"I fucks with Johnny Manziel. "

I want that dude to play well in the league. Seems like an okay cat.

But more importantly, the media treats him like a black qb. He's even Merrill Hoge throwing haymakers at him.

I hope he keeps rolling out, throwing bombs, being unconventional, and looking like a taller Doug Flutie with a mix of Favre fun ball. Good, good, good.

He does.

Not really.

He's still been given the benefit of the doubt and coddled
in a way that no black QB with that many question marks,
who is that big of an asshole would ever be given

3rd round pick if he's black.

Jameis is an idiot, but was essentially a perfect QB
prospect

Manziel went ahead of Bridgewater because Bridgewater
"lacked upside." LOL.

You forgot the part about not having 1/2 the arm of either
of those guys.

True on the amount of rope given to him. But even that it's still not a lot of rope. They couldn't wait to call dude a bust. But the media finds so much joy in his struggles as if he was black qb.

See, i should've clarified. They're not treating him like a passing black qb like Bridgewater, Winston, or Moon, but how they treat mobile black qbs. They treat him like he's Willie Beamon.

Part of it is his affinity for black culture, though

That drives white people crazy

So even with Manziel it ends up being about race

Beamon was like a 6th round pick in the movie, though

LOL

I think that's the difference:

No black tiny, mediocre-armed, slow scrambler could go that high

Only example is Vince Young, who had just pulled off
the greatest college performance ever. And Vince Young
actually made two pro bowls (Nope! He did). And was
6'5, and ran a 4.58. Manziel is 6'0 and ran closer to
a 4.7.

Where he got picked. When he's finally getting a shot.

And he seems pretty capable. At least as capable as any of these white qbs who've gotten handed the keys to a team over and over and over again and failed.

And we can really go back 20 years and pick out dudes who never got a just shot because of their size and they were only thought about as atheletes.

Imagine if your team's QB won a game completing eight passes. We won but this is woefully unstainable. I hate everything associated with this hype train. When Johnny flames out it will be the Browns are a bad place for QBs when the reality is we are not solid QB drafting teams like the Packers. The Packers at one point had Aaron Brooks, Mark Brunell, and Kurt Warner. No, they didn't draft all of them but they were in the building and suited up for them.

I was a Teddy backer, but the anti-Manziel chorus was high over here. When the Browns picked him (and I knew they would) I was just happy they didn't go with "tall pocket passer, high numbers in college" conventional "wisdom" for the umpteenth time. Bortles was the local favorite, because Roethlisberger. Because Flacco. Some people in their zeal NOT to pick 8-Ball were talking Mettenberger and shit. I was like, "if you don't GTFO..."

they missed out on RGIII. this was their chance to do right. I hope he pans out.

I almost universally fuck with unconventional, short QBs, as long as they got some skill (Breezy, Vick, Russ)

On my squad. Not my #1 choice but the last year had so many folks writing him off even as he did everything he needed (i.e., they wanted him) to do. I'll stand by that dude, esp. since I can see folks just waiting around for him to fail again and then drop the "I knew it!"

(I'm also pulling for Justin Gilbert too. Too soon to be throwing in the towel on the man. Also, cats trying to run him off the side of the highway n' shit)

He can also play.

Can't tell me he's not a great watch gun-slinging like he's still at A&T.

Matter fact, I've already booked a long weekend to catch #Kang on a Friday/Saturday, and Money Manz on a Sunday in Cleveland.

Might even rock my South Floridian ABA #Kang jersey just to troll the Q.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13722425/josh-mccown-cleveland-browns-concussion-protocol-start-week-3-vs-raiders

Browns quarterback Josh McCown will start Sunday against the Raiders, moving back into the lineup ahead of Johnny Manziel after passing the NFL's concussion protocol.

McCown suffered a concussion on the first drive in the season opener against the Jets and sat out last week against Tennessee because of lingering symptoms from the head injury.

McCown was cleared Wednesday by an independent neurologist, the final stage before he can practice. The 13-year veteran had been expected to return last week but had a setback.

Browns coach Mike Pettine will discuss the team's decision at his 12:25 p.m. ET news conference Wednesday.

Manziel is returning to his backup role just days after getting the first win of his career. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, who has overcome personal issues since joining the Browns, threw two long touchdown passes in a 28-14 win over Tennessee on Sunday. He completed eight of 15 pass attempts for 172 yards but had two more fumbles, giving him four in two games.

Pettine said earlier this week that he would start the quarterback who gave him the best chance to win. He's comfortable with the 36-year-old McCown, who signed a three-year contract during the offseason and led the Browns on a 90-yard drive before he was hurt trying to launch himself into the end zone, getting hit by two Jets defenders on Sept. 13.

Pettine hinted Monday at going back to McCown and made it clear the Browns would not be swayed by the polarizing Manziel's status as a first-round pick.

McCown is 17-33 as a career starter and has deep knowledge of Cleveland's offense. While Manziel has made major strides, he remains a work in progress, and the Browns are more comfortable with the 22-year-old as a backup.

this team isn't going anywhere, again, so let Manziel fail on his own or he can show he's worth keeping around. bringing in Josh McCown so he can throw to Dwayne Bowe is how shit teams stay shitty.

His two biggest plays were flukes basically. Another defensive coordinator takes those away. Josh completed five passes in during his time in the game while Johnny completed 8 in the entire game.

once again, JOHNNY COMPLETED 8 PASSES IN AN NFL GAME. What team you a fan of? Assume you don't have a pro bowl QB/hall of famer/legit starting QB. If your QB completes 8 passes in a game then does he deserve to start the next week?

Keep in mind this sandlot play will not work against anyone in the division.

- he sucks, OK. wasted first rounder. cut the cord and be done with him.
- he's mediocre, OK. might have potential, or at least hold the fort down while you look for someone else.
- he's good, OK. what a nice surprise. now you have a capable QB.

if he's sitting on the bench, you don't find out any of those things. if the current regime already thinks he sucks, they should've gotten rid of him last off-season. fuck it, trade him to Jerry Jones for a fifth rounder right today -- that's a better idea than having him spot start when Josh-fucking-McCown is your quarterback.

I supported him because I was tired of Cleveland picking boring-ass "pocket passer" QBs.

but now they got RGIII, who should have been a Brown from day one, so this was all worth it.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.
