insurance or $$$, they are less inclined to get shit checked out by an actual doctor. but even if you have good healthcare, sometimes a lil bump don't seem like a big deal.

you could have died from that. sometimes they will pop and drain on their own (your body is doing what its supposed to do). but if it spreads to your bloodstream, that can be a wrap.

you should have had some strong antibiotics and been monitored to make sure the infection was gone, but thankfully, it did go away.

there are ways to get inexpensive care in most cities and doctors will work out a cash price. a lot of times i go directly to a specialist and pay the cash price even though i have insurance. it is cheaper than going to your general physician for one appointment and then getting a referral to a specialist through my insurance. considerably cheaper, actually, usually $60-$75 versus about $275.

my son had a lump behind his ear once...from some junior doctor type online searching online, I had come to the conclusion it was a swollen lymph-node. I was actually half right. Got him in to the doc and he had gotten a fungal infection, they figured, from school and it was his body trying to fight the infection. They gave him oral medication, plus a topical cream.

It was the size of an egg at its peak and I had it for at least 10 months. Had to have two biopsies done and had all types of other tests done...cancer, hiv, anything and everything else you can think of.

Till this day we still don't know what the issue was. Which i suppose was a good thing.

cut a piece of it. The 2nd one was at about the 10 month mark, and they cut the whole thing out...tested it and found nothing. They knew it wasn't cancerous but their tests didn't reveal anything else.

I knew my parents were stressed and worried, while trying to keep me not from being too worried. As a kid, i was more concerned with the aesthetics of it and from being teased in school as opposed to actually thinking i had some huge disease. Although, I had a friend who was very sickly and had cancer/diabetes and some other stuff but was still relatively active, so the health factor wasn't too, too scary for me. My mom thought i was strong, i was just naive though.

Looking back tho, yeah thats some seriously scary stuff for a parent. We were going to different doctors at least once a week for almost a year.
