My skaters are pretty balanced and there are some guys I have on a short list to replace anyone who struggles or gets injured. What I really like about this team is the goaltending. With Price, Fleury and Andersen I could have three of the top five in wins this year.

But I got guys off waivers to save my ass and a bunch of pretty good value skaters in the later rounds.

This year I just felt like once the top guys were off the board, getting the big point producers in goal was a no-brainer. The rest of the draft just went OK, I like my forwards but a lot of guys went *right* before I was about to take them (e.g. Parise, Carter) and almost all my good values on defense went higher than ranked.

But it's a long year and the waiver wire usually decides it. Tons of players available.

I have to say that the league looks more competitive, waiver wire is real active and some of the new owners are playing serious.

I'm still trying to go wire-to-wire in first place though.

Voracek and Andersen are both going to break out soon. I fucked up not grabbing Krejci but oh well. Once those guys get going I should be real strong, especially with my main man back in the fold looking at you other cats like:

we'll see if i can make the playoffs but i doubt it. too many tight games that didn't go my way. i think theo's team is the real puzzling one, it should be a top-two team and it's straggling in the middle with my bereft of consistency squad.


if i am out of it i may just make things interesting with the little talent i have left. i remember doing that inadvertently one year when i thought the playoffs were one week instead of two lol.

There is so much talent on the waiver wire in that league it's ridiculous. Stay vigilant, manage your tight weeks well and you'll be fine.

That Black Nova Scotians team is having a ridiculous week. I would be kinda close to him if that Sedin trade took a day to get approved lol, but would be tough to catch him. Now I gotta push it just to stay ahead of him in total points. WIRE TO WIRE!

I don't think I am ever going to draft a goalie first either. Last year I took Hank No. 1 overall and he got hurt, this year I got a steal with Price but I got stole on because he isn't playing.

goalies are the highest scoring position in hockey, by a lot.

The problem is that year to year the top players are inconsistent.

everyday players always worth more, regardless of scoring settings.

of course, kickers are different in this group, but i could replace 'kickers' w/ 'quarterback'.

I usually go for 2 guys who regularly get Ws, and a late round 3rd guy to fill in.

if you had a deep H2H league with categories, you'd fuck someone grandmother's for a good goalie. your goalies would account for almost half your performance and you wouldn't be able to cherry pick spot starts and guys on hot runs, because they'd all be owned.

in this instance, with 10 teams, a points system, medium sized rosters, and lots of guys on waivers, your approach is very viable. in other formats you'd be totally screwed.

I think the ceiling is goalie mediocrity.

My friend is on a 9-0 streak to go from last place to fighting for the final playoff spot.

The last spot will probably come down to tiebreaker (total points).

Also me vs CC: my spot secured, him needing a win.

Honestly by total points both Theo's team and mine should be in them 'offs. He had tough luck all season. I almost came back from FIFTY points down against him to win, he got a last-second goal. Other than that he has not been able to catch a break. I hope he manages well and helps me out. I don't feel great about my team going into the playoffs if I were to make it but it's been playing decent the last couple weeks, I guess.

his team put up a ton of points but got unlucky playing the wrong teams at the wrong time. And maybe he was inconsistent, I don't know.

This was the most competitive season in a while. Usually the four best teams are pretty clear cut. This year the race was tight.

This year it's just me, and then everyone else. lol
