got sick after night one and rest of the weekend was rough for your boy.
im gonna empty my head and get as much out as I can. If there's anything you wanna ask (cause it'll probably jog my memory) feel free.
watched a lot of full games, got a chance to see guys in person I hadn't. Always hard when there's multiple going on at once.
saw Miles Bridges a lot. huntington prep legit 6-7 look like he's going from a 3-4 to a 2-3. His handle could use tightening, however he drives right super well for a lefty, corner 3 and wing 3 he hit more consistenly than I'd seen previously. a freight train on the break. like, get out the way. dunked everything, and played his ass off. Wont get cheated in the effort department. uk/mich/mich state at all his games
got a chance to see de'aaron fox in person. holy shit. havent seen anyone who can keep him in front of them. 6'4" 165 skinny dude. i described his game to someone...its tough cause he's so unique, but if rajon rondo patterned his game after iverson's game, you'd get fox. similar rondo body, but moves like iverson...you just gotta see him live to get it. the long range shot is strwaky, but if its going he can get nuclear and then that's it. all high majors were at his game (id love it if he went to texas. shaka was at all his games) however his team is loaded. also on houston hoops
jared vanderbilt I didn't see. concussion. I think they make the semifinals with him.
robert williams. 6'7" kid with like a 7'5" wingspan or something. fantastic rim protection. like, fantastic. super hops, like levitating type hops. showed a few faceup moves, so if he doesn't grown he's gonna have to play some wing, but the raw materials are there. blew up this summer.
carsen edwards, when he gets the ball he knows he's shooting it. the other team knows. the scorekeeper knows, the ballboys know. a gunner that'd make victor page proud. thing of it is, his pullup 3 is $, he's quick enough to get to the lane and finish (though at about 5'10") and hits foul shots. if he went to a midmajor and became a 20ppg scorer it wouldn't shock me. tho I don't know what else he really does.
psa cardinals (bx represent) were the best team all tourney till they got knocked out the quarters. lost their big man omari spellman to an ankle, and had back to back 20 pt blowouts of good teams. ty jerome, going to uva, is..while not the "best" pg in 2016, a guy I'd likely start my team with. I can fill out every other spot with talent, his talent is, making shots, doing things that win basketball games, and with my own two eyes, never committing a turnover. I think his assist to turnover was 6-1 throughout all eybl.
team takeover had vj king and dj harvey, i get why both of them are so highly rated. I only saw them full on during the ga stars game in the semis which they lost in overtime. both are good at the elbows, harvey alright from 3 wide open feet set, king more a pullup at the line, drive guy. both are gonna draw a ton of fouls.
Michael porter jr. real deal. uses screens well, low low low dribbler for 6'9" athletic. wet jumper.
trae young i saw live vs elfrid payton, and he hit some shots, however im not...super impressed. he gets his, however as a pg he leaves a little to be desired getting guys involved.
against elfrid payton he went up against javonte smart. 2018 pg playing up 2 years. legit 6'4" pure pg. not a 2 playing the point, pure pg. can hit the 3, can get to the rack, throws great passes in tight windows in transition, and was all in young's jersey on d. likely top pg in the country by senior year.
marques bolden of pro skills. super skilled. great footwork. left hand, right hand. problem, doesn't want it bad enough. played miles bridges and the family, and was up 8-10 all game. then the family started to d up, got momentum, and when the game was within 5 points either way, I didn't see him go after the rock, or lose his mind that he wasnt getting it. told him at the airport he was too good and needed to let his team know, close game, i touch the ball every time down. he got what I was telling him. duke folks at all his games.
wendell carter. saw th stars against takeover and I didn't see why he's top 5 in class. against the eagles I got it. thought his teammate azubuike was the rim protector. nope. it's carter. 8 blocks and altered at least 4 more. he could be more sound defensively because he'd pick up bad fouls jumping when straight up hands would work, but he was fantastic on that end. offensively nice interior passer. good offensive rebounder. good back to the basket. kids a stud.
udoka azubuike. big. slow. to get off the floor. he needs work, not in a bad way, that's fantastic clay to mold from. don't go to kansas son. please. if he goes to UK with other big men and gets to work on his conditioning and skills against elite big men, might be best thing for him.
ive got more, but im not feeling awesome, so I'll finish up prob tomorrow. if i missed anything, ask. sorry its back late.
