they got 9 NBA talents on their team and that's not even including Tristan Thompson who's not playing because of contract issues. most importantly they are all in their 20's. they're very inexperienced internationally right now but give them some time playing together.
Argentina are the experienced veterans of this tournament and should get through no problems. Scola and Noccioni are getting up there in age though.
Brazil doesn't seem to have sent their best squad (no Barbosa, no Nene, no Tiago Splitter) probably cuz their automatically qualified to the next Olympics. they're probably just trying to get some run for their other younger guys.

they're blowing teams out and Bennett is playing well (leading the team in rebounds). he's actually one of the more seasoned international players on the squad.

...meanwhile the core of Team Canada are all under 25; only 2 players older than 25. Wiggins is the youngest player at 20.
this tourney is basically about the gold medal game. whoever makes it gets to Brazil for the Olympics next year. as the host country, Brazil is in, but they just beat Canada in the Pan Am games (in Toronto!)a couple months back. they might try to win this one too.
it'll be interesting to see if Pitino can get the Dominicans to the gold medal game.
aside from Canada, can't tell if they're any NBA prospects in the tourney worth watching.

they got Mexico today and DR tomorrow before the semi's start on Friday. Mexico hasn't lost yet and they're the host team so the crowd should be crazy.
Venezuela beats Argentina in the final. both teams auto qualify for the Olympics. Luis Scola (ARG) gets the MVP.
Canada beats Mexico in the 3rd place game.
Canada (3rd), Mexico (4th) and Puerto Rico (5th) go to final stage of qualifying to get in to the Olympics.
Canada got robbed by the way in their semi-final game. Venezuela went for the final shot to win in regulation and missed but he ref called a foul under the basket away from the shot and Venezuela gets free throws to win it. wild game. highlights below.
